Sass 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2005 Yeah, I was already thinking about closing the thread the day before the first game of the season. It'll be closed by then. The Eagles should spend it's money on both Price and Warrick. If they do that, #1 WR TO, #2 WR Price, and WR ## Warrick *will* win that team and city (finally...) a goddamn Superbowl. I don't think my SB pick, the Cowboys, or anyone else in the NFC, could shut that group down. Add in Westbrook and that team will be *stacked* on offense. Maybe the Ravens could stop that team though...
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2005 Len Pasquarelli has reported that the Eagles will likely sign Darnerian McCants after the last preseason game on Thursday. I don't mind this signing, since he'll be the #4 WR and that means McMullen stays off the field...
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2005 Titans have added Jaguars #2 wideout Troy Edwards to their corps, where he will most likely be the #3 wideout behind Bennett and Calico, although any one of the rookie trio could take it away from him
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 Warrick is headed for Seattle... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor..._len&id=2148248
Robert 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 If he can stay healthy, Hassleback will have another WR threat. The Pats also dumped Chad Morton today. Here is what I got off the internet from a website for myself: It's a custom of Ray Nitschke that was made from McFarlane NFL's series. Cost me around 85 bucks. Sass 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 Simon and Colts defense: upgrade or downgrade?
Fökai 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 Upgrade to the highest degree. Combined with Triplett and Reagor, the big gaping hole in their run defense is now closed. But Simon's ability also allows him to lend a hand in collapsing the pocket, giving Brock, Mathis and Freeney (especially) easier opportunities to garner boatloads of sacks. Dungy see the same things in Simon that he did in Sapp when in Tampa, so this should be good news for Colts fans. I shudder to think what they can do if all are healthy (see Triplett). EDIT: Forgot about Reagor.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 It's an upgrade. Simon is still a good DT. I do question, though, if a line with Mathis, Freeney and Simon would be too much upfield pass rush and not enough run support. The article mentions that he is solid against the run, but they must have missed the games last season before Trotter was inserted into the lineup. Also, even though I don't see the numbers in the article, I would still be willing to bet they overpaid for him (if a double digit guarantee pops up, they overpaid for Corey Simon). I do have to wonder about the conditioning issue. Last season he came in from his holdout completely out of shape in his contract year. Makes you wonder what he will do once he has the new contract. Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted September 2, 2005 Favre's gonna die this yer: 2 sacks on 2 drives for the Titans. *sigh*
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted September 2, 2005 Favre just left the game limping after a hit. Wonderful.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted September 2, 2005 Okay they are putting him back in.... either they have a death wish for him....or ....TOUCHDOWN!
KingPK 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2005 Yeah, I was already thinking about closing the thread the day before the first game of the season. It'll be closed by then. I say it gets closed Monday and an "NFL Opening Week" thread be created for Week 1 discussion. Pats are getting their asses kicked in their last preseason game. 'Course, they got smacked around LAST year too, so maybe this is a good omen.

nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2005 Pats are getting their asses kicked in their last preseason game. 'Course, they got smacked around LAST year too, so maybe this is a good omen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The only offensive or defensive starter to play was Gay. So it's not like anyone worth watching got their ass kicked. And I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Flutie sucks. I am praying that Brady stays healthy, because that team will go nowhere with the midget leading them to three-and-outs.
Sass 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 QB news: Jeff Garcia broke his fibula bone and could miss the rest of the season. Trent Green underwent surgery to fix a circulation problem in his leg and is on blood thinners. He could miss Week 1 vs. the Jets. Drew Brees suffered a mild ankle sprain but said he will not miss any time. Sage Rosenfels could, maybe, start in Week 1 as the Dolphins QB. Other news: FredEx, Freddie Mitchell, got released by the Chiefs. Ricky Williams 4-game suspension for smoking too much chronic begins on Friday. He could end up being trade bait. Tedy Brushi will "definitely" return next season for the Patriots, or so he says.
Just John 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 You know you're a shitty WR when you get cut by the freaking Chiefs... Yeah, they have a kick-ass offense, but they'll probably start Eddie Kennison and Sammie Parker as the 1 and 2's.
Sass 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 Mitchell can't catch. He'd fit right in with Seattle.
Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 With Garcia going down it looks like Joey Harrington's job is safe for one more year at least, whether he finally has a breakthrough season or not.
Sass 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 This is worth mentiong too: Deion Sanders ($1000) and Warrick Dunn ($5000) have asked that all NFL players donate $1000 and $5000, respectively, to the Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts.
teke184 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 Dunn throwing in doesn't surprise me at all... Due to the tragedies in his life, he's been VERY good about giving back to the community whenever he can. That's why he was named the Sports Humanitarian Of The Year recently.
Sass 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 Yeah, his mom, who was a cop in NO, got shot and killed on duty and Warrick was left to take care of his younger brothers and sisters. Him and Derrick Brookes are two of my favorite non-Raiders players when it comes to charity cases. Those two guys really do help out the less fortunate a lot. Fuck, Alex Smith's ridiculous signing bonus would help out NO right about now. He hasn't even played in a regular season game yet too. I hope all the guys in the NFL donate something since I doubt many of them are strapped for cash.

She got killed working an off-duty shift protecting a supermarket manager making a night deposit about 2 blocks from where I used to catch the bus to school. Sass 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 Damn. Yeah, I remember now about her getting killed off-duty but forgot it happened in Baton Rouge. What a crummy deal for Dunn and his family. He seems like a classy guy from all accounts I've read on him and his charity work.
tominator89 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/PHI/8801910 Eagles release Hugh Douglas, Sean Landetta, and Jon Ritchie. Somewhat surprising, but not really when you consider their tendency to cut older players.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 Hmm maybe they'll bring Ritchie back later in the year because Josh Parry BLOWS.
Sass 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 I guess Douglas won't be getting up in TO's grill anytime soon again...
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 I don't think there is really any difference between Parry and Ritchie at this point. Parry played decent during the preseason and with Ritchie's age and injury issues you can see why they leaned towards Parry. It isn't the Ritchie of two years ago playing anymore. The cut I question is Steve Scuillo. He gets overlooked for some reason, but I thought he played well when Mayberry went down last year. The whole preseason all you heard was "they like (Darilek, Armstrong, Jackson, etc., etc.)", but give me the player who proved he can play during games last year (plus he is still young and cheap, so those things don't even work against him).
