USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 My favorite memory is when my hometown team of the Chicago Bears rolled through one of the best NFL seasons seen in history (going 15-1) and going to the Super Bowl and completely smashing what is today's "dynasty" in New England Patriots, 46-10. I miss those days of the Junkyard Dogs.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Last time the 'Skins won in '92 is my fondest memory. I was only 12, but I will never forget that feeling. Seeing the Packers go down to the Broncos was nice, same with the Rams melting down against the Pats. If only the Panthers had the ball a little longer last season on the final drive...... Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Seeing the Packers roll through the `96 season with the #1 offense and #1 defense in the NFL to ALSO beat today's dynastyin XXXI, much like our archrivals did in `85. The next year was a heartbreaker, though the year after that was probably even worse (the last second TO touchdown catch from Steve Young-which was both Holmgren and White's last games as Packers)

No one could stay away from rooting for Brett Favre and Reggie White. They were so damn likable, and this coming from a Bears fan. Though I'm glad the 85 Bears trumps the 96 Packers in terms of... well everything.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 The first Super Bowl win, of course. It wasn't a sense of elation more than it was everyone saying "Holy fuck, the Patriots actually WON?" I went to the victory parade last year, which was damn fun. Also, watching Elway finally win (in a damn good game too) had to please any football fan. "Wide Right" was probably the first SB I remember watching from beginning to end.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Since I've had nothing but heartbreak with my Steelers, the fondest memory I have was the incredible finish between Tennessee and St. Louis; just a great moment for any football fan.
Sass 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 The Raiders finally going back to the Superbowl in '03 after an almost 20 year drought. They were the only team to have been in a Superbowl in the 60's, the 70's and the 80's. Then the team got *blown* out by the Bills in the '91 AFC title game, 50 - 3. 50 - 3... That game was a catalyst for the crappy attendance the Raiders would set the following years until they moved out of Los Angeles and back to Oakland. The 90's are what I consider the "dark decade" for the Raiders and is not something I like going back and thinking about much. Seeing the Raiders get mangled in the Superbowl by their old coach Gruden and his new team the Bucs was something surreal. 2001 was when the Raiders would have won. Had the refs not gotten involved in the Pats game, the Raiders would have been the team to beat the Rams in that year's Superbowl. It was just one of the most frustrating games to watch since the '91 beatdown. Just...amazing to watch though. The Raiders were just destroyed systematically in that Superbowl. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 I was at the Patriots v. Rams Super Bowl so that ranks as my favourite. Seeing U2 live and all the Rams fans break down and cry after Vineteri kicked the field goal was pretty funny. I also loved Packers v. Broncos, Pats v. Panthers and Rams v. Titans. Giants v. Ravens was so depressing- I was hoping the Giants would somehow pull it out- and they lost 59,392-5.
Mole 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 The Niners BLOWING out the Chargers. And Mr. Clutch coming through for the Pats against the Rams will always be close to my heart. Maybe it is because my ex is a Rams fan and when the Pats do well I am a homer.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Positive side the only team that won that I was fan of was Tampa Bay. So that was fun. I was a huge Bills fan back in the day, and the Norwood miss really hurt. It was probably made worse, because I hated the Giants.
Crimson Platypus 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Super Bowl XVII Washington 27, Miami 17 Watching the Redskins dominate the Dolphins, loving every carry by John Riggins, just a bruising performance by the fullback. Despite the outcome of the game I somehow came away from that a Dolphins fan. Probably because, as an 8 year old, I liked their uniforms? Can't be sure, but yeah there ya go. HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Favorite Year: 2001 SB and 2003 SB wins by the Patriots Favorite Moments: Vinny's 1st game winning FG, seeing the 49ers slaughter the Chargers in 1994, seeing the Cowboys kill the Bills 2 years in a row, and seeing the Raiders get killed by Tampa Bay. Most Hated Moments/Players: Green Bay and Desmond Howard in 1996
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Either the stretch by Dyson to try and get the ball into the endzone in the Titans/Rams game or Brett Favre running around the field with his helmet held high in the air after throwing that 54-yarder to Andre Rison on their second offensive play of XXXI. Those are the first two memories that come to mind. You wouldn't believe how many people I know forgot Ravens/Giants and Buccaneers/Raiders even happened. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Patriots related: I remember feeling like it was just a nightmare as the Bears debacle went on ... Eason playing like my grandmother would have (and she died a few months before) and Ditka being a dick by giving the TD to Perry instead of Payton. (even though I was/am a huge Pats fan, I've always like Payton) I remember watching the Pats lose to the Packers with my then-roommate from Wisconsin, and having the surreal feelings of elation everytime he was pissed and vice-versa. We also had a deal where the person who just had a great thing happen (TD, FG, turnover recovery) would pack a bonghit for the other person and then we'd do a shot. Needless to say, I don't remember much from after that game. I remember the un-real feeling of watching the Pats beat the Rams. The New England Fucking Patriots, Champions of the World?!? I remember leaving Montreal at the crack of dawn to get to my friend's house for last year's SB party, and being so sickly hungover that I told myself I wouldn't drink. I think the first Jack on the rocks was poured about noon. Non-Pats: Watching Tim Krumrie snap his leg at my mother's then-boyfriend's bar. Watching with glee as the dumbass Broncos fans got tear-gassed after winning the SB. Being at a party that some kid from San Diego threw when they played the 49er ... he paid for the keg and all the grub and whatnot, and was ready to celebrate his team's victory. He kicked us all out before the game even ended.

Slayer 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Worst #1: 1997. Green Bay winning. Nuff said. Doubly bad because after Howard's last big return, my friend (a Pats fan, no less) and I said "fuck this" and went outside to play catch and hoops instead. In 40 degree weather. I came down with a case of pneumonia that took me out of school for a month. Worst #2: 1999. The "Minnesota should have been here" bowl for me, I quit watching after halftime. Only memorable moment was a commercial for The Mummy overrunning into the game. Best #1: 1998. Denver denying Green Bay a second in a row. This was fun because I was living at a Kansas State dorm in a hallway filled with Chiefs fans rooting for Green Bay (being very pissed that their big division rival knocked them out of the playoffs two weeks prior) and I was the only one rooting for Denver. Fun times. Best #2: 2002. Pats beating the Rams. Having two of my best friends being Pats fans, and having really disliked the Rams in their ascendence over the previous couple of years, this one was quite good for me. kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 The '95 Steelers-Cowboys Super Bowl, but not for the game. I got home from work and watched the game with my mom and now-deceased grandma. In the second half Publisher's Clearninghouse had that hippie live commercial where they go to someone's house and give them a check. Well, after that commercial I made a remark like "How can someone be so stupid to think this is real?" I was later informed that my grandma, who was a sucker for these "instant win" schemes entered this dumb contest and she got a letter asking her to let PC know where she was going to be during the Super Bowl. No wonder she hated me...
Ripper 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 I am a bills fan so...yeah.... Oh and not the last play in the Tennessee Rams game, but the play before that when Steve McNair just REFUSED to leave that play without a completion. Guest Mosaicv2 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Like: Superbowl XXX: Cowboys defeating the Steelers... since I dislike the Steelers and my brother is a die-hard Cowboys fan. Superbowl XXXII: Denver vs Green Bay... why, because John deserve it damnit! Superbowl XXXV: Because I seriously love those Raven uniforms. Superbowl XI: Oakland vs Minnesota... Seeing how the Vikings players were crying more than the fans is priceless. Superbowl XV: Seeing Philly choke against a wildcard team. Superbowl XXIII: Joe Montana's last second game-winning drive makes it an instant classic. Dislike: Superbowl X, XIII & XIV: because the Steelers pull it off in the last seconds of the game. Superbowl XIV: Rams vs Titans: I was so cheering for the Titans to win it but one yard short of the tying touchdown made my heart sink. Superbowl XXXI: Patriots not winning it... and the Packers did... not fair. Superbowl XVIII, XX, XXIIII XXXVII: Just BIG blowouts. that's all. bye.
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Being a Giants fan superbowl 35 was a huge letdown for me as I was getting used to my team winning the big games (as the yanks had just completed their three peat) and I had really gotten into the NFL season that year and the blowout of the vikes in the NFC title game gave me big hopes. add to that I woke up on that sunday sick to my stomach and was throwing up all day the game only added to my misery. I sorta remember the giants winning sb 25 , as in I remember my dad outside in the snowy ny air dancing in the streets I enjoyed the broncos beating the pack as well as the pats beating the rams cuz I hate the rams (especially since people in cali contiuned to root for them like they were still playing here) and I loved the raiders getting trounced by Tampa cuz it pissed off all the people in southern cali (despite as I kept telling them the team had moved back to northern cali by then and thus werent their team anymore) last years game was incredible especially the 4th quarter I was on the edge of my seat fo that one. TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 I remember the gleam of hope I had during XXXV when the G-Men came within 17-7 on a return, only to have Baltimore return the next kick off and pretty much end the game right there. Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Watching Joe Montana march down the field @ SBXIII and slay the Bengals on the final drive of the game continues to haunt me. I look at the Patriots of now the late 80's Broncos as inspiration for the Bengals chances of future success. At least unlike New England and Denver, we weren't blown out or completely outplayed at the superbowl. My favorite memories? Watching John Elway do a helicopter spin as he showed he was willing to do anything to win that game. Watching deja vu as Brady calmly led the team down the field to once again set up for Adam V's winning field goal. Watching Dyson fight for the final yard and coming painfully short. Best non game related memory? SuperbowlXXX. My girlfriend at the time being a major steelers fan and me being a cowboy bandwagoner making a bet on the game. Steelers win, I would have to be her slave(which i was anyways) but if Cowboys win, Sex whenever i felt so inclined. How about them cowboys?
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Someone should make a thread regarding an average player having a huge superbowl performance, which leads them to a big FA contract, and then they end up sucking the rest of their career. Larry Brown comes to mind, signing with the Raiders after he INT'd O'Donnell twice on throws that were right to him, LOL. Being a Skins fan, my #1 goes to Timmy Smith who I believe rushed for just about 200 yards against the Broncos in his first start ever in the NFL, and then going on to be a bust the next couple of years and then never being heard from again. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Why don't you start the thread Mike? One moment that really sticks out is when Tim Krumie of the Bengals broke his leg on like the first play of the game. The Super Bowl shuffle.
