History of the WWE Title Box Set

Price is $25. Looks like it will only be a 2 or 3 disc set, with matches skipped and clipped to hell. Looks like a bloodbath type DVD. Boo!

HA! If that's true I'll continue to laugh my ass off at people splooging their pants without any real idea on this.

I just noticed...

No title defenses by "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers!

That may or may not be a gyp.

I'm not sure where, but I'm pretty sure I read tha Vince doesn't own the rights to any of the footage with Buddy Rogers as champ. Umm, I guess I'd shell out the money to buy this. I dunno, I guess I'd have to wait for more details to decide. Also, the "replica belt" could very well just be one of those foam platic belts that Jakks Pacific markets.

If it is $25 and this is the list the wwe might release it one by one I suppose. I 've also seen rumours that there is another bloodbath DVD being released about ladder matches. The wwe could very well have this catalogued in this manner since they had to get things in order for the WWE 24/7 channel.

I think that volume-by-volume people would be more apt to buy it anyway. instead of shelling out $300+ for 14 discs at once.

Actually there are maybe 4 matches from 65-80 that I would like to see.

I wouldn't mind the first few discs either, but I'm not jumping to conclussions. I remember someone emailing the Flair DVD Match list to Wrestlecrap.com, and it ended up being the exact opposite of the REAL release.

funny how when someone posts this, nearly everyone believes it is true!

Why would they release matches from 1998-2002 anyway? there is no purpose to release footage from these years anymore due to the heavy amount of editing

WWE will NEVER EVER release anything like this to the public

So they're going to ignore their most succesful years when doing WWE 24/7?

Uh huh. Don't be an idiot.

Maybe if this monster set comes out you will be able to pick and choose what dvd's you want out of the set. I also can't see anyone justifiably spending that much for this.

Vince should just set up an online download service like Napster, 19.99 a month gets you XXX ammount of matches to download, which you can then burn onto DVD.

If you know were to look...some stores may have it half price or even 50 % off...

Or maybe it'll be a quarter off. Maybe 25%.

Or maybe 3 quarters off. If we're lucky maybe even 75%.

-- Damn you, I wanted to make fun of him but you already got it, so I did it anyways. When I read his comment I just laughed my ass off.

I would have figured that they would put a 16 Disc Wrestlemania Set (WM 1-14 and 2 Bonus Discs).

This however is just somebody's dream DVD collection, and if it ever gets made it might be 3 discs of clipped matches if we're lucky.

The only way this actually has a chance to be real is if its a Limited Edition deal and they can justify selling it for $500+ with the belt and book and other stuff because theres only like 100 sets available.

I was thinking earlier today about this. Maybe they will sell the bundle on shopzone. But sell the box set at outlets, like Media Play, Best Buy and wherever else. Just a thought for this rumor

I'm glad someone else here is thinking realistic.

I think it's quite possible. The title has been surfacing for years now so we know they've been working on it for a long. It'd be quite sad if it ended with JBL winning the belt though...

Of course, to be even they'd have to release the History of the World Title and....damn.

I figured when I heard the rumours of this title last winter it was all a marketing tool for Brock Lesnar "greatest wwe champion of them all" gimmick to coincide with the champ vs. champ rumours for WM XX. I wondered what happened to the release plans since I was seeing the Hart DVD(which is now being rumoured for 2005)being released for Christmas(which is now rumoured to be the 4 horsemen release timeframe and let the Flair/Hart controversy continue ;) .

I'm amazed at how much sand people have in their vaginas with regards to editing and blurring of the WWF logo. As if blurry spots on the ring apron and turnbuckles makes a ****+ match not worth watching anymore or something.

Agreed - at most, it's just a minor inconvenience. Once I'm into watching the match, I don't even notice it. Mick's "Hits and Misses" is chock-full of 1998-2000 matches (at least four of them, I think) and all are edited. But once you're into watching the match, it's not even an issue . . . at least it's not for me.

It amazes me how many people on here get amazingly upset over the blurring thing. I'm more irritated about having to cut the Ventura commentary from the WCW matches, but even that's just a minor problem.

And as for this box set we're talking about, I just find it hard to believe that WWE would release something THAT pricey and expect it to be bought en masse. Maybe two different sets would be appropriate - one without the replica belt, and one sold exclusively on ShopZone WITH the belt included. I'd be willing to pay $100/$150 for that sort of boxset, but there's no way in hell I'd dish out $350 or more for it just because it comes with the replica belt. I'm way more interested in getting the matches in DVD quality than getting the belt. I can catch the belt on EBay at a lower price if I ever decide I want it anyway. I'm not a big fan of the current design as it is . . .

Has anybody considered that if this box set is legit, the replica belt might be one of those cheesy $12 plastic and foam replicas rather than one of the expensive $300 replicas?

Well, with the price of the boxset alone, people have already discussed the option of selling the boxset/belt bundle as a Shopzone-exclusive, which is ideal based on their previous Shopzone offers (i.e. DVD + shirt, DVD + book, shirt + magazine subscription).

To disprove the legitimacy of this DVD, this title has been listed on DVD websites since the spring of 2002. It's not that WWE Home Video are pushing this title back, it was that this was a rumored title by WWE when heading into the 2002-2003 fiscal year, that snowballed into a three-DVD, or in this case, FOURTEEN DVD set.

I remember reading the original financial report, where they hinted that they'd release a career retrospectus on Hulk Hogan (check) and updated releases on The Rock (Just Bring It: Special Edition - check) and Triple H (That Damn Good - check), so you can imagine how far this rumor has come.

I'm so going to buy this regardless of price. To own that match list on DVD is a must for anyone who has ever called themself a wrestling fan. It's worth it just for the Bret Hart matches alone.

What really disproves this rumor is the inclusion of the Over the Edge match. The only way they'd ever possibly consider using that match is if they were including every single title change in WWE history. Given that there are title changes that aren't on there, the Over the Edge match is absolutely wrong for any WWE set.

Also, whoever the fuckshit was that put that listing together didn't include Austin/Angle from SS 2001. What the hell is that about?

Jesus fucking damn, that's a lot of matches (114 unless I miscounted)

Apparently this is to be a MONSTER sized boxed set containing 14 DVDs, 110 matches (title switches/defenses), a 250-page hardcover book and a full size replica Championship belt.

:)

Iggy, using, "they included X, but not Y, so it must be fake" reasoning is so bogus.

They would use the OTE title switch imo. If they wanted to be careful about backlash using any match from that event I think they would just edit the commentary pertaining to Owen Hart.
