Nighthawk Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Jericho has been mentioned quite a few times here.
Spaceman Spiff Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Despite working together a bunch of times, Shannon Moore & Jamie Knoble never clicked in singles matches (for me, anyway). They worked quite a few times in HWA, and had some mathes on Velocity, but each left me feeling flat.
Cuban Linx Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Regal too has one of those styles only certain people can work with. His Edge feud especially was hard to get into. Regal and Edge definately. That feud was DEATH, yet the WWE still dragged it out over 4+ months and they never came close to looking on the same page in any of their matches.
Vern Gagne Posted February 14, 2005 Author Report Posted February 14, 2005 Something always seemed to be a bit off with Brett Hart and Shawn Micheals. Not they didn't have good matches, but considering who your talking about. The matches could of been legendary.
The Metal Maniac Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 The matches could of been legendary. Their matches weren't? Besides, I think it's just cuz they hated each other.
Guest MikeSC Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Jericho has been mentioned quite a few times here. Because people have very high expectations of Jericho matches. -=Mike

Jingus Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 He's better than Edge, who's bored me to sleep ever since they broke up the tag-team.

And their Montreal match, finish aside, was pretty bad. But their FIRST series was pretty good. -=Mike
The Metal Maniac Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Yeah, they weren't that great, but I'd argue that those (Montreal and the Iron Man) are still legendary matches; maybe not for the reasons they'd like, but they're still damned-well known about, it seems. I agree though - the Iron Man bored me to tears.
CanadianChick Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 He's better than Edge, who's bored me to sleep ever since they broke up the tag-team. Who are you refering to?

Guest LooneyTune Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 The Bret/Michaels Ironman has to be one of the most over-rated matches ever. Like someone said, over a half hour of worthless "mat wrestling" (a.k.a chinlocks, headlocks, wristlocks) that lead absolutely nowhere, and then a shit-slow pace for the last 20+ minutes where Michaels would lay around for a minute or two at a time stalling for time (or a breather).

Guest LooneyTune Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Two bumps by Foley makes the match a ***** classic and MOTY to some people. Outsode of those bumps, the match is drizzling shit thanks to Foley being KO'ed and Undertaker having a broken foot/sprained/ankle/whatever.
Guest BDC Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 The Foley/Taker HIAC is known because it was a train wreck. Foley came to speak at my school and said if anyone ever said to him, "I loved Hell in a Cell you did with Taker!" and his response would be "I have a restraining order..."
JoeDirt Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 How about Bret and DDP? Were any of their WCW matches good? Bulldog and anybody that wasn't HBK or Bret.
CanadianChick Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Bulldog and anybody that wasn't HBK or Bret. Nash could be in the same catergory there.
Kahran Ramsus Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 How about Bret and DDP? Were any of their WCW matches good? Bulldog and anybody that wasn't HBK or Bret. Bulldog also had great matches with Owen.
Guest MikeSC Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 How about Bret and DDP? Were any of their WCW matches good? Bulldog and anybody that wasn't HBK or Bret. His tag work was pretty damned nice. -=Mike
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Bulldog and anybody that wasn't HBK or Bret. Bulldog v HBK at KOTR 1996 is one of the most boring matches I've ever seen in my life. Whenever I've tried to watch it, I fall asleep.

Their match at Beware of Dog, though, was brutal. -=Mike
Special K Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Regal can have great matches... only against someone who is very similar in style though. He had a couple small gems with Finley, por exemplo. He does lots of little stuff well. I could imagine hims having great matches with Malenko and Danielson, but he is completely lost in the WWE style. I'm sort of surprised Raven and RVD never had a good match. Raven has a few nice spots, and is terrific at controlling the pace of the match. you would think RVD's crazy spots and crazy sells along with Raven's pacing and great heel tactics would have made for some minor classics, not as far as I've seen. It seems RVD really needs an agile guy or a big power guy to bump off of to have a good match. Hoestly, calling Jericho oil and water with people is a bit off. He hass great matches with great opponents, drags a couple good matches out of decent opponent, and some decent matches out of bad opponents. He's not a miracle worker, but he'll almost certainly give you a good match. I agree with Mike in that people may expect a little too much.

" Well, in the case of Austin-Jericho, I don't know why we shouldn't expect a lot. He wrestled Austin, who was in the middle of his great year, and they never could pull out a great match. Jericho had great matches with Rock, so why not with Austin? "Bulldog also had great matches with Owen. " I'm glad somebody replied with this. The Euro title finals match is GREAT.
