Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 Ossie Davis, noted activist, Kennedy award winner, and star of films like "Do The Right Thing","School Daze", and "Bubba Ho Tep", has died at 87 years of age http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/a...mo/obit_davis_5
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 I remember Ossie from so many great things. I remember him as Ponder Blue on "Evening Shade", as the limo driver in "Joe versus the volcano", the judge that sticks it to Tommy Lee Jones in "The Client", bail shop owner Chuck in "Grumpy Old Men" and the most important role I'll remember him in is as John F Kennedy in "Bubba Ho Tep". Brillant actor and an amazing career. Right now the Hollywood in the sky is a helluva lot more talented than the one that remains.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 The worst thing about Bubba Ho-tep is that a generation of people think that was Ossie Davis's best work. Great actor, great man.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 I didn't like Bubba Ho Tep, but I enojyed Ossie in his role. That's too bad, I always seemed to like his work. 87 though, so it's not like he passed before his time.
Papacita 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2005 I actually got the chance to meet Ossie back in the 5th grade when he came to speak at my school. It goes without saying that he was a great actor, but from the brief interaction I had with him, he came across as a genuinely good man, and very knowledgeable too. I actually still use some of the points he discussed that day in conversations/debates/etc. Sucks to hear he's dead.

MDH257 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2005 I loved his speech/voiceover at the end of "Get On the Bus". I thought that made the movie.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2005 The worst thing about Bubba Ho-tep is that a generation of people think that was Ossie Davis's best work. IMO, it's by far the most enjoyable of his works. But then again, Bruce Campbell's performance was the one that owned the film.
Shanghai Kid 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 Was just watching the underrated boxing movie Gladiator and Ossie Davis was great as the trainer.
