UZI Suicide Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 Do you think there are WWE fans who only watch one brand (RAW or Smackdown), not because the other one isn't good, but just because they are loyal to one and don't like the other(sort of like WCW vs. WWF) I ask this because it seemed like at SummerSlam with the little Teddy Long-Eric Bischoff thing backstage they might have possibly been hinting at a RAW vs. Smackdown thing at Summerslam, and so I wonder if guys from one show "invaded" the other to attack it's wrestlers, what the reception from the crowd would be. I remember when WWE "re-drafted" the rosters a while ago, which of course never ended up being anything and the only important people who switched were RVD and Booker T, but I remember that night Eddie Guerrero wrestled Triple H on RAW. At that time Eddie Guerrero's character was REALLY hot, he was just way over, but on RAW he didn't seem to get much of a reaction and it actually seemed at some points like Triple H was more over with the crowd. Sort of like Eddie was an "outsider".

Guest CronoT Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I can watch both RAW and SD!, but I rarely watch SD!. The few times I've watched it since the brand split, it seemed to be extremely substandard to me. Transferring some of the RAW people to SD! just seemed to make it worse for me. Now, it just seems like they took some very good guys, and are now wasting them.
razazteca Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 Survivor Series needs to have a War Games match.....or a 2 ring Elimation Chamber main event. EDIT: I forgot to use this month's special phrase Slow Burn
Guest TigerDriver91 Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 Survivor Series needs to have a War Games match.....or a 2 ring Elimation Chamber main event. Who would you pick to be involved in the War Games match?
Spaceman Spiff Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I watch both shows every week. If I had to choose only 1 show to watch, it'd probably be Smackdown.
Eclipse Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 My friend absolutely hates Smackdown and their lack of good booking. He had the chance to go with me to the last SD house show on July 31st in NJ for 10 bucks, and he passed. He only watches RAW.

Guest The Decadent Slacker Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 The only bias i've seen the average fan have is one of timing. Thursday just isn't a typical wrestling night for a lot of people, so it's usually RAW or they watch both. That's just been from my personal observation. I've yet to see an actual full fledged SD! fan.
Astro7x Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I thought Linda said that there would not be any Raw vs. Smackdown matches until Wrestlemania
The Czech Republic Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I never watch Smackdown, but I'll drop in on Raw now and then, now moreso because OAORaw sharpens my quick thinking skills. I don't much enjoy either show, to be honest.
Guest Tjhe CyNick Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I remember the WWE said on one of their investor conferences that only 30% of the audience of SD and RAW watch both shows. Personally, I found that to be a load, but whatever. My guess would be that a small percentage of people dont have access to both shows. I think Spike is available is like 82% of homes whereas UPN is in 89% or something like that. So if you only have access to one show, obviously that would make you a fan of just one. I say the vast majority of the 5 million or so viewers that they average per week watch both shows, thats why the numbers are so close to one another. I would also say that RAW would draw in a larger casual audience because the show has been around longer, MOnday's is the "wrestling night" going back to the Monday Night War days and because RAW tends to get things like Rock showing up out of nowhere, wheras SD doesn't get that luxury. But I cant see there being more than a handful of people who are "RAW fans" or "SD fans" and have no interest in the other product but knows it exists. For example, I know up here in Canada a lot of people dont watch SD because its on a much worse channel than TSN (no offence Score supporters), so people may not know it exists. And for the most part, like I said, your real casual fans may not even really know SD exists. But again, I would say the vast majority of people will watch both shows. They may say one is better, but they still watch or at least follow both.
The Tino Standard Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I get both Spike TV and UPN. I work Monday nights, but not Thursday nights. Despite this, I never EVER miss Raw (via the magic of videotape, mind you), and I never watch Smackdown. I've got better things to do than watch the WWE's minor league show on my days off.
Guest jfscjrs Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I'am myself am a full-lenght SmackDown! Fan. Yeah, I do watch Raw sometimes but I watch SmackDown! everyweek. I just think SD! puts on an overall better wrestling product than Raw. Not to mention, better talents, better charaters, more simpler storylines and an overall better athmophere. Taped or not, Its still the better WWE Brand. guys like Eddie.G,Undertaker,Angle,JBL,Mysterio,Cena, The Cruiserweights makes SmackDown! entertaining to me.
JoeDirt Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I have a hard time picturing a RAW vs. Smackdown match with fans cheering "YEAH! RAW! FUCKING _RAW_ WON, BITCHES!" Or vice versa with Smackdown. But I guess people really don't get involved emotionally into matches anymore anyways...at least very rarely. It's more of just cheering for entertaining characters and spots, etc. But if John Cena gets pinned on Smackdown...do the fans really fucking care?

UZI Suicide Posted August 25, 2004 Author Report Posted August 25, 2004 Off-topc: Is that Mick Foley in the bottom right? No, I think it's just some musician friend of Jimmy Hart's.
Guest Dan 420 Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I'm a loyal Raw fan. Always have been. Maybe because it was the first successful TV show for WWE which has lasted the longest and has had so many memorable moments, I don't know. Even though I enjoy Smackdown (although not so much now), I'm always more concerned with watching Raw than I ever am with Smackdown.

Even when the Smackdown Six were rocking out ****+ matches every week and Raw had Nash/HHH, I always watched Raw.
