Guest The Shadow Behind You

Ring Of Honor returns to the RexPlex in Elizabeth, NJ this Saturday, Dec. 4th, with a supershow so huge that it earned the title "All Star Extravaganza II." The event features three title matches, several more main event quality bouts and the first ever in ring meeting of legendary managers Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and Jim Cornette!!! There will be tickets available at the door the night of the show. For ticket info and directions go to ROHwrestling.com or call 215-781-2500. Belltime is 7:30pm.

The RexPlex is located just off NJ Turnpike Exit 13A. It is next to Ikea, which is visible from the NJ Turnpike. It is an easy drive from all locations and close to New York City. Check RexPlex.com for more info.

The first "All Star Extravaganza" on 11/9/02 is regarded as one of the best ROH shows ever. It was perhaps the most star studded event in ROH history with names like Masato Tanaka, Shinjiro Ohtani, Paul London, Bryan Danielson, AJ Styles, Low Ki, Christopher Daniels, Doug Williams, Samoa Joe, Homicide, Steve Corino, CM Punk, Tommy Dreamer, Donovan Morgan and many more. Now ROH has booked legends and the cream of the crop for "All Star Extravaganza II" this Saturday!!!

ROH Merchandise will have a huge table complete with the latest ROH DVD releases (check ROHwrestling.com Friday for an update) including 9/11/04 "Glory By Honor III" with Mick Foley's ROH debut. Also just released are the "Weekend Of Thunder" shows featuring Jushin "Thunder" Liger on VHS. There will also be several new Straight Shootin' releases including shoot interviews with Tom Prichard, One Man Gang, The Midnight Express (with Jim Cornette bonus) and The Fantastics. The hottest title in the ROH library, Secrets Of The Ring With Jim Cornette, will also be available. For more info check ROHwrestling.com.

It doesn't get any better than this lineup. This is the show that no wrestling fan can afford to miss. Just check out the card:

ROH World Title No Time Limit Match With Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat At Ringside: Samoa Joe defends vs. CM Punk- This will be the third World Title defense by Samoa Joe against CM Punk. The first two matches on 6/12 and 10/16 both finished in epic one hour draws that are each top match of the year contenders. In fact, Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer ranked the 10/16 match a full five stars, the first time that ranking has been given to a match in the United States in seven years. Now Joe and Punk will collide one more time and there will be a definitive winner. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat has stated that this series reminds him of the series he had vs. Ric Flair in 1989 and he will be at ringside to make sure there is a clear winner in this historic final match. Will Samoa Joe's over one and a half year reign as World Champion come to an end?

The Great Managerial Debate: Bobby "The Brian" Heenan vs. Jim Cornette- For the first time anywhere in the world of wrestling the two greatest managers of all time will come face-to-face to determine who is the best ever. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and Jim Cornette will meet in the squared circle and there is no telling what will happen. This is your chance to be there live for this once in a lifetime debate!!! It's Heenan and Cornette on opposing sides for the first time in wrestling history, what more hype do you need?

ROH Pure Title Match: John Walters defends vs. Jimmy Rave of The Embassy with Prince Nana- Walters has been an honorable champion in trying to raise the prestige of the Pure Title, which is contested under unique rules including the three rope break rule. Jimmy Rave has been on a roll since joining The Embassy under the guidance of Prince Nana. The streets of Nana's home country of Ghana, West Africa are ready for a victory celebration if Rave can win what promises to be a hard-fought contest. The Pure Title stands for competition at its purest.

ROH Tag Team Title Match: Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero of The Rottweilers with Julius Smokes defend vs. Nigel McGuinness & Chad Collyer- This one will be tag team wrestling at its best as Reyes & Romero try to continue their domination of the ROH tag team scene. They will be faced with two of the best technical wrestlers going today in McGuinness and Collyer. Romero and Collyer almost stole the show on 7/24 in the opening match, now they will meet again with titles on the line!!!

Grudge Match: "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson vs. Homicide of The Rottweilers with Julius Smokes- This would be a main event on any other card as two of the best going today collide. Many diehard ROH fans call their 4/24 bout a match of the year candidate and an underrated classic. Homicide won the contest after a low blow. Danielson was attacked by Homicide's fellow Rottweilers on the last show. The attack has brought out the angry side of "American Dragon" for the first time. This one is going to be intense!!!

For A Future World Title Shot: Low Ki of The Rottweilers with Julius Smokes vs. Austin Aries of Generation Next- This first time ever match has fans salivating as two of the most explosive athletes going today clash with the rich prize of a future ROH World Title shot on the line. Either of these men could be a future champion, but first they have to win this match to get that opportunity.

Grudge Tag Team Match: Colt Cabana & Jimmy Jacobs vs. Jack Evans & Roderick Strong of Generation Next- The Generation Next faction have been trying to take the top spots by injuring and attacking competitors up and down the ROH roster. Cabana and Jacobs were two of their victims and now they are coming for revenge. Cabana has been out of action in ROH since 8/28 when Generation Next put him down with a shoulder injury and he is coming to New Jersey to even the score!!!

Special Challenge Match: Jay Lethal vs. Ghana, West Africa's Weapon Of MASK Destruction with Prince Nana- Jay Lethal embarrassed The Embassy on 11/6. Lethal lost a match to Jimmy Rave after distraction by Nana. Lethal then shut Nana up by slapping him, Rave and The Outcast Killaz in the face. Now Nana has declared war on Lethal and spent Ghana's military budget on a Weapon Of Mask Destruction. Will this be the end of Lethal?

Tag Team Scramble: Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer vs. Carnage Crew of Loc & Devito vs. Ring Crew Express of Dunn & Marcos vs. Outcast Killaz of Oman Turtuga & Diablo Santiago- The Tag Team Scramble is one of the most exciting matches in wrestling history for its fast-paced, death-defying action. This Scramble features some duos with issues. The Carnage Crew and the team of Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer have been beating each other senseless on recent ROH shows. This bloody feud will continue on Saturday. Dunn & Marcos and the Outcast Killaz have always had a rivalry ever since their days on the ring crew together. Allison Danger, who wants to see the demise of Maff & Whitmer, is sure to have an eye on this one. This is going to be explosive!!!

Bonus Tag Team Attraction: Special K of Izzy, Dixie, Deranged & Angel Dust with Lacey & Becky vs. Graduates From The ROH Wrestling School- Special K have been on the losing end of all their matches since March 13th except for a win by Izzy on 11/6. There have also been troubles within the group. Now they insist they are all on the same page and they will prove this by delivering a sound beating to the students who have just graduated from the ROH wrestling school.

What more could you want from a show? Two legends collide for the first time ever, three title matches including the third Punk vs. Joe World Title match, even more main event type bouts, grudge matches, girls and more!!! There is no telling what can happen this Saturday when an all star collection of talent clashes in the RexPlex.

I wish like hell I could be there.

Either Punk is out of the Joe title chase forever, or Joe is out of the title.

Either would be pretty much ok, since either way, we have an amazing champ and both men have many other fueds they could persue.

But I wish I could BE there!

MATCH #1 - ROH Students over Special K with Davey Andrews pinning Izzy, after Izzy was mistakenly hit by Angel Dust.

Post-match, Special K of Izzy, Deranged, Lacey, etc turned on Dixie, Angel Dust, & Becky

up next, The Weapon of Mask Destruction will be REVEALED!!!

MATCH #2 - Jay Lethal over The Weapon of Mask Destruction

WoMD was a big guy in a red mask...no one could make out who he was, nor was it revealed.

Nana kicked him out of The Embassy, calling him a "piece of sh!t!" Nana then told Lethal that FB 2004 would be Lethal's last match!!

MATCH #3 - The Outcast Killaz over Dunn & Marcos, Carnage Crew, & BJ Whitmer & Dan Maff

Crew and Maff & BJ brawled A LOT during the match and ended up leaving the ringside area. The Embassy and OCK get the win!

MATCH #4 - John Walters retains the Pure Title over Jimmy Rave by countout

Rave was out of rope breaks and Walters held onto a submission move all the way to the floor. Todd Sinclair counted both men to '17' and Walters released the hold to beat the 20 count and win!

Prince Nana and The OCK were NOT at ringside.

MATCH #5 - Austin Aries fought Low Ki to a time limit DRAW

However, GMC came out and said that the match would go 5 MORE MINUTES!!!

Update to follow!!

The stipulation was that 5 more minutes was going to be granted because "the fans and ROH" wanted it!

Low Ki, grabbed the mic, and announced that despite the fact that all those people wanted, HE did not, so he walked out, leaving the match a DRAW.

MATCH #6 - Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero over Chad Collyer & Nigel McGuinness to retain the Tag Titles.

Paraphrased from the ROH Board:

Cornette and Heenan had their debate with Cornette playing the heel. Roderick Strong and Jack Evans came out and attacked Heenan on behalf of Cornette. Cabana and Jacobs made the save. Cornette will now be in Generation Next's corner for the tag tonight and Heenan will be in the corner of Cabana and Jimmy Jacobs.

I think they should have gone around 60 minutes, and teased that if Punk can get Joe to go more than an hour, he's got the title won because that's when Joe is easy pickings, but have Joe fight like crazy to get the win before the 60 minute mark, and then finally get the win just at the 60 minute mark.

I thought they were building to Punk Vs Joe to blow off the Purist Vs Ring of Hardcore angle since Punk is Steamboat's boy.

Nah, Samoa Joe isn't about hardcore either.

Show sounds good, can't wait to hear live reports. I'm sure lots of people will bitch about Joe retaining the title, like they do every time he retains. I really don't expect him to drop the belt until after the 2-year mark, though.

It is getting kind of old seeing Joe retain show, after show, after show. Punk should have beaten him tonight, and the match should have been over 60 minutes, say, 33 minutes over 60!

I still haven't found out how long was the draw? 60 minutes?

And Joe is busy with Corino, Low Ki and Homicide and soon; Austin Aries.

Punk has issues with Shelly and Gen Next for now, so someone else needs a Foley rub...and Gabe in a recent report said they had big plans for Nigel.

Nigel Vs Foley? Lacks Sizzle but works with the storyline

I think Aries vs. Ki was a 20 minute draw.

Great to see Joe retained.

I like that they had him win "early" in, but only after the number one contender's match went over an hour. Established that the guys coming up can go as long as Punk did twice, then established that Joe will choke you out after half an hour.

It didn't. It was a 20 minute draw.

I wonder if Aries/Ki will have a rematch, or will both get a title shot, or what.

I'm guessing Joe vs. Corino on 12/26 for the belt, but who knows.

Live reports seem to say Joe vs. Punk was very good, even if "only" a half hour.

Gotta see the Heenan/Cornette stuff, I'm sure it's gold.

I think Joe vs. Corino is pretty much a lock for 12/26. I guess there is an outside chance he would be involved working alongside Punk against Generation Next, though a match with Joe is obviously more pressing.

I can't wait for the Cornette/Heenan stuff either. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Damn, looking forward to that. Joe and Aries match at the IWA Strong Style show was great, it'll be interesting to see how they go with another 10 minutes or so.

I love how people think Long = Good.

Agreed. I enjoy long matches myself, but you got two 60 minute draws out of their series - I was hoping they'd go for a shorter match, and they did.

And I'm sure that the match was good, regardless. Quibbling that it was 30 minutes less than one hoped it would be is rather pointless.

I was thinking the same thing. I know I tend to get pissed off if I invest an hour in a match only to get a non-finish.

One way two hour longs then a thirty minute match means that Joe/Punk were learning from each others moveset. Tells a good logical story.

On the other hand, you should end a feud on a long match not a short one. First/second match should have went thirty minutes, this last one should have went more than thirty minutes. I still would have kept it below 55 mark or so.

Not at all. It was better this way. Most reports say that Punk/JOE III was the most intense match in years and I don't doubt that at all.

It sound weird for a Series that went 120 minutes to conclude at 31 minutes but it was done right. The problem apprently was that not at all people in Elizabeth last night had even seen Joe/Punk II and weren't aware of how it played into last night's match. I seriously can't wait til I get my hands on the last two parts of the series and watch them back to back.

Well, I agree and I'm glad they didn't go for another very long match. I think the issue was more that the build made people think they'd go over 60, rather than people thinking the match was bad because it went less than the 60 though.

The build was that the issue hadn't be settled in 60 minutes, so they gave it no time limit...which you could be forgiven for thinking meant they were planning, say, a 90 minute plus match. It's not quite that people hoped it'd be long...more 'expected'. Or predicted.
