I'm surprised no one's mentioned that Henry Gale is Dorothy's uncle in The Wizard of Oz. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, but just thought I'd let you all know.

It was, a few pages back. :P

Ok, WTF was the deal with this in the preview for upcoming episodes..

Sun: "Sawyer, I need a pregnancy test"

Uh.. what? First of all, have Sun and Sawyer ever even talked to each other on the island? Second, why the fuck would you ask Sawyer of all people, to give you a pregnancy test? Does he carry them around in his pocket or something?

Because he has everything.

I agree with most, great episode, so much packed into one show.

Kate looking through Friendly's locker might have been one of the most suspenseful scenes of the series. I was waiting for something to happen.

Echo's scene was tremendous, and I had no clue what he was doing when he went to cut the part of his beard off. What was he building? And how violent or non-violent will his "path of righteousness" be?

I still don't fully trust Libby.

I enjoyed learning a more human side of Rousseau.

I think the drugs are something that messes with someone's mind, or can make someone more easily influenced. I don't think it prevents infection, but making them believe it does keeps them following orders.

I thought the cutting off of the beard was his "removal of his guilt" over him killing two of the guy's friends. The two little icicles (what do you call them?) were like heavy chains around his neck and now they can be removed.

This was the first episode in a long time that felt like it was actually part of the planned story arc. The Claire flashbacks were fresh, interesting, and relevant to the story rather than just being the same shit told over again to fill time.

I really like that the Others are just pretending to be wandering ragamuffin types to gain the trust of the islanders and are actually sitting back in luxury and manipulating them the whole time. Makes them seem a lot more scary and significant.

My big question now is what's the deal with the virus? Is it really all imagined? Is it laying dormant somewhere until someone does something to get infected? And the creepiest thing of all, is it on that blue little booty that Claire brought back from the hatch? Even with the happy music playing, I was just cringing the whole time as the baby had that in his mouth, thinking OMG, he's getting the virus right now! What are you doing woman!?!

Anyway, this felt like a Season 1 episode and I really liked it all-around. Definitely has me excited for the upcoming episodes again, especially Locke IV.

Man was that good! Random observations/theory stuff:

1. After finding out that the Others are nice, clean cut people, I think that they are not the only group of Others. The group that Jin and Eko saw in the jungle must be the "real" Others, the savages on the island. Perhaps the DHARMA group (Friendly, Ethan, Goodwin) are trying to pit the Losties against the savage Others? Eliminate two birds with one stone?

2. After hearing about the list, I agree that Goodwin was a member of the DHARMA group.

3. Gale is definatly sowing seeds of distrust amongst the Losties, and I'm disappointed that Locke is falling for it. I think Sayid or Eko will call Gale on it.....and then promptly slit his throat.

4. The medical hatch was another of the five DHARMA stations? So now we've seen three (the countdown hatch, the Tailies hatch, and this medical one). Should be two left.

5. How do the DHARMA people get all this stuff? Methinks they still have a connection to the outisde world. Or a really, really, really big storage supply!

6. Did Desmond run to make contact with Friendly and company? How else would Friendly know that Locke opened the hatch?

I think Locke is just playing along with Gale's mind games. He knows that Gale can hear everything from his cell.

It'd be rather out of character for him to fall so easily into the trap, no matter how much he may resent Jack.

Why does everybody think the clean-cut guy talking to Ethan was Mr. Friendly? They look completely similar. If anything I think the "He" and "Him" that the guy referred to will turn out to be Friendly.

Awesome, awesome episode. Defiently in the Top Five for this season so far, maybe Top Three.

I smell an Eko heel turn. I half-expected him to give Gale the knife because he needs Gale to pass along Eko's forgiveness to the higher-ups.

I think you made some typos but I don't know where. That guy was definitely Zeke/Mr. Friendly/whatever we're calling the character M.C. Gainey is playing. The "bearded" other.

The SNOWMAN

One of the Lost mysteries is the WEB-MAZE, a series of sites that open and close dealing with the Lost Universe.

The bulk of the webmaze deals with the story of an operative named SNOWMAN. He works with Dr. Candle and against Hanso. His story basically takes him around the world, and finally to the island.

He is captured, but Candle & Co. with help from a young girl who has special powers, manage to get him (and the girl) outta there. They are supposedly escaped but still on the island fighting the hanso operations.

Go figure. I can post a link to the whole thing if you want...but that might explain alot if we take it as canon (all the sites were licensed to various firms associated with abc).

I was stoked when they showed Kate finding the theatrical glue & the faux-beard. I hated how fake it looked when they showed Friendly talking to Jack, Lock & Sawyer the night that they traded Kate for the guns ... I was actually surprised when none of the survivors referenced how fake it looked. So to have it 'proven' as a fake beard was a nice bit of closure for me.

And, LotC ... their voices were damn near identical. How could you not presume that the guy shown talking to was Friendly, sans beard?

Did I miss something or did things flip-flop this week. Last episode Locke was the one convincing Jack that they needed to be sure about this guy and had to keep him locked up...Now all of a sudden Locke's pleading the guy's case and Jack's the one saying they need to keep him hidden away till they're sure....

Trying to dodge the spoilers here since I haven't watched the episode yet, but if iMDB is correct, Darren Aronofsky's episode of Lost is only two episodes away.

Awesome episode but i'm gonna be really pissed if Locke is actually falling for such an obvious ploy by Gale. Hopefully he's putting on an act for him since he can hear. If he did that, he'd be the Locke of old. Brilliant. The last couple of eps have been exceptional now that I think about it, but the breaks make me forget. If there was ever a show that needs 24, The Shield, Battlestar Galactica type "non-stop seasons" its this one.

I had the idea the other night that before the season is over we'll see Locke take off and join up with The Others but the reason he's doing it will be primarily to see what they're up against.

Would the others trust Locke?

I'm not so sure. I think they realize HE's the one THEY need to worry about.

If Gale's plan is to try and get Locke to turn on Jack then it's clear that Jack is the one they wanted crossed off the list. I think Gale recognizes Locke as an intellectual and is treating him as such. I don't think he views Jack in the same light.

And I really wanted Eko to start his chat with Henry with "If you allow me, I will begin at the beggining"

As I said earlier in this thread, any Locke fanboy that thinks that Locke's "mastermind/genius" label hasn't been ruined since this season began is crazy at this point. I'd love to be proved wrong, but Locke has become more and more of an ordinary character this season than the badass he was last year. His character is certainly more susceptible to these sort of mindgames, and it never seems quite like he's the guy with the plan at all. He never seems to have any kind of plan anymore, actually.

Yeah I suggested that Locke may be joining up with the Others before the season is over, if he hasn't already but we haven't found out yet. If anything, he may be doing it because he feels like he's losing control over the group to Jack, or even Sawyer who completely worked him a couple episodes ago.

Or that they don't want a doctor with scientific reason around.

Agreed. Jack represents a larger threat to the Others than Locke does.

^ I agree.

I was thinking that during the actual episode, when Kate & Claire went out on the hunt for Rousseau, with just the two of them & only one gun. One would think that the danger of running into a group of much more skilled adversaries, with guns, that already captured two people from their group, would be reason enough to travel with a pack of people.

Instead it's just like 'out of sight, out of mind' regarding Michael & Walt.
