Sideburnious Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 My Friend commited suicide saturday night and I only found out a couple of hours ago. It completely shocked me as he was always up for fun and never even seemed depressed in the slightest. I met up with all my other friends and we just hung out for a while, talked and then went for a walk before returning to one of the friends house where my friends got drunk and we all reminised. I'm sorry for putting up something as morbid as this up on the board but it's just really taken me by surprise and I guess in a way I wanted to vent it or see if anyone else went through anything similar. The whole thing is just really surreal and hasn't sunk in completely yet.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Did he leave a note? Its pretty rude not to leave a note explaining why you did it.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Rude because people will blame themselves for it happening in some cases when it wasn't their fault. If I ever committed suicide I'd leave a note.
Mik Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I think sideburnious is trying very hard to shed his forgettable label.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 His friend is a real trooper for offing himself for the sake of Sideburnious' boarding.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Oops! More like was a real trooper.
Golgo 13 Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 How'd he kill himself? For future reference.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 If real, this would have been better off posted in GC.
Nighthawk Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Is it too late for *unzips pants*?
Golgo 13 Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I'd like my note to be so brief, so long and rambling or just a total non sequitur so that either way doesn't really explain anything. Maybe put them through a fun scavenger hunt in order to lighten the mood, only for it to end up being right there in my desk drawer.
Nighthawk Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Actually, my suicide note should just say "*unzips pants*".
Nighthawk Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Or "OMG WTF?!?" ... or "SOCCER MOM'D", but that one should be pinned to my chest. Internet references in suicide notes would rule.
Jingus Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 SB, your friend didn't happen to live in TN or GA, or visited either one recently, did he? Cuz if I happened to pass by the poor bastard on the sidewalk and it had my usual effect on lifeforms, well, I'd feel pretty guilty. On a serious note, I had a friend die recently in what was probably an unintentional suicide, so yeah I know how you feel, and I'm sorry.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Is your friend Hunter S. Thompson?
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Unintentional suicide? How does that work? Was he going to kill himself by hanging, but realized he had too much to live for and decided to step down...thereby hanging himself? I must know.

I guess. -=Mike
Corey_Lazarus Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Or jumped out of a moving vehicle, hit their head, and received massive head trauma so that they're on life support for a few days before their parents - who were driving them - pull the plug. RIP Tina
1234-5678 Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 If real, this would have been better off posted in GC. My exact thought. I had a friend OD, and if I posted about it in here, it would be up for ridicule that I wouldn't be prepared to deal with. Wrong folder, cuz.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 ODing is just ODing. There's no such thing as "Unintentional Suicide" as Suicide is killing oneself on purpose.
Guest cosbywasmurdered Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I get his stereo, and what size of shoes did he wear?
Art Sandusky Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I feel responsible for this, somehow.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Why do you say that? Did you e-mail Sideburnious' friend your photo?
Modern Man's Hustle Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 ODing is just ODing. There's no such thing as "Unintentional Suicide" as Suicide is killing oneself on purpose. You can always come back from being OD'd. I saw it in Pulp Fiction.

Cruel mockery is the second best.

Guest CronoT Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I know somewhat how you feel. A friend of mine has tried to kill herself over a dozen times. She seems to be in a somewhat stable relationship now, so I'm hoping she won't try again.
Vern Gagne Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 My suicide note would blame everyone.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I know somewhat how you feel. A friend of mine has tried to kill herself over a dozen times. I'd never hire her. If she can't off herself in that many attempts then I can't see her doing much correctly.
