Piper wants back in

From what we know, Roddy Piper has recently contacted Vince McMahon via fax about a possible job in WWE again.

We don't know many details at this point but basically Piper presented his side of the situation for whatever statements he made on HBO's "Real Sports" segment regarding deaths in pro-wrestling. Those statements are the ones that actually led to Piper being released from WWE during his last run. He also even mentioned some character ideas for himself, if he were to be brought back in to the company.

I'd have no trouble with manager/interviewer Piper.

Plus him getting fired over those comments was a rather big steaming pile of crap. Firing a guy for statement he made when he didn't even work for you is rather weak.

Piper is the perfect foil for Flair. They should put him in charge of a stable or a single wrestler. B-)

Piper was working a day to day contract with WWE, so it's not like they signed him for 2 years and one month into it he was kicked to the sidewalk.

I'd mark for the bag pipes one last time.

Just don't make this man a GM.

Why not?

In his last run he was not that bad on the mic. Just keep him from the ring expect on special times!

As reported earlier, Roddy Piper is trying to make his way back into the WWE and recently contacted Vince McMahon with a personal fax regarding the possibility of him coming back to work for the company.

Basically, the fax was all about Piper trying to explain to Vince McMahon why he said what he said back on the HBO special that resulted in the loss of his last job with the company. He also pitched a few character ideas for himself if he were to return to WWE programming.

Piper wants to be more of an on-air personality rather than a wrestler. He had outlined that he wanted to become a character on the programming, though at this point we are unsure whether WWE will consider him or not. In reality, there is not much left for WWE to do with Piper due to the fact that they can't use him in the ring, though WWE does have quite a track record regarding past talent that has made money for the company over time.

I don't have any problem with him on the mic.

I just have scatterred flashbacks i've tried to erase from my mind involving piper, flair, the GM position and a mental institute.Granted he wasn't the one writing that crap his association is enough.

What is there for Piper to do though?

Aside from reprising his manager role, I can't see anything. Piper's Pit should be dead and buried. Putting him alongside Matthews for Velocity would be an improvement on DeMott, but only just. Interviewer is below him. GM...eh.

Hell keep him for somebody for Jericho to rip on if they don't plan on doing anything big with him (Jericho that is)

Roddy's a legend...right.

"Hey, Roddy, remember Bob Orton's kid?"

Although, at this point, I'm sure Piper does have trouble remebering shit like hanging out with Orton

Piper would be great as a Raw commentater. Have him and JR do the first hour, and then sub in the King.

Actually, they'd be an entertaining three man combo.

He's probably begging for the "WWF President" position. I wouldn't mind a Piper DVD though and I'm sure Vince will gladly make a buck off that. Wasn't Piper nominated for some kind of best talk show thing for the 80's in a magazine or something?

I think it is funny how guys like Flair & Piper were regularly being bashed, and rightfully so, as over the hill and worthless and spotlight hoggers in their last runs in WCW, yet over half the board now is pining for Piper and can't get enough of Flair. Leave Piper at home, and get Flair out of the ring....NOW.

As long as Piper is in nothing even remotely resembling a wrestling role on Raw or Smackdown i could stand to have him around, though he'll likely just end up as another over the hill old guy taking time away from the people who actually still have a future in the company. I'm sure the money that would be used on hiring him again could be better spent on actual in-ring talent, and it'll only be a matter of time before he runs his mouth about something that pisses Vince off and he'll be gone again anyway.

If Piper wants to come back as a manager role or something similar to what Heyman does, then I don't have an issue with this at all. From what I understand Piper has always been for putting over the younger guys, so I don't have a problem if he became a impartial GM.

Hmm. That's all I can really say. He mis-timed all his interference spots in O'Haire's ppv debut of his push which kinda killed the whole angle, I doubt he's even of use in that capacity anymore. But yeah, better than Lawler.

GM? Let's hope not. I don't even want another GM period....no matter who it is. But I would mark a little bit for him to commentate.

Piper was alright as a commentator. On Smackdown they should have Savage, Piper, and Michael Cole. Boy, would poor Cole ever drown.
