res37618 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 I found this excerpt in a wrestling column that our local newspaper runs in print and on the internet. I have no clue as to whether it's true, but it'll be kinda cool if it is: "In the big book for upcoming video/DVD releases from Trans World Entertainment, which is the parent corporation for video and music retailers such as FYE and Coconuts Music & Movies, there is another Hulk Hogan DVD set in the works. The set is titled “HULKAMANIA” and it’s a six-disc set that will cost $44.95 and be released this spring. The Wrestling Observer reports that the six-disc DVD set could be re-releases of the Coliseum Video Hulkamania tapes released during the 1980's and 1990s." Again, take this for what it's worth. Hopefully it's true, even though it's Hogan, I'm always up for some good nostalgia. Any thoughts, or has anyone heard anything about this?

res37618 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 "Making his way to the ring, from Venice Beach, California weighing in at three hundred two pounds *silence* Hogan!" Ooooh, I'd forgotten about that . . . . I wonder how they'll get around that? If they blank-out every instance of an announcer saying "Hulk", it'll sound like something similar to crap. Maybe they'll work out some sort of one-time royalty or something of the sort in order to release the set. Or, the other possibility is that this is as bogus as a backalley horseracing bet. I'd love to see another Hogan set, but it could just be a cruel joke Or would RELEASING the set be a cruel joke? Discuss
Guest Loss Report post Posted January 11, 2005 It would be great if they showed a split second of him saying "Hollywood" every time the word "Hulk" was said.
res37618 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2005 It would be great if they showed a split second of him saying "Hollywood" every time the word "Hulk" was said. Yeah, it could be like watching an edited movie on network TV, where all of the foul language is replaced with the same actor (or a similar voice) saying "crap" instead of "shit" or something like that. That would be too much fun to watch. Methinks I'd waste an entire weekend counting "Hollywood" voiceovers on a six-disc set. Or not.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Too bad 3 of the Coliseum Videos (IV, V, VI) sucked and the other 3 (I-III) I already have. Plus the fact that any mention of "Hulk" "Hulkster" or "Hulkamania" will not be allowed due to the agreement with Marvel expiring last summer. Maybe a best of Hollywood Hogan DVD from WCW would sell? Basically an nWo DVD, except not really.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted January 11, 2005 Why didn't Vince just make a new deal with Marvel? That's pretty valuable part of his companies history.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted January 11, 2005 I think Vince already has worked a new deal with them. I believe that if he came back now, they would have to pay to call him "Hulk". But since they owned it then, I believe they would be able to call him "Hulk" in the old footage, considering that they had a deal worked out when it was originally used. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 11, 2005 They edited out the word Hulk during a match shown on Byte This I heard (Hogan/T v. Piper/Orndorff from WM 1), so I guess it doesn't matter when the name was licensed for use, it doesn't count anymore. See also: WWF. Any mention of WWF from older matches on recent DVD's have been edited out.

IV & V are pretty bad, but there's at least one or two decent Savage matches on there. -Paul Jacobi-

Mole 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2005 Ohh, so that is why WWE.com's title history page says "Hollywood" Hogan. And I won't be getting this DVD at all.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2005 I'd be down. The first three releases are excellent by Hogan standards and include some fun stuff from WWF TV in the '80s that wasn't within the squared circle (i.e. Alfred Hayes getting sick from the Hogan health shake on TNT). The last three are pretty lackluster, although there's some good stuff here and there sprinkled in, like a SNME match against Bad News Brown, a lumberjack match against Ted Dibiase and a match from one of the Japan tours against Stan Hansen. MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2005 Totally agree w/ Bruiser. In a nutshell, if you enjoyed the extras on the Hulk Still Rules dvd set, you'll love the 6-Disc set. If you hated them . . .
Downhome 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2005 I might as well post all of this right here: In the big book for upcoming video/DVD releases from Trans World Entertainment, which is the parent corporation for video and music retailers such as FYE and Coconuts Music & Movies, there is another Hulk Hogan DVD set in the works. It's titled HULKAMANIA and it's a 6-Disc Set that will cost $44.95 and be released this spring. This DVD set is more than likely going to be a re-release of the six Hulkamania Coliseum Home Videos that were released in the '80s and 90s. It should be interesting to see if any editing will occur what with the many "WWF" references and "Hulk Hogan" references that are bound to occur in those old videos. Due to the Marvel lawsuit, Hulk Hogan has been been referred to as "Hollywood Hogan" when his name is mentioned on either television or in print. Perhaps it has been resolved and Hogan can be known as Hulk Hogan in WWE again. We shall see. If this 6-disk DVD set are indeed re-releases of the Coliseum Video Hulkamania tapes, than these are the matches and segments you can expect to see. I'll need to see the Box first though. I wonder if it'll be a Six single discs Box set or one of those nifty packages where they go in one whole box. I'm pretty sure it's the former. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 12, 2005 Just for the record, I probably will buy this since it's pretty cheap for 6 DVD's, but non-Hogan fans will probably not enjoy them. Some Guy: I'm not sure, but I'm guessing those Savage/Dibiase matches are clipped. It makes sense though, since the whole tape is about the Hogan/Andre feud from WM III until the title controversy from the Dibiase/Andre/Hogan scenario. The WWE set for Flair came out months before the Hogan problems with Marvel. I didn't noticed the "WWF" comment though. I noticed on the Undertaker: He Buries Them Alive, however, several "WWF" comments are cut out quite obviously.
