Someone explain the NO DQ...

I know WWE is wishy-washy when it comes to what exactly calls for a DQ, but Flair basically holding down the ref, wrestling him down, tying him up in the ropes...and the ref just figures, "oh I will wrestle my way away, and then continue to call the match" WTF.....it is shit like this that leaves the crowd dead silent and booing not at the heel, but the shit booking of the match at the conclusion of main events.

I guess their logic would be that Flair never touched either competitor. When it comes to touching the ref (but not doing any major harm to him), it's pretty much a case-by-case thing. It all depends what the bookers want.

 

I do agree that it was a stupid ending, but there was no way anyone thought Shelton would go over with the given stipulations.

Not to mention Hebner basically fucking up the timing with the sleeperhold and having to rush the 2nd and 3rd arm rasings in order to make it in time. Nick Patrick 2004~!

It's always been one of those unwritten rules that the person interfering has to come in contact with the wrestlers in the match or attack the ref to draw a DQ.

I'd say it falls under the same precedent as Eugene spending over a minute outside the ring and not being counted out... "just because".

It's referee's discretion, that's the best explanation I can come up with. Hebner is usually one of the more leniant refs when it comes to DQ's.....

 

I was more pissed at the lack of a count when Eugene made his little tour around ringside. He was out there for AT LEAST 15-20 seconds, the ref NEVER made a count, but then began to count when both Edge and Eugene were on the outside

One referee disqualified Kane for simply shoving him... Flair was on the verge of anal raping Hebner and still didn't get HHH disqualified, or even get himself sent from the ring area.

For the past 600 matches, whenever someone is in danger of pinning HHH, an Evolution member runs in.

 

Last night was match 601, and what happened? Flair ran in! Well bugger me! Never saw that coming!

All the points brought up here are valid in looking at WWE's lack of quality control. Not counting out Eugene "just because" and not DQ'ing Flair are just one of many things that show that quality control and minute details are overlooked when creative is booking this show. It also hurts the product. If we are not supposed to care about basic stips like counting someone out or DQ's when no mention of no-DQ was made, then why should the fans care about anything being presented on TV? Answer: they don't, which is why ratings and buyrates are in the toilet right now.

Considering the large part referees play in wrestling matches, and that Earl Hebner only screws up occasionally, I think he's better than what you give him credit for.

Well, from a logical standpoint, wouldn't they want the weaker man to be in the chamber match? I mean, if Shelton was better than HHH and could beat HHH, then why would they want Shelton in the match instead of HHH? Especially since they will be isolated in the Chamber with no Flair runins possible,

A better ending would have been after Shelton hit his finisher, Batista came in and dropped an elbow or something on HHH. Causing Shelton to be DQ's and furthering the possible tension between HHH & Batista.

Nah... that wouldn't make much sense right now. Batista attacking Hunter for no reason would be a silly idea, and right now Batista is just getting more over with the crowd with the slow burn.

 

If they did make contact, make it like Hunter is holding "Wrestler A" in place for a chair shot, but Batista misses and clocks Hunter to "get even" for the previous incident.

 

It shouldn't be an intentional attack.

Eh... it just seems so predictable. To me at least, it's obviously an intentional "get back" for Batista while he pretends it isn't to keep HHH "happy", which he hasn't been doing for a while.

Then you can have Vince or Bisch make a ruling next week saying that it won't be tolerated having deliberate DQs, so they can justify why Batista doesn't just do that every week. Plus it'll be conveniently forgotten by the time some pussy-champion gets deliberately DQed to retain.

It shouldnt be up to the refs discretion. You do anything you shouldnt do and your DQed. Your out of the ring for 10 mins and your counted-out. This should always be the case, unless it is WELL WRITTEN IN THE MATCH AND BOOKED PROPERLY. Not every other blooming match.
