I had this thought this morning while listening to the morning shows while driving to work. I was wondering if other cities football fans are as rapid as they are here in the Philly area.

This comes about after listening to people willing to try and eat the most testicles to win tickets. Not just "you eat some testicles, you win tickets", they actually had to beat out other testicle eaters, so you could basically eat a bunch of balls and get shit.

Also a man declared on sports radio, that if he had to die for the Eagles to win this week, so be it and it was worth it.

My question to people in other areas, is it like this there? I mean, this isn't even the championship game or Super Bowl yet.

I'm an Eagles fan myself, but if they make it to the Super Bowl, the 2 weeks before it are going to be complete hell with all of the hype that WIP and the local stations are going to squeeze in. Suffice to say that it will be the most ever hype driven 2 weeks in Philadelphia history.

Ohio State football is practically a religion and Michigan/OSU for always resulted in campus riots no matter what the result.

I think a lot of the hype this week is just the desperation to watch a real football game as it has been over a month now. Did you hear the guy singing the Eagles fight song while licking the supermarket tires? I would rather eat the testicles.

One huge reason I want the Eagles to go to the Superbowl (other than the whole they are my team and they have never been there in my life or won period), is I just want to be at the WingBowl two days before the SuperBowl. That will be the biggest party ever.

Football fans here are pretty passionate, and definitely get into the Pats.

But, even though it sickens me, this area will always be "Red Sox Nation" and no matter how dominant any other team becomes, the Sox will always be first, by a longshot, in the Boston/New England area.

It's a religions here.

People were still f'n talking about the Sugar Bowl into July last year and I have a feeling people will be calling into the radio about the Orange Bowl even during the season next year.

It's pretty much all we have and people are nuts. You think I'm bad? Spend a weekend in Norman.

49er fans have always seemed rather laid back and dispassionate to me, even during the apex of the glory days of St. Joseph of Montana. They're certainly very subdued nowadays... :D Which is good; don't have to worry about anybody jumping off one of the bridges after a 2-14 season.

Raider fans, by contrast, are like some hybrid of a religious cult, biker gang, and fiercely nationalistic ethnic minority. They live the gimmick. They aren't quite English Soccer Hooligans, but sometimes they seem dangerously close to it.

Passionate here in FLA on both ESPN and FOX's radio stations.

ESPN has a morning show that discusses football signings over baseball in the summertime. FOX has a morning show devoted entirely to the Bucs (who I guess didn't fare so great this past season as they're talking about how each person can effect the team next year.)
