Best Double team Combos

Recommended Posts

Guest Trivia247

Of course outside the crisp Double team moves that can be seen on TNA or ROH what were the double team moves you remember growing up from your favorite or at least Note worthy Tag teams

What looked at least to you to be devastating moves

heres a few of mine that i've seen

Dudley Deathdrop

Pitbulls Top rope Powerbomb

Spike Piledriver (First seen when the Brainbusters used it)

Doomsday Device

Demolition Decapitation

Headcheese Decapitation (with a flying legdrop instead of the elbow drop)

Double Flapjack

too just double team moves that might not lead to a finish

Samoan Double Headbutt

Double Dropkick

Rockers Double Superkick

etc etc

what Double team moves stick out in your mind?

I was always impressed with Hercules Hernandez & Paul Roma (Power & Glory) finisher. A superplex by Hernandez immediately followed by a top rope splash from Roma. I believe they called it the PowerPlex but I may be wrong on that.

The Powers of Pain had a finish which was simple but looked great(especially at Summerslam 88) with a Warlord powerslam followed by a Barbarian Diving Headbutt.

The Steiners had a couple but the top rope DDT looked the best.

I liked the move the Hart Foundation used to do where Neidhart would powerslam Bret onto their opponent.

I loved the Faces of Fear's Backdrop into a powerbomb.

I think the Orient Express use to do a Superkick into a German or Tiger Suplex, but they never held the hold long enough to bridge...at least I thought I saw them do it once

Everything good is mentioned, but I'll say the Midnight Express were an awesome team for double team maneuvers (Eaton & Lane).

What was up with Jaques and Raymond's homo-erotic finisher?

what? pretty much a Electric Chair Lift Moss Pit basically?

or a Non Somersault Molly go round...

Les Bomb De Rougeau

I only saw them do it at Wm3.

<<I only saw them do it at Wm3.>>

It's funny how un-over they were. They got the respectful face tag team pop, but that was it. It wasn't until they became "All American Boys" that they really got noticed by the fans.

What's sad is how the tag teams are dying today, and have been dying over the last few years.

Back then we had the Bees, Can-Am, Dream Team, Orton/Muraco, Young Stallions, Strike Force, Brainbusters, just to name a few.

WCW also did a nice job of killing the division, especially when they put a belt on "Judge" Judy Bagwell.

I'm a big fan of old school tag matches, so it sucks to see the garbage teams on TV today.

As for a tag team finisher, I thought of one that might be cool. Imagine one guy holding the victim up like the Rougeau finisher and the other guy leaping from the top rope and doing a somersault powerbomb. Would that be too dangerous to be done on a regular basis?

well keep in mind, the WWE might be killing the tag team divisions inadvertantly because they don't know what to do with them anymore..

but the WCW and Bischoff in particular was out and out blatantly killing it, for some damn reason he never liked tag team wrestling.

It's sad when the old lower midcard teams like the Bees, Stallions, Rougeaus and Conquistadores, teams I didn't really care for that were overshadowed by The Hart Foundation, Demoliton, Brainbusters and Bulldogs, completely blow away any tag team the WWF has created in the last four years, with the exception of WGTT and Los Guerreros, who each lasted for like what, a year? I doubt we'll ever see that much tag team depth again.

Jack Evans & Teddy Hart have a really slick variation on the Vegomatic that I always mark out for. Jack holds their opponent in backbreaker position, and Ted flattens them with a shooting star press.

It is hard to believe as a legit move, but the SAT's Spanish Fly is still one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

I remember in general I loved all the DT Moves The Quebecers did.

Hell, Jacque always had great DT moves in his Teams.

Malenko/Benoit - Dropkick into a German

Haas/Benjamin - Superkick into a German

Steiners - Scott does a top rope DDT with the opponent on Rick's shoulders

Mortis/Wrath - While Wrath has the opponent in a boston crab variation, Mortis hits a leg drop from the second rope

Edge/Christian - Con-Chair-To

Edge/Christian - Double low blow with opponent in the tree of woe

Raven/Kanyon - Combo sit-down powerbomb and reverse neck breaker

Personally, I liked the version Chaz and D-Lo would do, superplex and frog splash. I thought it just looked really good and made fantastic sense.

If there's one thing i hate in matches today it's the lack of double team moves. I absolutely hate the abdominal stretch/kick or the choke in the corner that everyone does. C'mon guys get a bit more creative than that.

- I always get a kick out of the Au Revoir

- Booker & RVD actually had a decent set of team moves during their run as Raw Tag Champs. IE: Booker holds up opponent for a back suplex, RVD dives off with a crossbody.

- Or the always awesome Heat Seeker with Booker and any of his partners. (Partner holds up opponent for a spinebuster, Book springs up and nails a Harlem sidekick to the head)

Were they heels or faces? I can't even remember, but I thought they meshed pretty well as a team and deserved a better push than they got.

Heels. They were managed at one point by Tiger Ali Singh.

I actually preferred the early beta-version of the MosherPlex. Only once used, Chaz would do his seated senton (same thing Rey does) and D'Lo would follow it with the frogsplash.

I absolutely hate the abdominal stretch/kick

The best version was the way the Rougeaus did it at Summerslam 88 with Raymond jumping over the top rope and doing a cocky little strut before the kick.

I am a mark for the Rocker-plex (I think that's what it's called, the vertical suplex with the other person doing a crossbody block on the suplex victim). I saw XXX use it a while back and just went YESSSS~!

I loved when they did that. I marked for the cocky strut.
