DMann2003 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2005 This April marks the 15th anniversary of WrestleMania VI and the Ultimate Challenge between Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior. I was just wondering which side of the match were you on when it first happened. I know everyone here loves the insane promos these 2 gave at the event so I thought this would be a fun little question; who're the Hulkamaniacs and who're the Little Warriors? Myself? I was rooting for Warrior. Never a big Hogan mark, and I figured it was Warrior's time to be on top of the WWF (well as much as a 10 year old can figure). deancoles 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2005 I was rooting for Hogan. I was convinced Warrior was going to turn on Hogan at that time, even at 8 years old I could see a pattern emerging with Hogan's "friends" turning on him. Edit: Looking back Warrior actually came off pretty heelish with his promos and actions before Mania.

Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2005 Hulk Hogan. I liked Hogan as a kid. He was never my favorite though...actually, my first "favorite" wrestler was Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake, for some reason. Anyway, I never cared for the Warrior that much. I guess I thought his style in the ring was kind of cool, but I HATED his promos. I would actually change the channel when his interviews would come on. I didn't understand why he would always be looking at his hands when he was talking, and I thought his way of talking was freakish. I think even then I figured he was a nutcase. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2005 Warrior. I never really cared for Hogan or Warrior (of the big three faces of the late 80s, Savage was the one I preferred by a wide margin), but Hogan was definitely getting boring by this point and I wanted something new. JHawk 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2005 Hogan. At least Hogan coule wrestle a little bit when he had to against guys like Savage and DiBiase. I never saw Warrior being anything special once he started going crazy. Of course, I was predicting a double countout all the way since title vs. title matches never ended in definite decisions. eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2005 never liked any of the 2 even as a kid, but at the time i remember i wanted the Warrios to win, he just looked more menacing and cooler than Hogan.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted February 9, 2005 Hogan all the way. I liked Warrior, but even as a kid he freaked me out. By 1990 though, I'll agree Hogans time had passed and it was time for a new direction (of course, the direction flopped thanks to horrible long-term booking of the Warrior). natey2k4 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2005 I never really cared who won.. I was only 3 at the time.. and i had just started watching wrestling in January of that year.. probably couldn't even understand or comprehend the stuff... haha.. But my favourite wrestlers were Doink, Mr. Perfect, Brutus 'the barber' Beefcake, Tito, Bret, Martel and Michaels. I HATED Hogan, Tatanka, Savage, Yoko and Warrior lol. But to answer the question, I liked Hogan more than Warrior.. and I still do.

Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted February 9, 2005 Warrior. I thought Hogan was annoying because he wouldn't stop saying "brother" over and over again during his promos.

Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 Hogan was my Lord and Savior at the time. That match breaks me up more than Gibson's Passion.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 I was on Warrior's side as a kid. Looking back now, I probably would've been on Hogan's side. Oh me too. In retrospect, Hogan was much better. I like Hogan better now than I ever did as a kid.

Guest The Mandingo Warrior Report post Posted February 10, 2005 I was totally rooting for the Warrior - I had my UW shirt on,, we had seats right under the jumbotron - which weren't too bad.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 Warrior. I went from being a Hogan fan when I was younger, to simply tolerating his inevitable presence as champion at that point. I pretty much turned on Hogan when the "Megapowers exploded" because I thought Randy Savage was cooler, and I was always rooting for someone to beat Hogan for the title after Mania V. haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 I was with the Warrior all the way. As an impressionable 10-year old kid, the Warrior came off as a beast and I wanted nothing more than for him to destroy Hogan and run-wild on the roster with the championship. It was one of the few times, and I think the first time, the title match was a face vs face match. Then, after all that, he only defended it a handful of times before dropping it to Slaughter. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember the only other face vs face Wrestlemania title matches being: Bret Hart vs HBK Undertaker vs Sid (who I THINK was playing a face at the time)
NYU 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 Rock vs. Austin at WrestleMania X-7 was also a face vs. face title match up until the ending.
haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 Holy crap, how in the hell did I forget about that? *slaps self in the face* I guess because of the Austin heel turn at the end, I disregarded that he was a face going into it.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 Sid was a heel, but he was getting cheered half the time so it was hard to notice. Plus, Hart hated him and he was rapidly becoming the most hated guy on the roster. Sid turned face immediately afterwards because of it.
Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 At the time, I was one of the Warrior's "Warriors". I was a Hogan mark at the time, but for me, Ultimate Warrior was above anyone else.

Guest The Decadent Slacker Report post Posted February 10, 2005 Warrior, mainly since he always seemed to move better & had a cooler finish. But my first choice was having Savage just come out & destroy the both of them & win both titles. Savage was the man.
LessonInMachismo 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 I jumped onto wrestling in 1986. I never liked Hogan, but my friend was a huge mark for him. I actually wanted Andre to win at WM3. So when 1990 came, I had won my friend over to root for Warrior. We pretty much shat our pants and went hoss when Warrior got the three count. I was Warrior all the way. Some Guy 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2005 I was with Hogan all the way and used to argue a lot with my friend about who was better. We were 9, he always called Hogan "Lust Hogan" because of Ventura's WM 5 commentary, I don't think either of us knew what that meant though. I liked Warrior but Hogan was the man to me at the time. The dueling promos on Wrestling Superstars and Challenge were gold though, as were the Savage/Hogan ones form the year before. But we both liked Perfect, Bret, Savage, and Rude which was strange because they were all heels and smaller than the typical WWF guy at the time and now for that matter. We went to a house show at the Boston Garden just before WM 6 and were pissed that Bret no showed.
