strummer Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Found this post from Meltzer on WC: "Kevin Nash faked a heart attack so he wouldn't have to job. bullied everyone for years. totally unprofessional in laughing about matches he had to job in during the match itself (the time he laid down for Chris Daniels in UPW) and his treatment of Terry Funk pop to mind--double crossing him on an interview and laughing to the rest of the boys at how he made the famous Terry Funk tongue-tied (since he double-crossed the spot) and then not selling a thing for him in the ring. Nash vs. Piper when he also wouldn't sell for him and then tried to pick a fight with him." Was the Heart Attack deal at Starcade 97? Not wanting to job to the Giant? What was the deal with Funk?, I wasn't really watching WCW back then Ditto for Piper
DCMaximo Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 If I recall correctly, the Giant had just learnt how to perform a moonsault and Nash was too scared to be on the receiving end of such a move, which sucks because I'd have loved to see Paul Wight hit that before his decline to obesity
Fökai Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 The heart attack incident was indeed in reference to the Starrcade PPV, where Nash refused to job to Big Show. Even so, the feud continued without a hitch (the "powerbomb" angle at Souled out), but the fans did feel like they were screwed out of seeing Nash get his come-uppance. Starrcade was built on the notion that WCW would FINALLY get their revenge on the nWo, but after Nash's refusal to job and Hogan's bribery of Nick Patrick behind closed doors, the night ended on a big thud with the fans. IIRC, Bischoff was the only nWo character that jobbed cleanly that night.
Use Your Illusion Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 And you thought Triple H was bad...
Guest Staravenger Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 And somehow people like Nash despite being a shitty wrestler, he couldn't draw dick with a boat filled with hookers, and is probably one of the biggest jackoffs in recent history.
JoeDirt Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Stupid question...but what is WC? Is it another board or something?

Because while Patrick always counted kind of slow, that match came off weird because when Hogan pins Sting it seems to be a normal count.

Somehow, Patrick fudged a fast count, which you can't really do without trying. He later claimed it was an honest mistake, but few buy that.

Can I spot the mediocre, overpushed wrestler? Why sure I can, cos' it's actually BOTH OF THEM!!!!!

I'd assume the Funk thing is from Souled Out 2000 (where Benoit won the belt). They had Funk vs Nash for the commish spot, and Nash basically squashed Funk and powerbombed him through two chairs.
Sideburnious Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 Good ol' Nash, you can see his heart was truely in the business and not on his own ass
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted September 16, 2004 Report Posted September 16, 2004 1. Nash vs. Daniels? When and why? From a UPW card earlier in the year. It was Hall and Nash against Daniels and someone else, and Nash and Hall totally clowned their way through the match, making it clear to all and sundry they considered it a joke. And when Nash did the job to Daniels it was one of the classic 'jobs that isn't a job' deals', that does more harm than good to the person getting the pin.
evilhomer Posted September 16, 2004 Report Posted September 16, 2004 I vaguely recall a promo cut on Funk where he was berating his age and the fact that he can't go in the ring anymore. The irony of Kevin Nash making such a statement was lost on him. He went on saying how he's saved his money so he doesn't have to be like him. Heelish dick comments to make so the argument could be made that it was just in character, but in typical Nash fashion, his comments did nothing to make you want to watch a match and only served to undermine his opponent.
