C Dubya 04 Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/10622018.htm This ought to be awful.
Precious Roy Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Hahahahaha, they named it "Quite Frankly"!
therealworldschampion Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Oh this will give Eskin something to bitch about on WIP today.
Slayer Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 TRULY, THIS IS A GREAT DAY IN SPORTS MEDIA HISTORY
starvenger Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 The only time I've been able to tolerate this guy was during Dream Job, since he didn't shout all the time. And any hope I had that this show would die a quick death ended when I saw that it would be on ESPN2, which continues to give us Cold Pizza (fortunately, Thea Andrews is hot).
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 What is ESPN's obsession with this guy. It's like a big joke that none of us are in on.
C Dubya 04 Posted January 12, 2005 Author Report Posted January 12, 2005 On the Sports Reporters this weekend, he went on and on about how Herm Edwards was smart to let the kicker try on 3rd down so that if he missed he'd get another chance. Um problem is that the kicker wouldn't. Easy rule that the dumbass should know.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 My favorite was his Laker love and how they were still going to win the NBA Finals I think even when it was 3-1. I think he was also the main guy making excuses left and right for the Lakers all the way through.
The Czech Republic Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I hope his first guest is Slava Medvedenko. Screamin' A will spend the whole segment just saying the guy's name over and over.

Um problem is that the kicker wouldn't. Easy rule that the dumbass should know. Actually it's something that's routinely said by football announcers. The difference being that they explain it correctly - if there's a botched snap or a fumble prior to the kick, the offensive team retains since there was technically no field goal attempted and missed.

The difference being that they explain it correctly - if there's a botched snap or a fumble prior to the kick, the offensive team retains since there was technically no field goal attempted and missed. Actually, even if a field goal is blocked you might get another chance. As long as the ball does not cross the line of scrimmage, if you recover the blocked kick then you get another shot at it. It's really a rule the NFL needs to fix. I've always felt when the FG comes on, any unused downs should be forfeited. As for the Screamin A show...well, less of a reason to watch ESPN2. I'd watch Cold Pizza for Woody if that jerk Bayless wasn't sitting right next to him. God that guy gets on my nerves more than Smith. Imagine a show with Dan Lebatard, Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smith. It would be like opening the gates of hell.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Hoping someone would have the sense to blow whatever building the three of them happened to be in whenever that show was being taped.
starvenger Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Imagine a show with Dan Lebatard, Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smith. It would be like opening the gates of hell. Didn't they do that on PTI already? I actually remember missing Kornholio and Wilbon...

Guest Smues Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Screamin' A. Smith gets his own show? What, Rome is Burning wasn't bad enough to hold sole ownership of "worst thing on TV" so they give Smith his own show now to fill that void? God help me if I ever accidently stumble upon this. It's bad enough I, MAXXX is seemingly on Fox Sports every single time I flip by.
Guest Smues Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 And of course 5 seconds after I read that I go into the ESPN sucks thread and discover Rome is Burning is going daily. ESPN hates me.
the max Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I like Dan Lebatard, but only on the radio. He does a weekly call in on my local ESPN radio affiliate (he's their big star guest), and he can actually be kind of funny sometimes. I won't be watching this show though.
Guest Vitamin X Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 "Stephen A. Smith is the perfect candidate to fill that role," Tobias said. "It's a program with a daily dose of sports news, opinions, issues and headlines, much like the Bill O'Reilly show." That is definitely not a good sign.
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 How about everyone on Smith's show (including him) uses a megaphone when they talk?

It's bad enough I, MAXXX is seemingly on Fox Sports every single time I flip by. Jim Rome's show going daily 4:30 to 5:00 is worse though. I would rather listen to someone scream for 1/2 hour than listen to someone who.................................................takes dramatic pauses of silence. I only listen to his show for like 15 minutes on the way to work. It will be great doing E-Mails.. Your show rules! Signed The Will
Guest Smues Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Your kidding me it's 4:30-5 EST? Fuck now I can't just turn it to ESPN and wait for ATH.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Wrong thread for this kind of discussion And why isn't the show called "Screamin' Smith" or something like that? That would actually be kinda clever...
Fökai Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 And of course 5 seconds after I read that I go into the ESPN sucks thread and discover Rome is Burning is going daily. ESPN hates me. Good lord. Here's a gem from Rome's show last week, which was a jaw-dropper to me due to its timeslot. "Simpson said that he hasn't seen a USC game in just over ten years - hmm, I wonder what OJ was doing a little over a decade ago? Oh, I know....he killed a waiter, his own wife and got off scot-free. NOW I remember." "O.J. should stay away from spectating, and participate in something he's good at....like you know, killing.""
Sass Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Rome and Smith back-to-back might just raise the rate of suicides in America during the hours they're on.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 So is that 1st and 10 show with Bayless and Paige no longer @ 4?
starvenger Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 How about everyone on Smith's show (including him) uses a megaphone when they talk? Screamin's first guests - Ty Pennington and Jimmy Hart. NOW I remember." "O.J. should stay away from spectating, and participate in something he's good at....like you know, killing."" Well, it's funnier than anything Kilborn's done the last few years... So is that 1st and 10 show with Bayless and Paige no longer @ 4? I believe that it's been folded into Cold Pizza.
The Czech Republic Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 "O.J. should stay away from spectating, and participate in something he's good at....like you know, killing."" Not a Rome fan but that's funny shit.
TheBigSwigg Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 TRULY, THIS IS A GREAT DAY IN SPORTS MEDIA HISTORY This is one of the best posts I've ever seen in my life.
NoCalMike Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 I like Bayless, he usually has the guts to not go with whever the current media love is pushing and he will go out on a limb. He also is hilarious on the radio when he sits in for Rome. As far as Jim Rome goes. I am a huge fan of his radio show, however I feel his TV shows fail at giving the same vibe. I see him trying to work it, but it doesn't feel the same. Also, if you listen to his radio show daily, it becomes obvious that a lot of his material for the tv show is recycled from his best soundbites from the week's worth of radio show.
