The Clinton Library

Recommended Posts

I agree with both sides having expressed the need for unity. Hopefully, extremists on both sides (I think liberal extremists are far worse on this) will do their best to help make this happen.

Which side is Liberals again?

My mind is blanking today

Hehe, good question.

He said conservatism at its best draws a line that should never be crossed and progressivism at its best breaks barriers down that have to be broken for us to move forward. He said we need red America to draw the line and blue America to push us forward, and we can't do it without either side.

He said more about Bush too. He said he first saw him speak in Iowa and called a friend immediately and said "He could beat us" and called him a fantastic politican.

This is why, outside of all of his other nonsense, Bill is a brilliant politician - he's smart enough to realize that the current president is popular with a considerable portion of the electorate and that it pays more in the end to treat him with respect rather than complete and utter disdain.

It's a lesson that the mainstream Democrat party hasn't gotten yet, and likely NEVER will.

This Bill Clinton face turn really came out of left field. Really sort of makes him a tragic figure when you realize the rest of the Democratic Party is going to tell him to bugger off with his "let's work together" while the party chooses to just be petty and divisive.

BTW, George HW Bush should go into stand-up. He's the funniest ex-President we've ever had, I think.

Not many people really have discussed his Presidency in these parts, good or bad. I tend to think he was perhaps the most *qualified* President we've ever had, considering that he did just about everything before becoming Commander In Chief.

Yeah, I think that's interesting. One would think that Goerge Herbert Walker Armoire Vestibule Bush would have been more effective and would have left more of a legacy than his underachieving offspring.

However, it certainly seems that Dubyah will leave much more of an imprint on history and have a much more substantial legacy.

And his facial expressions are much more humorous, as well.

It's also worth noting that the library is 100% solar powered and is costing the city NO money. I know this isn't as big of a deal to those who aren't from here, but it's huge for us.

Funny you should mention this because I find it highly Ironic at how many things owned by the city, state, and federal government are solar powered, which translates to LOW or NO Cost in energy bills...which is a GREAT thing btw, but when it comes to the PRIVATE sector, politicians constantly claim "oh well we dunno enough about that technology to impliment it yet"

"Damn it feels good to be a gangsta"

Asshole. I was thinking the same thing.

OK, here's my contribution -- I always knew Clinton liked being around Bush (not to mention a pussy...)

Heck, Clinton won't even admit he LIED about not having sex with Monica.

You make it sound crazy or eventful, but that's probably the least important thing I could care about in that scandal. I don't give a shit if he's lying about his sex life when you don't have a jury before him. Gadzooks, he's hardly the first.

The events seemed rather boring and predictable, except for the Bush family, whose opinions I don't care about. It's pretty obvious to them that Clinton was an accident that shouldn't have happened, and that we ought to be just coming off eight years of Jeb and maybe have elected Dubya for the first time the other week.

Well, at least we DID just elect Dubya for the first time last week. ;)

Reminds me of the scene from "Resevoir Dogs" of the guys walking in slow motion (especially W on the left).

Oh great, now I have an image of George Bush Jr dancing around with a knife to "Stuck in the middle"

That's a mean thing to say about a nice guy like George HW Bush.

I gotta hand it to him, Dubyah does look particularly badass there. Carter looks short and elfin.

It almost looks like Clinton's holding his hand so he doesn't run away...

Well, if you want to nitpick on the scope of things, a section about Watergate should be huge, while a sex scandal really is just a footnote in history.  I see no problem with that.

Except that Clinton's scandal involved perjury, conspiracy to obstruct justice --- not to mention stealing FBI files, etc.

As usual, Clinton is unable to admit his faults.

-=Mike

Keeping in mind that Bush and Reagan weren't exactly fessing up to any of their mistakes, lies etc. Perhaps it just comes with the office.

Actually, Reagan's library has a lengthy exhibit on Iran/Contra.

I want to know why they would care if it was in their library? It's part of their history and it's not like it will be forgotten. If anything they should just lie it all on the table.

I didn't agree with the over the top way Monica situation was handled, but it is part of his history and should be a major factor in his library.

There may be more than you think. As I said before, I'll take pictures and post them so you can decide for yourselves. The library will be open to the public (without vouchers) next weekend.
