Old Fox shows

Recommended Posts

I remember when Fox was a brand new station and they had the simpsons and In Living Color. However, another of my favorite shows was about a teenager whose father was supposedly a spy even though he posed a postman. The kid got involved in the spy business. I vaguely remember "Pumpkin Queen," but not sure if that was from this show or another one. Anyone remember this or other shows from Fox when they were a fledgling network?

IIRC, Simpsons, In Living Color, Married with Children and 21 Jumpstreet were all on Fox. What are some others?

I think the show was called "Brothers" It was about brothers and one of them was gay, maybe 2 of them? They always hung out at this bar. That was on very early in the history of Fox. When I was kid I was pretty shocked to see the actor who played the gay brother without his "gay" voice in real life interviews. Can someone fill in the details?

anyone recall the show with the brotha and his two sons and he was married to a white woman, whom I believe had a daughter? it was a sitcom...about two seasons in the actor that played the father died and was replaced by another actor for the next couple seasons...I'm quite sure it was on Fox...

I think I have an idea of what you're talking about, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it.

I do, however, remember Martin and Living Single.

Did they have a white racist grandma?

There was also Comic Strip Live -- it made some Sunday Night prime time specials.

And that 21 Jump Street Spinoff ... and that Married with Children sorta-spinoff with LeBlanc ... and that George Carlin show where he was a cabbie or something.

That's all I got for now...

I dunno if this was on Fox or not, but what was that one show with Jerry O' Connel, where he could fly but he had to use aerosel cans or something to fly. I am thinking it is "My Secret Identity" but I am not quite sure.

"My Secret Identity" is right, but it was syndicated.

I've got two more: Alien Nation and It's Garry Shandling's Show.

True Colors

I don't remember who the first dad was, but the second dad was Cleavon "BLACK SHERIFF~!" Little, who died not long after the show went off the air, and the white grandma was the Bounty woman... who also died not long after the show went off the air

As for the original post, Simpsons and In Living Color were not first-run shows on Fox... the first-run shows from '87 that most people would remember are MWC, 21JS and Tracey Ullman

It's Garry Shandling's Show.

I dunno if that was a Fox show, but it ruled for the theme song alone

"This is the theme to Garry's show..."

I believe Fox aired it, but the original episodes aired on...Showtime? Fox just cleaned up any foul language/etc. before airing it on their netwrok.

Don't forget about 1992's Woops!

The world is destroyed when kids accidently set off a nuclear missile causing the Russians to counterattack. Only six people are left in the US; Mark, the narrator, an ex-school teacher; Alice, a feminist; Curtis, a yuppie stock broker; Jack, a homeless person; Frederick, a black pathologist; and Suzzane, a sexy dummy.

Lasted 3 months.

I watched the pilot to that. At the end they fought a giant spider that was so horribly designed... I never watched another episode.

The theme song ruled.

"This is the theme to Gary's show.....the theme to Gary's show.....Gary called me up and asked if I would write his theme song...."

Sliders originally began on FOX, and was a pretty decent show. Unfortunately, it got cancelled, as is the way of things - Sci-Fi picked it up, but at that point half of the original cast left and the stories just got completely ridiculous.

The Chevy Chase Show. Worst show in a long hall of shame of bad Fox shows. The same week it got dumped Chase showed on Letterman's (then still new) CBS show and bitching about how bad it was and looking like he was going to go back to snorting coke to kill himself.

Greg the Bunny was WB, by the way.

And since we're talking about shows that appeared in time to capitalize on the X-Files craze, I'll mention Millennium.
