NIGHTMARE SANCHEZ

I'm in love with this guy.

Diegos biggest advantage going into this fight is his size.

They said that on the show too, but unless I read the graphic wrong, he had a one-pound, no-inch advantage.

To me, his presense is bigger though. He's a beast. I haven't been following *that* closely, but from what I saw, Diego scared the crap outta me. I think I saw that fight with Alex (I know there are two, but I forget his last name) and he just killed him.

That was one huge ass kicking. I love this. Hopefully more of this comes on Spike TV.

So for the guys that know more about UFC, how often does a guy, say Diego, end up fighting on PPV? Have there been any talks who some people are he might face? And how do they decide who gets title shots in UFC?

I have to say Bonnar for this next fight, but it's going to be close.

Florian was moving up about 20 pounds in weight, I dunno what Deigo fights at, but Florian loses a lot of power since he walks around at 160 and Deigo walks around probably at 190. Just think of that. When Deigo is doing chinups, he's lifting up 30 lbs more bodyweight. When he does pushups, he's pushing up 30 lbs more weight. When he's running, he's carrying around more weight.

UFC's are every other month on PPV. Fighters rarely fight on consecutive shows, usually every other show. Contenders are basically determined by records and who management wants to "push".

And yeah, that was total domination by Sanchez...

UFC has it's favourite fighters, but a lot of the time it's a revolving door so they could bring in anyone. The current middleweight (189lbs) champ is Evan Tanner, and he would be a GREAT fight for Sanchez. Georges St Pierre vs. Sanchez would fucking RULE, but that would be at Welterweight (169lbs).

So that extra 23 pounds is just extra weight that does practically nothing for Florian?

They should really bring in Joey Villasenor next year. Think of him as Diego's scary older brother who loves brutalizing people even moreso than Sanchez.

Bingo.

Unless you're BJ Penn, moving up in weight generally doesn't help. I'm sure Lei will come on here and prove me totally wrong, though ;)

Dana White said they had to get rid of a lot of potential fighters because they had criminal backgrounds or didn't come up to snuff at the time, plus the Spike people had a lot of imput. So that may explain why someone like Florian, a lightweight or welterweight, was fighting as a middleweight.

My guess is, the UFC will give Sanchez two relatively easy fighters (with good records, but they haven't really beaten anyone) and then give Deigo a title shot. It's a 6 fight contract, so the third fight would be a title match and were he to win the title, he'd have 3 defenses.

No, you got it right, RRR. There are some examples of guys who can't handle cutting weight and are therefore more effective at a higher weight class (Fabiano Iha & Vladimir Matyushenko are two examples), for the most part, cutting down to a lower class will get you better results. There's reasons for that, but fuck it, TUF is on.

Question: Why did this season only have Light Heavyweight and Middleweight? Are they the most competitive?

I'd guess because you'd find the most amount of fighters around that size, rather then much larger heavyweight or smaller welterweights. Obviously, if they were to use all 5 weight classes in the first show you'd have like 40 fighters, it'd be ridiculous...

MW is arguably the most stacked division in North America, while LHW is definitely in need of some new blood.

They're going with welterweights & heavyweights next (so scratch my plans for Joey).

There are plenty of talented welterweights out there, but most successful American heavies not already in the UFC are fat slobs who'll make the division look like a joke.

Damn Kevin James need to ditch that goatee. I'm saying Forest in the 3rd by decision.

"I'm cutting down on the sex too, I'm hungry."

"I got really drunk a few times."

Brilliant.
