Will there be another GTA?

Recommended Posts

Seeing Andrew eschew Rush because of their "geekiness" makes me chuckle quite loudly

Oh come on--"Subdivisions" anyone?

You were probably the disenchanted nerd in that video

Didn't know that song even had one, music geek.

He gets pushed around by some bullies at school, wanders around the streets of Toronto and winds up playing (rather badly) Tempest at the arcades...

That's you allright

I still can't believe Mr. I Practically Run the VG Folder would get on anyone for being geeky though

I saw rumors awhile ago that said GTA IV (Rockstar doesnt consider VC and SA sequels, their spin offs more or less) was gonna be a direct sequel to GTA III.

Which would make sense after VC and SA. They could tie everything together.

How about a late 60's edition where your a simple american, killing hippies and people against the government.

KKK would like that.

Just so you know, simple folk like me add a {'} when using that form of {your}.

And oddly enough my idea of the next GTA would take place back in the 1800s. You'd be a slave and go around burning farms and doing it with them white girls.

Of course, it would have to be called "Grand Theft Horse and Buggy" or something...

my 75 cents:

if it was done on next gen tech:

the next gta should be done in the post 9/11 setting, with all current music out, and all current issues should be mocked: election, sport's scandels, serial murders, etc. if they got some really good writes to pen a decent script, it can be good. i liked SA's storyline better than VC. a plot in current settings can be interesting and thought provoking.

there's no where else to go but to mock and offend everyone. i never thought south park would last this long and they're still on the same formula. rockstar needs to up the anty and push it as far as it can go.

new features i'd like to see as well: CREATE A PLAYER/CRIMINAL//HERO, buying gas, getting groceries, going to the bathroom, taking care of your hygene, paying bills, finding a job, talking on the phone, making real friends and getting girls phone numbers, better clothes, drinking at bars alone, more acessible stores at the mall, etc. they gave SA a little bit of The Sims treatment. Why not work more on the individual aspect of the game. The rest of the gameplay is great already, just improve on making your guy more life like.

the thing is, you DO all that on the Sims...that takes too much away from teh gameplay if you have to worry about ALL of that...I'm fine with create a player, but I don't want to control every aspect of his life save breathing...tap O repeatdly to make your character breathe...

I personally think GTA's gameplay lacks severely. There doesn't feel like there's any consequences to your actions other than just random police cars flying in your direction looking to get you. I wish they could make GTA a bit more like Fable in that aspect, especially in the combat system.

If I wanted to play the Sims, I would play the Sims. Plus, filling gas etc seems pretty needless. Does it really add anything to gameplay if you have to go fillerup every few hours? Besides, if a car just got near empty you can just steal another one.

I would buy a game with all five cities graphically updated and an early-21st century setting. They would probably rather do a new game in the vibe of the 60s or 70s, though, and I would play that too.

Either that, or GTA: Family Outing, where you take the station wagon on a tour of Pennsylvania Amish Country, stopping at gas stations to get directions because your wife won't stop nagging you. Add a minigame where you can see how many times you can answer the kids asking "Are we there yet?" before you turn around and go home, and you've got a keeper.

There have been consequences other than that for me. In GTA III I remember pissing off the Jap Mafia to the point where they followed me around town trying to kill me. In Vice City when I go into Little Haiti about 10 Hatians start running after me with their "Relax" shirts on shooting Uzis. Even in Little Cuba when they're fighting the Cubans in randomly generated moments they'll stop going after the Cubans and chase me.

Maybe its because I keep running over like 5-7 of them at a time when I take a trip to my cab company to collect the daily funds.

That's kinda my point. It's just pointless mayhem. I don't know, the GTA games are fun to play every once in a while, but the missions are boring and it gets real old after a while.

I still can't believe Mr. I Practically Run the VG Folder would get on anyone for being geeky though

Why should you, since I mock braindead Square fanboys and Xenophiles? How about Final Fantasy Tactics Advance? There's a point I get to quite easily where I feel "it's just a game, for Christ sake." RPGs bore me now, MMORPGs hold no interest whatsover for me, and I have only a handful of video game soundtracks (most of them were free). I'm more for quick action and real gameplay out of my games--I don't want to sit and watch movies for half of my damn gameplay time, and I usually skip them when they appear.

Plus my geekery doesn't extend to comic books, Japanese wrestling, or any of that other stuff. Games and b-movies are pretty much my niches.

Rush's shameless "pity the nerds" pean doesn't appeal to me whatsover, plus it sounds like shit too. If you identify with it, I'd stand in line to give you a swirly.

Do you hold Rush near and dear to your heart, Slayer, or were you just shoveling more shitloads of flamebaiting like you in every folder?

Your braindead insults sound one "your momma" joke away from a Jr. High kid, which would be excusable if you apparently weren't enough of a geezer to remember Rush music videos.

Back on topic, Rockstar has announced that "The Introduction" will be a bonus included when you buy the double-disc San Andreas soundtrack--it will be a DVD movie prequel to SA, basically, but not an actual game.

I don't think they'll make a game sequel to SA, though. Yet, they're tight-lipped about anything concrete at this point.

That's kinda my point. It's just pointless mayhem. I don't know, the GTA games are fun to play every once in a while, but the missions are boring and it gets real old after a while.

Ditto--fun, but it seems like the series has yet to evolve in the manner that I'd like.

I was thinking about a 50s one too. set it in a stereoptypical 50s sitcom town (like in pleasentville) that secretly has gansgsters and criminals of course. you could have a cool soundtracks of golden oldies and junk. it would be fun to run around gta rampage style in an innocent time. or one set in the present time would be fine.

then again I havent even finished playing san andreas yet (im still in san fierro and I have had the game since the day it come out for crying out loud-man i need to catch up on my playing) hell i still havent even got 100 percent on gta 3 or vice

Regarding GTA sequels:

There is the online GTA game that keeps getting tossed around as well as the possibility of Rock Star Games doing a UK-themed GTA game (which makes sense even though they did this already as a PS1 expansion pack).

That being said New York City, the UK, Tokyo, Russia, and Washington DC are the most obvious locals for future GTA games....

I like the Hawaii idea, but as a sequel to Vice City. Make it a Magnum P.I. theme.

Blah blah blah

You say I suck at insults and then churn out that clunker? You are so almost Kamui

I'd like to see you try and give me a swirly. Really I would.

I'd like to see a GTA game where you play a revolutionary in some European capital in the present day, and you have to gain the support of the people by showing the ineptitude of the State by eluding the police and military and fleecing government programs to amass funds for the revolution while getting crime lords, corrupt government officials, and ordinary citizens to join the cause. You could still have mindless mayhem since you'll resort to anything to undermine authority and even coordinate joint activities with other bands of rebels. Put it in present-day Moscow or something.

That's not a bad idea actually. It could also take place in Ireland and the music stations could be full of U2 from the Joshua Tree album.

I want to see GTA: Detroit. It would be the most realistic game to date with all the random murders and criminal rampages going on in that place right now. A European setting does sound pretty awesome right now, in all honesty

I like the Hawaii idea. You could run around all day wearing Hawaiin shirts, eating pineapples, and hula dancing.

Or, how about a GTA set in some snowy town. They could have a ski resort with a ski/snowboarding mini game. That could be in the Canada game you guys brought up. I want to see some damn snow.

GTA:Baghdad?
