MrRant 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=5723 - Trailers I'm really looking forward to this. December 25th can't come fast enough.
MDH257 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 I hope it really is released everywhere on Christmas Day and not one of these movies where it opens in NY and LA on Christmas and everywhere else in the middle of January.
Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Being a Wes Anderson film with a Wes Anderson cast, it should be interesting to gauge its mainstream success.
Guest Boomer Sprinklespax Report post Posted November 14, 2004 I'm definitely looking forward to it but, even so, I'm just a tad scared it won't live up to expectations. It's a bit of a departure for Anderson really, what with the computer animation and the supposed action scenes and stuff. Also, the fact that Owen Wilson didn't help write the screenplay (as he did with Wes' other three movies) could prove unfortunate. Still, it's probably my most anticipated movie for the rest of 2004. This or Closer.
Lando Griffin 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 I saw the trailer before Garden State and was totally unimpressed.
Mik 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Paraphrasing: Bill Murray: I love this time of night, you can hear the whales. *horn goes off* Owen Wilson: Ah, that's beautiful. I wonder what they're saying. Bill Murray: Actually, that was a garbage barge... that's the whales. And the whole time Owen is standing there with a pipe in his mouth and a smoking jacket on... Just hilarious. Can't wait for this. It's been 3 years since the last Wes Anderson movie. Too long. Owen didn't help to write this one, but he's starring in it and that should be good enough. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Actually it was "Well, that was the sludge tanker" but the scene was great regardless. Count me in for list of people who are psyched on it. Best cast I've seen in a long time.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Guy: What will be the scientific purpose of killing it? Murray:...revenge. I was sold after that line.
dpac 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 I think that each of Anderson's movies get better, so I am really looking forward to this one. Will be tough to top Tenenbaums since it is one of my personal favorites.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 I'm looking really forward to it also, and I'm glad to see others talking about it. I almost started a thread about the film last night, but went to bed instead.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Guy: What will be the scientific purpose of killing it? Murray:...revenge. I was sold after that line. As was I. This is a Bill Murray vehicle, so I'm bound to watch it at some point. But this one looks pretty damn good.
Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Shame that we don't get it until February.
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2004 I'm planning to see this too; Wes Anderson is one of my favoite directors. I was sold when DaFoe got all pissy and said "Thanks. Thanks for not picking me."
Guest Boomer Sprinklespax Report post Posted November 15, 2004 Shame that we don't get it until February. I thought it came out on Christmas...? Did it get pushed back or something?
MDH257 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2004 I just saw an ad that says it opens December 10th in NY and LA and nationwide (and presumably Canada) on Christmas Day.

A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2004 I also I'm planing on seeing this movie as soon as I can. I am a big Royal Tenenbaums fan, plus....back in Senior year during high school I had an aquatic science class. We spent half of the time in the class watching nothing but videos from that French oceanogrpaher Jacque Closteau. This film looks to pay homage to that man. One great moment in the videos was when Jacque had an interview with Fidel Castro which was so funny on the unintentional comedy scale.
Si82 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2004 Add me to the list of people looking forward to this film. "Bottle Rocket" is one of my favourite films ever and I loved "The Royal Tenenbaums" too. The trailer looked pretty good and it has a great case so things are looking good for it. Then "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" after that!
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2007 I have no idea why I bumped this but I've been on a Wes Anderson kick lately and god-fucking-damn if this movie isn't amazing. It didn't really stick the first time I saw it how great it was, I dunno if I was expecting Tennanbaums II but either way this upon second viewing is a fucking brilliant, BRILLIANT movie. Just like at the end of Tennanbaums the Jaguar Shark scene just makes me totally and completely break down. Between this and Tennanbaums (which I consider a Top Five of this decade) Anderson is the Director of The Moment.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2007 For me a big part of the ending was Sigur Ros. Now, I fell asleep many times during this movie, I was tired and watching it on DVD, but when I woke up for the end, I think being half asleep made it better... Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2007 I thought this would be a parody thread of people talking about movies that had been out for a while.
dubq 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2007 I love this movie and I'm really psyched for Wes Anderson's newest flick The Darjeeling Limited.
