Well, I'm assuming that, since Yoda DID say that Luke would be the last of the Jedi on his deathbed in "Return of the Jedi" that there were only two surviving "full fledged" Jedi between Episode III and IV: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. I say full fledged because, even if some younglings and starting Padawans survived, they wouldn't have enough skills to be considered full fledged Jedi...unlike Luke, who seemed by the end of "Return" to be as close to a full fledged Jedi as he could be without going through the old trials and wearing that stupid Padawan braid.

That's not necessarily accurate. In the Clone Wars cartoon there were a few Jedi (at least five) killed by General Grievious, including a couple that appeared on AOTC, so I believe this is considered canon, being the official continuation of said movie. So I'd say Mace Windu, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and those two female Jedi that Yoda rescued in the cartoon. Six by my count, but there could be a couple more at least, but not that many.

That's pretty much it. In the EU there are several Force users that Luke and co encounter, but none are Jedi at that point in time.

It seemed pretty finalized to me, perfectly setting up Episode III by leaving things when Grevious was kicking ass and taking names.

So that means he/she could be another villain but not necessarily a Sith, it just seems they used some older ideas they had available. That "only two Sith" thing is bullshit. Hell, in the comics and the Clone Wars animated series - which Lucas has licensed, mind you - you have at least THREE sith: Palpatine / Sidious, Dooku / Tyrannus, and Asajji Ventress. In the "Tales of the Jedi" comic series it was established (and maintained as canon) that there would only be two Sith in order to be the sole possessors of the Sith power (which is, of course, part of the dark side). Asajji Ventress is a Dark Side user, and follows some Sith principles, but is NOT a Sith. No offense, as I know you obviously don't have any control over it, but that the "only two Sith" thing is unspeakably LAME ASS.

Not really, if you know some history behind it. You see, there were, before Episode I, a huge number of Sith. Their numbers grew and grew rapidly, building...strengthening However, due to the size, there were many conflicts WITHIN the Sith ranks...Sith vs. Sith, that lead to the start of the demise of the Sith. Later, a Sith by the name of Darth Bane made a new ruling for Sith...to prevent Sith in-fighting like there was when there were many Sith, there would only be two...a Master and an apprentice. I'm sure that someone here could better flesh out the explaination. I just did that from memory from when I read the Episode I novelization.

justsoyouknow Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 - Expect one of the final shots of the film to be Vader, Tarkin and Palpatine on a Star Destroyer bridge looking out onto space at the beginnings of a Death Star in progress...(but not necessarily THE last shot of the film...) my understanding of the last shot before iris out will be on Tatooine. - When Padme faces Anakin on Mustafar, Anakin is incredibly upset with her when he realizes she brought Obi-Wan with her. She led Obi-Wan right to him. From Anakin's point of view, he trusted her and she betrayed him. Anakin force-chokes Padme and throws her aside (where she also hits her head.) Then, the duel begins amidst the corpses of the slaughtered Seperatist leaders. - The twins are born on a brand new never-before seen world (whose name has not been revealed yet.) They land there when they realize that Padme isn't going to make it if they keep pushing on to Alderaan. The natives of this planet resemble little grey close encounters/roswell aliens. Padme finally succumbs to her wounds suffered from Anakin during the birthing scene. She is able to share a few choice words with Obi-Wan before passing. Bail, Obi-Wan and Yoda hatch the plans for what to do with the children. Bail sees to it that C-3PO's memory is wiped. Yoda is dropped off via escape pod at Dagobah where he will await the proper time to do his part. The jedi have been utterly duped and defeated by films end. - Medical droids turn the remains of Anakin Skywalker (now named Darth Vader) into the classic trilogy cyborg Darth Vader we know and love. His reveal is very "Frankenstein." (He lays on a slab that slowly rises up when he is completed.) When Vader rises, his first desire is knowledge of Padme's fate. Palpatine calmly and cooly tells him that she is dead and that he(Anakin/Vader) killed her. His sorrow and regret result in an awe-inspiring physical manifestation of the dark side of the force. The entire room buckles and twists away from his anguished screams. Every droid in the room is obliterated. Palpatine has to muster all of his powers just to shield himself from Vader's wrath. Vader's echoed scream segues directly into the next scene: Padme's funeral procession. Credit: TheForce.net forums This sounds amazing. And pardon my lack of knowledge of the extended universe! The argument could go on forever though, with those claiming that it's canon and those saying that it's not. The description of Vader's reaction gives me goosebumps...

Lucas mentions this on the DVDs of the original trilogy. Especially in ROTJ where Vader wants Luke to kill the Emperor so that Vader can become Emperor, and Palpatine wants Luke to kill Vader (who is growing disloyal and is weaker than Luke) and become his new apprentice.

In ESB when he 1st arrived, he did say there was something familiar about this place. That would have been great foreshadowing on George's part.

Polis Massa is "the birth planet." How does that factor in with EU?
