razazteca Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 Almost everywhere I go I see people making comments about these 2 pop icons. Bruce is living off of the Evil Dead series while Walken can't get enough cowbell. So who is the bigger star?
starvenger Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 Bigger star - Walken My bigger pop culture deity? Walken. Like William Shatner, he's one of those guys where his role is always "Christopher Walken as X", bu for Walken, it works. Whether it's talking about cowbell, dancing in a Fatboy Slim video or talking about the Tooth Fairy, it works.
razazteca Posted October 24, 2004 Author Report Posted October 24, 2004 What no love for the Prophecy series?
Guest JMA Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 A tough choice, but Bruce Campbell gets my vote. "Hail to the king, baby."
Boner Kawanger Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 Bruce Campbell played an elderly Elvis that fought a mummy alongside a black man who thought he was JFK. I love Walken, but there's no beating THAT. And Evil Dead II. And "If Chins Could Kill..."

More or less. It's been that way for Walken as of late. Shatner's been milking the same style since Star Trek. And I'm sure that they know it. And really, I don't care that they do - they're still good at what they do.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 That's a really tough question. I mean, Walken has done some amazing stuff throughout hsi career, including the COWBELL~!, but Campbell was Ash and Brisco MUTHERFUCKING County, Jr.
Vyce Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 My personal god? Bruce all the way. But Walken is a more "mainstream" star, so I can see why more people would vote for him.
razazteca Posted October 24, 2004 Author Report Posted October 24, 2004 I don't think Walken is a mainstream star but rather an easy popular impression to do by stand ups who have no material......thats right I'm talking about Jay Mohr.
spiny norman Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 I picked Walken, though I think Ed Harris is my character actor cult hero.
Ted the Poster Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 Wow. This is like Sophie's Choice. *Flips a coin* Okay, Walken.
Boner Kawanger Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 Wow. This is like Sophie's Choice. Oh, give me a break. We're picking between two actors, one that some people have never heard of and one that despite winning an Academy Award is best known for a one-note joke in an SNL skit. Sophie had to choose which member of her family died in a concentration camp. Our choice is much more important.
razazteca Posted October 24, 2004 Author Report Posted October 24, 2004 Tough choice, indeed, but the overall decision so far has been the crazy insane dancing fool over the b-movie elvis voice actor.

The Amazing Rando Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 I don't think Walken is a mainstream star but rather an easy popular impression to do by stand ups who have no material......thats right I'm talking about Jay Mohr. Shit, you should hear the Donnie Darko DVD commentary with Jake Gyllenhaal doing Walken as Frank The Rabbit.
