A great album. I was shocked at how much I love this album, since it's from a white rap group from Iceland. "Mr. Jinx" is probalby the catchiest song ever. "Stick 'Em Up", "Mr. Jinx", "Baseline", "Malone Lives", "Tarfur", and "Transparent Parents" are my favorites. Just an all around awesome album, one of my all-time favorites.

5 is a middle-of-the-road rating for me, it's average. i think "purple rain" is an above-average song with a pretty good melody that's hampered by production that's too bombastic & shimmery, and i don't think the substance of the song justifies its inordinate length. it got the "you can't always get what you want"-type HEARTFELT EPIC POP SONG CLIMAX TO A SPRAWLINGLY GREAT ALBUM treatment, and the material just doesn't hold up terribly well to that approach. if you compare it to another heartfelt epic pop song like, say, "hey jude" its shortcomings are more obvious. i think it would've been a more effective closer if it was more focused, spare & tight, and didn't try so hard to be climactic. i have the same problems with "you can't always get...", only i think "purple rain" is a better-written song than the stones' epic number.

A decent compilation, and not a lot of stuff that isn't good on there. The inclusion of 'Without You I'm Nothing' seemed a bit silly though, as there are a lot more better album tracks from Placebo.
