Guest MikeSC Report post Posted August 20, 2004 Well, as per usual, the show is a heaping helping of OK. However, whomever is trying to get Abyss to emote is doing the man a severe disservice. I was bored of the Abyss/Goldilocks storyline BEFORE the damned thing started. -=Mike

Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2004 Shane/Kazarian vs. Psi/La Park...what is the point of this match mainly? Basically, to show off talent? And one thing I want to bring up..I think on this board too (on a lot of others I know) many after reading the results were saying that Pat Kenney got just buried facing Jeff Jarett, and was made to look even weaker. I actually didn't think that after seeing the match...it was more of it made 'The Stroke' look stronger. With that being the only offensive move hit on him and he was out. But IMO, they still made him look stronger, because even after that, he got back up and was ready to face the champ again... Albeit he got knocked out with the guitar afterwards...but hey, ,that's everyone in TNa. EDIT- And holy shit...that Pounce to AJ Styles was a perfect example of the move looking 'beautiful'. Agreed on JJ v Kenney. It was not a squash. However, Kenney, is absolute crap in ther ring. And, Jeff Hardy is STILL using that idiotic face paint crap he used so much late in his WWE career? Yup, no concerns about stability there. -=Mike

razazteca 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2004 Wait a second....Why DID TNA hire Larry Zbysco? Because TNA needs to have all of the people who did WCW World Wide! Only person missing is Lee Marshall. Anybody else get excited when they see a "local talent" job a tv match? Everybody must worship Fast Eddie Villa. However, whomever is trying to get Abyss to emote is doing the man a severe disservice. I was bored of the Abyss/Goldilocks storyline BEFORE the damned thing started. Are you bored with Abyss stealing Kane's orginal gimmick? Only thing missing now is the voice box.
Fro 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2004 This was quite a bit of a better show than recent weeks with some nice little matches and some angles actually going somewhere on Impact. A couple less squashes with no-name local jobbers. At least some of the wrestlers were over with this local crowd. I would expect the show to improve a lot as we get away from having to hard sell the upcoming PPVs every week. Of course, Fox Sports Midwest here was screwing up. They aired the show unadvertised at 2 pm (as they sometimes do and sometimes don't do), then aired a skateboarding show for about 15 min before starting Impact late at 3:15. There's still way too much dead weight on the roster and they're going to bring in a couple guys like a Sting and DDP for a few months to add some star power if they ever can get a good timeslot, but it seems like they're back on the upswing at this point. Coolclint 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2004 Only person missing is Lee Marshall. If "Stagger" Lee shows up with a "TNA Road Report", I give up on the promotion.
Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2004 I've caught nearly every Impact, but Jeff Hammond is starting to bug me. Who is this dipshit and why is he involved with TNA? Thankfully he's not involved in the entire show.
Robert 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2004 I did like the way AJ Style's sold The Pounce. The right way to do it. I kinda liked the squash with Brown. Kenny looked like crap in that match. Hammond was and I think still is a Nascar driver. I think he was friend of Jarrett, and is the Art Donavan of TNA. I may order the show, just to see the six man tag match. The D'Amore/Dusty is pointless, and this whole fued with Russo will probably lead to a match at their grand Pay Per View that will draw WCW 1992 buyrates. I still hate Hardy and don't think he deserves a match for the belt. If he win's that, all the men that won that belt will weep. Better show than the last, but a thrid rate Heat still. Since there doing monthly PPV's, there gonna have to make the show better or get a better timeslot.

Guest Marty2Hotty Report post Posted August 21, 2004 It's going to be interesting how IMPACT is going to be booked after the weekly pay per views are gone! I don't think they could survive doing squash matches accompanied with stalling... They have a 3 hour monthly pay per view to promote, and the stuff that occurs on their (sigh) one hour show, must be intense, dramatic, and done well... Can't just let them do long wrestling matches... They would certainly need some entertainment, now that they are using TV to promote the pay per views. That's what I think anyways

Zbysko did have some good matches in his career....... .........of course, they were at least twelve to fourteen years ago, and against better workers like Ricky Steamboat or Arn Anderson, but still, he had a FEW good matches. It's going to be interesting how IMPACT is going to be booked after the weekly pay per views are gone! I don't think they could survive doing squash matches accompanied with stalling... I would LIKE to think that they would change the format. Given TNA's track record, though, I have ZERO confidence in them to actually do it. And I won't until I actually see it happen. Guest Marty2Hotty Report post Posted August 21, 2004 I think Fairplay could and Should have a role on the show. There is a lot TNA could do with him, IMO. He needs a weekly segment, at least for Impact, where the unpredictable happens. I think the language needs to improve... Throw in a few "I'm going to whip your ass all over this building" quotes and you have wrestlers with attitude again. Wrestlers with attitude = cool characters= getting over = fan reaction. Letting people go out there and squash an opponent without saying/doing anything cool = no reaction. That simple. Give people some gimmicks. Don't be afraid to try this and that. Take some risks and people will give your product a chance Stay the safe route, and they will go away. This is strongly what I think the business is weak at right now. Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2004 I wouldn't mind Fairplay being used. I just don't know what a proper role for him would be. When it comes to cursing, they simply can't do that on FSN. I'm watching the show right now, since it airs at midnight in Philly. The Kash/Dallas tag match was enjoyable, and with an extra minute, Jarrett and Diamond would have been too.

Thanks, I knew i'd seen that guy somewhere, I just wasn't sure where. Actually, i'm suprised TNA haven't signed Fast Eddie, he's a pretty good worker (though he looked pretty average on Impact) and i'm sure TNA and Russo would love to exploit the fact that he's legally blind.
