Cool/Historic Stuff You've Seen Live

Recommended Posts

Summerslam 97: Owen broke Austin's neck. I remember thinking that Austin might be injured.

Raw, Aug. 97: HBK officially turning heel by attacking Undertaker with the chair after the tag match (Taker & Mankind vs. HBK & HHH)

Royal Rumble 04: Benoit winning the Rumble!

Not historic by any means, but I attended the 1st HHH match after the quad surgery and saw/realized the first signs of the horrible run he would have.

He was visibly huge and sluggish, and he did his screaming face pose WAY too much. He even did it after the show with Austin and spit the beer.

I can remember thinking he was a shell of 2000 even then. Something was up.

-The sweet (MOTYC easily imo) Benoit/Austin SD match with 10 germans

-Backlash, which included Benoit defending his title by making the crowd's enemy HBK, tap, as well as some very loud mass chants, and Benoit parading around the ring with my Canadian flag

-Eddie/RVD ladder match, my brother actually works with the nut that ran in.

-Umm... That Edge/Angle cage match from SD

Cool:

Razor/Jarrett house show ladder match in Milwaukee 1995.

Hakushi/Bret Hart match from the same show. My first big ***** star match. Yes, it would probably ***3/4-**** these days: but I was marking out to it.

Austin/Dude Love at Over The Edge

Sting winning the title at SuperBrawl 92, and a cool Rude/Steamboat match

Historic:

NWO being re-formed

a trial run of Sting and Nash forming an alliance against the nWo at a house show.(Wolfpac) I guess to test the reaction.

Without a doubt Wrestlemania XX tops the list. When Benoit locked Triple H in the crossface, the entire crowd jumped up. When Triple H tried to roll through you could just about hear the arena take a collective gasp. When Benoit held on everyone (in my section at least) let out a girlish yelp and started chanting "TAP! TAP! TAP!" Great times. Other shows were the first in the 98 house show series where Benoit and Booker T traded the TV title and (I'm stretching here) John Cena's face turn on SD last year. My best friend has the most incredible luck with shows though, as he saw Goldberg vs. Hogan at the GA Dome, the Raw where ECW reformed (he's even on TV there holding his Rhyno sign) and WMXX with me. I would have been at the ECW show too if not for poor grades in school. Dang calculus :(

i was at Bad Blood in 97 for the first HIAC. that was pretty sweet.

it was also the night after Pillman died.

the only other memorable show ive been to was in 95...a house show.

main event was michaels/hart v. lawler/?????

it was a really good hot tag match but i can't remember who lawlers partner was...does anyone know? if it would help, it was at the Kiel Center in STL.

The Prophecy vs. The Second City Saints: Possibly Christopher Daniel's last ROH Match.

Joe vs. Punk: 60 Minute draw. Possibly the best ROH match ever.

I missed that so I could watch RAW that Monday night. You saw a MOTY candidate, I saw La Resistance win a flag match. Color me disappointed.

Also saw:

Scott Steiner turn on Buff Bagwell on Nitro.

Allow me to point and laugh at Swiggy.

And to stay mildly on topic, I saw GAB 95 (maybe 94) the one in Dayton. I can't remember much aside from the fact Savage fought Flair.

Man, my live wrestling history sucks for the most part

--Start of Sting's Heel turn.

--Warrior's first WCW match.

--Saturn frees the Flock.

--Jericho defeats "Goldberg"

--Cruiserweight Gauntlet.

I would like to add that when I was a kid, I saw Flair and AA vs Sting and Lex Luger in a cage match.

That sounded better before I typed it.

Most historic things I've seen live were Foley being fired as Commissioner at the December 18th, 2000 Raw and Vince saying the nWo was coming at the January 25th, 2002 Smackdown.

I also saw the first ever WWF/WCW match in the form of DDP/Awesome v. Undertaker/Kane at a house show the Saturday before the ECW Invasion Raw where the first WWF/WCW match supposedly took place.

and I almost didn't go to the ROH Punk/Joe match because of the RF scandal...im glad i did that's for sure and Im getting concerned because I don't think I have EVER seen a match hyped so much(im a guilty party) and i'm concerned the hype may not live up for some but i doubt it.

I went to see the Global Warning card in August 2002. Historic because it was the first time since 1984 that WWF/E had come to Australia. There were some great matches on the card too (Rock vs HHH vs Brock for the world title headlined), and it set a new attendance record for Colonial Stadium (over 56000 people).

Rock's "I know you get wet... with perspiration! Standing this close to The Rock!" promo. (2001/09/04 live SD!)

Kronik's debut. (2001/09/04 live SD!)

Rock vs. Hogan. (2002/03/17 WM18) - Probably the only one I'd count as historic, and a lot of people were there.

Hogan vs. Flair, which I don't think happened many times in WWE/F. (2002/05/13 Raw)

Booker T joins the nWo. (2002/05/13 Raw)

London, Ontario's first WWE/F event in many, many years, and the first at the John Labatt Centre. (2002/10/14 SD! house show)

What I think was Nathan Jones' first appearance in a WWE ring on TV. (2003/02/25 SD! taping)

Rhyno's return from his neck injury. (2003/02/25 SD! taping)

The promo where John Cena named his finisher the F-U. (2003/02/25 SD! taping)

Hmm... out of the live wrestling shows I've been to live, only three of them were televised events. But I did see...

The Undertaker retain the Undisputed Championship over Jeff Hardy in the ladder match.

Chris Benoit's first television match since returning from his neck surgery.

Edge and Rey Mysterio defeating Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle for the WWE Tag titles in the 2/3 Falls match.

The debut of Mr. America.

Saw Hogan and Flair at the Boston Garden house show the night before Flair won the 92 Rumble. Hogan won by DQ.

Saw Foley win the title for the first time at the Worchester Centrum at the end of 98. Had always been on the Foley bandwagon and at the time didn't realise how the match was going to affect the Monday Night Wars with Tonys comments on Nitro a week later. I remember hearing the comments about "Foley putting butts in seats" left me BULLSHIT with WCW. Austins music cue during the match popped the crowd so big that it rates as the loudest thing I have ever heard. TV doesn't even come close to doing it justice and watching you can the tell the crowd was going totally batshit!

Saw Vince at the Fleet Center revealed as the Higher power.

Had 2nd row seats the RAW after Angle won the King of the Ring. Best seats I have ever had at the Fleet or anywhere else for that matter. Total luck with Ticketbastard as I do not know anybody to get me tix that good. If any of you have that event on tape you'll see 3 idiots bowing to the new King right behind JR and the King as Angle goes to the booth to commentate.

Saw Lita get twacked with a chair by Austin as he and HHH killed the Hardys. Again at the Defeat Center.

Saw Mr. Americas debut in Manchester, NH.

Also saw The Rock/Austin rematch in Providence at Backlash after Mania 15. The highest rated on the net match I have seen. Event had pretty much sucked up to that match too. Well the Foley/TBS boiler room brawl was kinda ok, but who wants to watch a match on TV when you paid to see a live event?
