I tried it today. Apparently, it's Mountain Dew mixed with black grape soda. It actually pretty good, I thought. Just wondering if anyone else has head of/tried it yet?

Also, what's next? There is apparently, Mountain Dew Red, Mountain Dew Orange, Mountain Dew Blue, Mountain Dew Black, and I believe I heard of Mountain Dew Green awhile back. So, what's next? Mountain Dew Crystal? Mountain Dew Brown? Vanilla Mountain Dew? I am honestly quite curious considering how they seem to come out with a new flavour every year.

Brand Overview: Mountain Dew Pitch Black combines the great taste of Mountain Dew with a blast of black grape flavor. It follows in the footsteps of Mountain Dew LiveWire, which grew the Mountain Dew trademark more than 10% during its inaugural six-month run in 2003. Building on that successful strategy, Mountain Dew Pitch Black will capitalize on excitement leading up to Halloween with a shorter, 10-week on-shelf stretch beginning August 21. In addition to Mountain Dew Pitch Black's spooky package graphics and in-store displays, a theatre commercial - parodying "B" horror movies - will support the new brand in 4,000 movie theatres. Additional marketing support includes an Internet "Dewsletter" and product sampling at General Growth Properties malls and at this week's ESPN X Games in Los Angeles. Mountain Dew Pitch Black will be available in 20-oz bottles, 2-liter bottles and 12-packs of 12-ounce cans.

Mountain Dew Pitch Black is a novelty drink scheduled to hit stores shelves in late August of 2004. Pitch Black combines grape flavor with Mountain Dew original for a taste that is surprisingly refreshing and a bit more mellow than straight-up Mountain Dew. The near-black color will limit this beverage's mass market potential, but it will undoubtedly generate PR buzz which should prompt consumers to give it a try. We don't see curiousity turning into repeat sales; so Pepsi is definitely doing it right by releasing it for a limited time. Overall, a decent beverage and a creative move for Pepsi.

According to the article, it's near black, anyway.

What's the problem with that? Coke is pretty much black.

Yeah they still sell Livewire. I don't know if I'll like Mountain Dew black...I already have one motor oil sludge looking cola of choice, Coke.

I'll give it a shot though...

Code Red works in small doses, too much and it tastes like abortion fluid.

LiveWire was just bad.

Baja Blast was worse.

This.... Well, this sounds okay. The soda is not just sludge brown, but is black as night, and the foam bubbles are neon blue. I don't expect it to sell well.

Had some the other day when I was driving my buddy Chris to work so he could pick up his paycheck, and then he bought the Benoit DVD with it. Tastes like carbonated Dimetapp. Hated it.

Now SoBe. THAT is a great beverage. Doesn't matter the flavor, it's ALL good.

I swear, every God damn time I'm drinking this stuff, one of my co-workers asks me "is that stuff any good?"

Um...if I didn't think it was, WHY THE FUCK WOULD I BE DRINKING IT.

Finally had some the other day, it was allright, nothing I'd buy regularly though...

So as it goes, MD is 2.5 for 4 with me (I love original and Livewire, sorta like PitchBlack and hate CodeRed)
