Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 I saw this thread over at DVDTalk and many were saying they pay $10-$15 for a ticket, some people pay the same thing at all hours, and I was just wondering what the responses here would be like. For me, here ya go. I always watch my movies in Anderson, SC since they are the closest to me with the stadium seating, big screens, and great sound setups. Anyway, there are two in Anderson and both are the same price. Matinees (Before 4:00 PM) = $5 Matinees (4-6 PM) = $4.50 Evening = $7 Sincerely, ...Downhome... Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 To keep everything in perspective, let us know where the theater is that you are talking about, and what the quality of the place is. Like if it's stadium seating, sound, screen, etc...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 22, 2004 When I saw Shaun of the Dead Sunday night it was $8.50 a ticket. I paid for two people, and it's nuts to do that when I can buy the bloody DVD for not much more. I believe it's around $6 for matinee

Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 I can't believe some people have to pay almost $15 just for a ticket for a single film. I go to the movies all the time, and I don't think I could put up with that.

Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 Tip for you college kids - hang on to your college ID's. I graduated in '97, and I use my ID all the time to get a student discount. The high school kids selling tickets don't care, so all you gotta do is flash it for a second, and you've got a discounted ticket.

sfaJack 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 I don't pay anything. The theatre near me is in the mall and is notorious for crying kids, cell phones, and teenagers, so I just stay home and watch DVD's. Prices are too high, anyway.

Guest ArchoanJB Report post Posted October 22, 2004 Heh, I work in a theatre, There is another theatre in town that we share movies with (in a town of 60,000 2 theatres mainstream theatres is too many as were finding out). Our prices are the same as our competitors which are... Matinees = 6.00 After 6 = 8.00 Students = 7.00 We have all Stadium Seating, and all digital sound, the other theatre has two stadium (one older, one really really horrible) and no digital sound. The other non stadium seatin is horrible sound/picture wise (I saw Spiderman 2 there..horrible)

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted October 22, 2004 Not a damn thing. I used to work at the local Goodrich Theater, and my uncle owns the dump, so I waltz in like I own the place, give the bozo behind the counter a free pass which my uncle gave me a box of, and watch whatever I want. I rarely go, though, since there aren't many new movies I'm interested in that they play.

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2004 In Charlottesville, VA, the theaters are smart: half the population is college kids, so of course they're not going to offer a student ticket. $8 a ticket at night, for both the shitty dump theater with ripped seats and for the reasonably nice Regal theater downtown. No stadium seats, though, and they all have problems with sound on a few screens. Back home on the west coast of Florida, it's much better. The Regal Hollywood 20 is massive, gorgeous, and full of stadium-seating. $7.75 for an adult ticket...and $6 for students. Not bad at all.
