Kardo Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Wow, just wow. I'm in shock. RIP Bossman.
GreatWhiteNope Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Ah shit. RIP Ray. Good guy - great performer.
The Niggardly King Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 I honestly envisioned Bossman being one of those guys around for a while, like till his 70's, and always doing little bit parts in the WWE.
Guest TheLastBoyscout Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 "100 Reasons Why Bossman Ruled" Make it happen, TSM.
Fökai Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 He was always overweight, especially Wrestlemania V and earlier... but never seemed unhealthy. As far as I can recall, Traylor was in great shape from his WCW run in 1993 until his recent WWE return in 2002.
DMann2003 Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 He was one of the first wrestling figures I owned.... I'm just numbed by this, it's Mr. Perfect & Elizabeth all over, I will be shocked if this death is due to "outside" circumstances, still too young though. Big Bossman you were a helluva wrestler and entertainer and DMann2003 says so...RIP
Downhome Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Yeah, Bossman really got in pretty good shape.
Guest ian. Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 I don't care what anyways says, I always loved his feud with nailz. Rest in peace.
Zack Malibu Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Now he can finally get Rude for saying that stuff about his mother. What about his matches with Vader in '94? Those were some pretty good big man brawls.
SinToxic Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 That's terrible, nowadays they can't even pass 40 with an ease. I loved his match against Mr. Perfect at WM 7 and as a kid seeing him feud with Vader in WCW is something I'll never forget. RIP Big Bubba
geniusMoment Posted September 23, 2004 Author Report Posted September 23, 2004 Bossman threw a right hand much like Dustin Rhodes, it always seemed to connect and made a loud smack, I always thought it was quite good.
Zack Malibu Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 And who would have ever thought he'd resurface with a major push as McMahon's henchman in the attitude era after spending his WCW career going from gimmick to gimmick and having such notable feuds as the one with Tenta?
JoeDirt Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 My favorite Bossman moment is from one of the Foley books. Foley is wrestling Bossman at an amusement park and says something about how he saw Bossman puking after riding the Scooby Doo (a small kid's) ride. Bossman then, instead of denying it, says something to the effect of "hey, I have a weak stomach for those things!" I didn't get it exactly right, but you get the idea. Rest in peace, Ray Traylor.
GreatWhiteNope Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Ray's official website has a lot of video clips from his career: http://www.raytraylor.net/Multimedia/Movies/movies.shtml
Mecha Mummy Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 One of my favorite memories of Bossman was when he came back in 2002 as Vince and Booker T's flunkie and on a Smackdown Booker T came into a room where Vince and Bossman were and declared that his new catchphrase would be "Who?" as an answer to Austin's "What?" catchphrase. Book runs it into the ground a few times and then leaves, and then after a beat of silence... Bossman: "... Who?" And Vince just sort of shrugs it off, both knowing that it's one of the worst catchphrase ideas ever.
Guest BrokenWings Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 I am in total and utter shock right now. When I first read the topic title, I figured it was some unreliable source, such as the one's which reported Vis and Vader dead. My heart sank when I read it was from Meltz. He was one of those guys I grew up admiring as a little mark, and I'll always remember his match with the Mountie. I never expected him to go so soon. 42 years old, and in good shape. Didn't seem to be in the drug scene, as far as I can recall, anyways. Wow...just wow. I've still got one of the old school figures of him, as The Big Bossman, where hardly anything moved, but if you lifted his leg, he dropped the arm. I might go dig it up and place it somewhere it can be seen so I won't forget. Thank you for everything you've done in this sport. R.I.P. Ray Traylor.
Downhome Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 I'll always remember Summerslam '90, with Bossman in Hogan's corner vs. Earthquake with Dino in his corner. I can't believe that two of the guys involved in that are now gone, and Earthquake has been told he'll pass in a few years. Yet Hogan remains...he is the immortal one you know.
Use Your Illusion Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Hogan is like Roberts, he'll outlive the next seven generations.
Australian Pride Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 My favourite Bossman moment: Eliminating Hulk from the Royal Rumble. I remember being in shock over that as Hulk, along with Andre and Savage, was the hot favourites. If only more had been done with it he could have been a legit headliner for a few years. Savage/Hogan was the money match for Mania, but surely something could have been done to elevate him proper. Hope the afterlife treats you well Bossman.
2GOLD Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 You always know there is going to be one you never see coming. I never saw this coming. Bossman was horribly underrated as a heel, he was underrated as a worker for his size and he was always underrated for his work on the mic. His Big Show feud made me groan most of the time but damn it also made me laugh. A real shame. I just hope for the best for his family.
LucharesuFan619 Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 My eyes just bugged out like they've never done before when I saw this title. My condolences go out to his family (obviously they're not reading this, but still). That's horrible. RIP, BBM. Like everyone's said, thanks for all the memories, and I have a lot of them.

I have never actually seen that Rumble...how did the Hogan elimination come about? I'd be remiss not to mention the Twin Towers, one of the best big man tag teams in history, IMO. He had a pretty damn good run in WCW in 1994 as The Boss. The matches with Vader were good. Anyone else remember his 1-2 week face turn in 1999?
therealworldschampion Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Goddamn it, with him, Perfect, and Liz all now gone, this is getting to be too much. RIP Bossman
Use Your Illusion Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Traylor was only 42 years old, too.
Downhome Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Into my sig goes the greatest quote ever in wrestling.
Guest news_gimmick Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 RIP Bossman I'll always remember his best stretch as a wrestler and the most popular he was, from about late 1990 - 1991. He got into awesome shape and was putting on great matches with the Heenan family, culminating at WM 7 with the title match with Perfect. And who can forget the jailhouse match with the Mountie at SummerSlam 91? Oh man I was laughing so hard at the segements afterwards, but I enjoyed the match Bossman put on with the Mountie. It's a sad evening for us all.
The Amazing Rando Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Wow. I'm quite literally stunned. RIP.
Guest BDC Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 I hate to hear this, but I'd guess it was the same condition that put Ventura out of the ring. Oh well, lift a glass for a guy that you loved as a kid.
