Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2004 My picks U2 "How to Dimantle an Atomic Bomb" I didn't like "All that You Can Leave Behind", and I was hoping for a better album. Didn't get it, unfortunately. Eminem, "Encore" Heard this in a friends car. I normally don't like him, but this stufdf is damn near unbareable. When he does a dis at Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, you officially know that Mr. Mathers is out of ideas. U.N.K.L.E. "Never Never Land" I loved the album "Psyence Fiction". How can an album with Josh Homme, Brian Eno, Robert del Naja of Massive Attack, and Ian Brown be so disappointing? Eagles of Death Metal "Peace Love Death Metal" Speaking of Josh Home...Man, and I had high hopes for this one. Oh, and Yes, I knew it wasn't death metal. Skinny Puppy "The Greater Right o the Wrong" You know, I'm a huge Skinny Puppy fan, but damnit, this album really let me down.

Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 The New Danger How so? It wasn't bad, but in keeping with the first post, I was hoping for more. It's Mos' own fault, pretty much, for setting the bar so high. When you've got Black Star and Black On Both Sides under your belt, not to mention letting a fair amount of time pass between albums, of course expectations are going to be astronomical. And, on paper, New Danger looks like it should meet and exceed said expectations. In actuality, it came off rambling and disjointed, without ever really drawing together the elements of a great album, which were present. In light of this, it was also overlong. jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 Velvet Revolver-Contraband. I'm not a big fan of Weiland's vocals, but I can tolerate them usually. They sounded pretty terrible on several of the songs on this album. I figured even if Weiland had a subpar performance on here the music could make up for it. I was wrong there. The song writing was mediocre at the best parts of the album and pretty awful at time. Even Slash's solos were disappointing.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 The Magnetic Fields' I. A few good songs aside, Merritt totally went into adult alternative land on this one. Considering how much I love just about everything else that band has done, it was a big disappointment. The New Danger is up there, yeah. Also, I'd say I was let down by N.E.R.D.'s Fly or Die—their In Search of... was my favorite album of 2002—but Pharell's increasing self-importance since the release of that album kinda took away the surprise of the new one sucking. Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 Yea, Incandenza has a good point about "Fly or Die" I remember hearing the first single from the album, and liking it, until Pharell started singing. It's not that he has a bad voice, but the lyrics were definately...lacking. Or, in other words, sucked ass.
cbacon 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 The new Tea Party was sub-par.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 Pharell has a passable voice as long as he keeps within his (limited) range, but that's the biggest problem with Fly or Die (along with the songs just not being that good). Dude can't hit a fucking high note, yet his screeching falsetto is all over the record.
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 The Roots- The Tipping Point: Now don't get me wrong, I still like the album, but after the trifecta of Hip-Hop awesomeness that was illadelph halflife, Things Fall Apart and Phrenology, the album was a letdown. It's kind of in the same category as The New Danger. Their past three studio albums have been so good that anything that didn't top them would be seen as a disappointment. Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted December 7, 2004 Pharrell stretched himself too far with all of his cameos, the album was just retread of past work. But I never liked NERD, so what can i say?
