Star Wars Trilogy DVD Set

Recommended Posts

I haven't heard about an EpIII trailer being out there. I'm positive the first teaser will be shown at theaters on November or December.

That sounds about right. IIRC, the Episode 1 teaser showed up in November 98.

Iheard there was a Darth Vader vs. Darth Maul comic somewhere out there...   Has anyone ever read it? If so, what's it about?

There was only a "Who would win" type segment in an Wizard issue. The authors decided to give the win to Vader, since he was more powerful.

Not to mention Vader had 22 years of momentum, where Maul had... six months

you also have to consider Padiwan Obi-Wan Kenobi was able to beat Maul where as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi couldn't stop Anakin or Vader...though on the latter I'm guessing he pretty much decided to sacrifice himself...

Yeah 22 years of momentum means nothing. Just b/c Maul looked cool didn't mean anything......Vader is the original badass.

*sidenote*Vader's famous breathing creeps my mom out. She says it's scary.

After watchin the Episode 3 Teaser and seeing Hayden with the Mask and Costume on....

I wonder now...Will Darth Vader's voice be James Earl Jones or Haydens?

it damn well better be James Earl Jone. So Classic, So Sininster, So Evil..... Wont be the same without him

Guest El Satanico

it damn well better be James Earl Jones' voice or Lucas will next over dub Vaders voice in the original films with whoever does it in the movie.

Hopefully we won't see enough of Vader to hear him do much talking.

thought I read somewhere James Earl Jones signed on for 3?  maybe i'm wrong?

You're right. I just checked the profile under Yahoo Movies and he's listed as a member of the cast.

He's listed last ... so maybe that's an indication of the size of the role.

Just a little more info - I checked out imdb.com and the full list of characters / actors is posted.

Interesting to note is the return of at least 2 notable characters from the original trilogy.

Interesting tidbit. I'll look for it when I watch the movie again. Is it exactly like the one in the Shadows of the Empire comics?

I never read the comics, but it is the same as the one in the video game. Another interesting tidbit, in Rebel Dawn by AC Crispin, Rendar meets Solo in the Cantina a few minutes before Luke & Obi-Wan show up, so it is in the EU that he was there on Tatoonie.

As far as Anakin's turn to the darkside...I truely think it happens when he faces Dooku in a showdown and ends up mercilessly killing him, basically the opposite of what Luke did in his finaly battle with Vader (Luke had the chance to kill him which would have turned him to the darkside but he chose not to).

That's my theory, too. Plus the fact Dooku chopped off his part of his arm, aka Luke/Vader in TESB. And Part III will mirror VI only with Anikan doing what Luke didn't at the end. The rest of what you said I had a differing opinion on.

Just saw some Special Features -- I so marked out at the Sneak Peek section with Ani and Obi One fighting.

Having completed some Marketing/Advertising classes in college, I always get a kick out of the old trailers/teasers -- man were they cheesy. It's also amusing to look for scenes in the trailer that were cut from the movie -- I think I saw one that featured C3PO tearing something off a wall.

Also I laughed at the pimping of Lando in the trailers -- it was like "See, now we have a black guy in on it!"

One thing I chuckled at as well is that in A New Hope, when C3PO says "Thank the Maker" when getting that oil bath he's talking about Darth Vader.

And finally, I watched episodes I and II over the past few days, and it was a shame that Darth Maul wasn't fleshed out more. I was really disappointed with how little time he got. And for all the faults Episode I had, I did like the final saber fight between Obi/Maul/and that other guy whose name I can't spell...

Originally, the plan was to have Wampa's able to penetrate Echo Base. C3PO was tearing a "Beware: Wampa's" sign off the wall, leading to Imperial Troops unknowingly encountering (and being slaughtered by) Wampa's.

I have to believe that the droids somehow get their memories erased at the end of III, maybe as a preventive measure to protect Luke and Leia. Otherwise, when Leia gives R2 the secret plans in IV, they both should know exactly who Kenobi is.

Lucas has confirmed that they get memory wipes in at least two interviews.

After watching ESB last week, I'm more than a little disappointed with Temuera Morrison's voice work as Boba Fett. Don't get me wrong, I understand why they did it, and I love the fact that they did do it, but the original Fett sounded so much more sinister.

Quick question then.

Why doesn't either Owen or Beru remember C-3PO? R2, I can understand, he wasn't around them all that much, but C3P0 lived them for what a couple of years? The only thing I can think of is that they act like they don't know him to sheild Luke from his father's past, but that seems rather flimsy to me.

Maybe they did...maybe that's why Owen was getting on Luke to get there memories erased so quickly.

On another note, watching RotJ right now, one of the little edits I hate is when Han is trying to get Lando after he gets the blaster and Lando says "I thught you were blind." and they change it from "It's all right, trust me." a classic Han line to "It's all right, I can see alot better now."

I thought Han always said "I can see a lot better now"...also, i can't remember what the ending music was to ROTJ since Lucas apparently changed it with the Special Editions? damn guess I'm not as big a Star Wars geek as I thought...

You're better for it, trust me. When I was a kid I would press stop immediately after Vader's funeral because I hated that damn Ewok music so much.

I meant that in the preview they showed in the DVD for the video game they didn't show Jar-Jar getting vaporized, or at least I didn't see it.

And I don't care about killing Gungans -- heck, some of my best friends are Gungans. It's just those Gungans that I want wiped out, you know the one that are a discredit to their race.

Jeez, no wonder I hate you... :P
