MikeJordan23 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Meh. Why would Orlando want a broken down Christie? BTW...who is kicking Wally Sczerb in your picture? Bruce Bowen The Magic have made some strange moves, but I never liked Mobley (I mean he's explosive but...) so meh. I guess it gives them a sense of defense and an outside threat? Christie's still all right.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Bradley was, of course, the key to the trade... ...what? He's not there, the salaries don't even out. Totally key...

Big Ol' Smitty 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 my cousin's former High School boyfriend(Michael Bradley) is getting shipped all over the NBA. Stupid move by the Magic. He was pretty awesome at Kentucky when he was here. I think he was leading the nation in FG%. Did he transfer because of playing time or what?
Guest ShamRock Report post Posted January 11, 2005 The Kings are officially the most stupid team in the league. They already have offensive threats in Bibby, Peja, and C-Webb. Mobley is good, but they don't need him. Christie was one of the few on the team that actually played some defense. Dumbass Maloof Bros.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Who puts themselves over more, Mark Cuban or the Maloofs?
starvenger 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Probably the Maloofs, but per person, it's Cuban.

He was pretty awesome at Kentucky when he was here. I think he was leading the nation in FG%. Did he transfer because of playing time or what? I have no clue. I could probably find out easily though. All I know is he went to Doherty High School here in Worcester and killed on the boards and low post scoring...which shows how much basketball players from Worcester suck. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Probably the Maloofs, but per person, it's Cuban. They need to have a battle: Shameless Self-Promoting Jew Vs. Shameless Self-Promoting Arabs. Hey, they'd go for it if there was an audience.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 The Kings "shut down defender" couldn't defend, he couldn't shoot....I say get rid of him. I refuse to believe this is the best they could have gotten though. And Orlando....not a good move there. NOT a good move.

Hey, they'd go for it if there was an audience. And if they thought there was an audience and it turned out that there wasn't, you can be sure that fellow shameless self-promoter Donald Trump would be there to rub it in... cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Doug Christie is someone my brother just loves to make fun of. Whenever the Kings are on he's always rambling about Christie "costing the Kings the game by doing something stupid." Of course when he was saying all this Christie got himself tossed against the Heat and the Heat rallied to win the game afterwards. Heh.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Once I saw Kevin Martin making highlights with his behind the back/between the legs passing, I knew Dougs days were numbered. There is only enough room for one funny look lightskinned guy with crazy passes on the Kings. And they went with the young one.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 The Kings "shut down defender" couldn't defend, he couldn't shoot.... Agree. His one on one defense has dropped a notch, still a good team defender though, and his outside shooting, one of his strong suits in the past, is virtually non-existant now. His 3 pt. makes/attempts and percentage have dropped steadily over the last two years. In 996 minutes this year he's 10-39 from downtown. Ray Allen hits 10 3's in 1/15th of that time. His biggest value to the Kings now was as a passer, but with the Maloofs set on breaking up the band there's no premium on his proven chemistry. Plus the guy turns 35 this year. I refuse to believe this is the best they could have gotten though. I don't see how they possibly could have done any better. Mobley is as good as role players get, 5 years younger than Christie, and better at Doug's supposed strengths (defense and shooting). Mobley is a great pressure defender and a thief who's averaged at least 2.5 steals a game over his entire career, plus he nails shots from all over the court. .464% from 3 so far this year, 58-125, and that's with almost 300 less minutes than Christie. The only question in my mind is how Mobley meshes with the Sacto motion offense, but he'll probably be a good fit. This trade is fucking thievery by the Kings. Mr. S£im Citrus 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 So I guess this means Peja is staying put. I actually wouldn't be surprised if this were the catalyst to Stojakovic leaving; the two guys who set Pedja up to score more than anyone else on the team were Divac and Christie. As far as how he fits into the Kings' motion offense, I'm worried that he won't fit at all. Mobley's a black hole; the ball goes into his hands, but it doesn't come out. He's not likely to move the ball around, and I wouldn't be surprised if Pedja's scoring average drops 6-8 ppg...
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Mobley can pass, the question is whether he will or not. I think with Peja, Bibby, Webber and Miller, Mobley is basically the 4th or 5th option, a spot shooter and slasher, and he's walking into an entirely new offense, a situation that the other guys he's playing with are already comfortable with, he pretty much has to subjugate his game, doesn't he?
Mr. S£im Citrus 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Mobley pretty much only passed to Francis; he's never shown any proclivity to create for others.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Francis sounds real pissed about the trade, basically telling the Magic that Mobley is his best friend and if they want to treat him without concern for that that he's going to play the game like it's a business. Obviously speaking out of anger, but comments like that are never a good sign and Francis could be souring on Orlando already. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1964511 And I happen to agree with him, and this is just another reason why it was a bad trade, you never want to piss off your superstar. sfaJack 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Steve Francis needs to grow the hell up and get over it. This is the same guy who skipped a team flight to Phoenix last year (without telling his coach) because he wanted to go the Super Bowl, so if he's going to pout and stew over this for the rest of the season, fuck him. What has he ever done to earn the right to bitch about stuff like this anyway? The Rockets weren't exactly a contender with him, and the Magic don't appear to be infinitely better because of him. I know he and Cuttino are boys and all, but shut up.

The Rockets weren't exactly a contender with him, and the Magic don't appear to be infinitely better because of him. I know he and Cuttino are boys and all, but shut up. Well, as you may know, if you let a kid have his way once, he'll always keep pushing to get his way all the time. In little Stevie's case, this started when he was drafted, when Vancouver drafted him and he whined "I don't wanna go" and had a temper tantrum. Vancouver traded, and he's been trying to get his way ever since.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2005 After watching PTI today, I understand why so many people hate Michael Wilbon. I don't agree with the racist thing, especially since there are some here who defended DA RUSH~! but I do feel he is a biased moron, who, if he were a poster, would be exposed for it. But since he's confrontational about it he doesn't get called for it. He defended Francis for saying something along the lines of "I have no reason to get up anymore". I didn't know the love of his life was gone.
The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2005 I think Wilbon's position on the trade was that it's such an unbelievably dumb move for the Magic that almost any criticism of it - even Francis' infantile whining - is defensible by default.
