Guest Birds in the Hotel Report post Posted July 14, 2004 Tonight's entries should be interesting.
Aero 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2004 I can't believe they left out the #1 grossing movie of 1991: T2. It would have been high on my list for that year, and certainly should have been there instead of stuff like Thelma and Louise, Point Break, etc. On my Digital Cable, info given for 91 lists T2. But it did the same for Beavis & BUTT-Head in 93, and Fresh Prince in 90. I might have just missed Fresh Prince, though.

The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2004 Oh...and I love seeing Where's Waldo everywhere. He kicks the Dancing Baby's ass. The best was him popping up in "Gin & Juice"
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2004 They haven't used the Ice T "You got a problem?" thing in the last couple of episodes though.
Guest Birds in the Hotel Report post Posted July 14, 2004 No, the baby sucks, and does not define the 90's for me.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2004 1994 was to me the best and most compelling year of the 90s. They would almost have to TRY to fuck this one up. To wit: --Cobain's suicide. --O.J. and the murder/white Bronco --Kerrigan/Harding and the scandal --The rise of punk bands (Green Day, Offspring) in the post grunge era. --Movies like Forrest Gump, Speed, True Lies, etc. After all, if they can mention Point Break, they can mention a Keanu vehicle that actually MADE MONEY. By the way I didn't see all of the 92 episode but did they mention Street Fighter II at all? If they didn't, someone must die.

I believe they mentioned Mortal Kombat but not Street Fighter. I may be wrong on that.
Guest PlatinumBoy Report post Posted July 14, 2004 I also further the Amy Jo Johnson love. When I was a youngun back then my friends and I found fakes of Jennifer Aniston, her, and Courtney Cox on AOL back in 95ish, 96ish. We were in heaven, and it finally gave our computer a better use than Sim City 2000 and Doom 2. Good shows so far, and you always have to love when you've got (I know this happened so far, but the point remains) some D list, I was an extra in an indy movie and run a website, celeb going off like "SEINFELD! THAT SHOW SUCKED! I'D BE SO ASHAMED TO BE A PART OF IT!" It's not quite that bad--but still.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2004 They should include Where in the World is Carmen San Diego shows both the gameshow and the cartoon!
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2004 I know that Mortal Kombat ended up as the better movie, but come on....you gotta have Street Fighter II before it. That game was just EVERYWHERE back in 1992. So far I'm not feeling these shows. God, they gave about as much time to Color Me Badd that they did to the grunge movement. DMann2003 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 I'm so glad they did a piece on Dazed and Confused (Special Edition DVD comes out in September) Given that Kevin Smith & Jason Mewes have been doing stuff for this, what're the odds of "Clerks" being covered in 1994? "Clerks, was a film, where everyone said 'Fuck' a lot"
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted July 15, 2004 It's vh1, snuffbox. I feel slightly older now that I see all of these Pink Ranger fantasies. That's about right, though. The first two women I found sexually attractive were Daisy Duke and Dolly Parton, if memory serves. Daisy I'm positive about. Dolly might've been edged out by Miss Elizabeth. packwingfn 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 Funniest moment of the night: Jericho singing Ace of Base. Both episodes were gold tonight. 94 and 95 had some good and memorable stuff.
Guest Birds in the Hotel Report post Posted July 15, 2004 Not too shabby, although I missed the first half of 94. The Ace of Base shit was funny.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 Me and my brother laughed for a good five minutes when Hogan came on with the Humpty Hump glasses and said "Do the Humpty-Hump".
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 I didn't catch some of 94 but my brother told me they didn't even mention Cobain's death on there. Perhaps they considered it too much of a downer and couldn't crack jokes on it? Incidentally, I remember Ace of Base in late 93 so maybe they should have been on that show. I already await I Love the 90s Strikes Back, since they've left out a bunch of stuff.
Guest Mr. Wrestling Report post Posted July 15, 2004 Here's another question, do you think they will cover the Monday Night Wrestling Wars in 1997 or 1998? It was a big part of Americana during that period so it HAS to be on those episodes especially since they are using Hulk Hogan and Chris Jericho on their show. Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't mention WWF or WCW at all though they did mention Wrestlemania I on I Love the 80s.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 I'd think if they mentioned anything about wrestling, it would be either Montreal or Owen's death. They also left out Tyson's rape ordeal as well as his loss to Buster Douglas.
Guest Mr. Wrestling Report post Posted July 15, 2004 I'd think if they mentioned anything about wrestling, it would be either Montreal or Owen's death. They also left out Tyson's rape ordeal as well as his loss to Buster Douglas. Actually, I doubt they'd mention Owen's death. If they do and then makes jokes afterwards, I'd be pissed. It does seem probable that the Monday Night Wars will be mentioned. I mean wrestling took the nation over in 1997 and 1998. Everyone was a wrestling fan, Stone Cold exploded, the nWo exploded. No reason for them to NOT cover it. Montreal wasn't mainstream pop culture while the WWF vs. WCW Monday Night War was mainstream. Montreal was more popular with smart marks than it would be with the mainstream. I couldn't even imagine how they'd comment on that.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 Yeah, I did think about that. But then, even for those who weren't "smart marks" that saw Montreal would know something was fishy about that, and at least know a little bit of the story. I also agree on the Owen part...and MIB was the first guy to pop into my head. PS: only four episodes left, and still no Henry Rollins. My fury is rising.
