"MTV.com is reporting that guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, a founding member of KORN, has left the band and has rededicated his life to Christianity, according to the group's management.

"KORN has parted ways with guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch, who has chosen Jesus Christ as his savior, and will be dedicating his musical pursuits to that end," a statement from the band reads. "KORN respects Brian's wishes, and hopes he finds the happiness he's searching for."

The announcement puts to rest weeks of rumors that Welch was unhappy with KORN's direction. On February 8, he had apparently written a "letter of resignation" to the band's management. In the note, Welch detailed a long list of reasons for leaving the band, including increased moral objections to KORN's music and videos. In particular, he was upset by how he was portrayed in the clip for their cover of CAMEO's "Word Up", off their recently released "Greatest Hits, Vol. 1" album. In the video, Welch's face was superimposed on a dog patrolling a strip club.

Welch plans on further explaining his decision to leave KORN this coming Sunday, when he'll address the congregation at the Valley Bible Fellowship in Bakersfield, California. And on February 28 he plans to leave for Israel.

KORN are currently in the studio working on a new record, which is due in stores in September. "

Let me get on my knee's and pray to Head's Lord that please let this be the end of Korn!!!!

Wait ... which guy in KORN was he again? The one with the bad hair, right?

/waits for someone to think that that was a real question

Korn had a guitarist? Impossible to tell about the annoying thundering double-click bass and Jonathan Davis' bitching.

Wow, a member of Korn dedicating his life to Christ?

I said it as a joke a few weeks back and now it's coming true. That's just funny.

Course, every diehard Korn "fan" is now flipping out and declaring him a sell-out. So I'm guessing that he "sold out" to Jesus.

Jon Davis sounds like Cornholio.

That's insulting to Beavis

will he (Brian Welch) now put out an album called "Follow My Leader" featuring the SMASH HIT SINGLE "Christ On A Cross"?

Feeling like our Christ on a cross (do you see the light)?

Without him all our souls would be lost?

Note: And so ends my input on this.

I'd keep Blink 182 and Korn around if it meant getting rid of Limp Bizkit once and for all

Can't we just let all three vanish?

I can't choose which of the suck I want to hang around.

I'm a fan of Korn, and my reaction is the complete opposite - I hope Head finds the happines that he is seeking.

I would agree though, many Korn "fans" will accuse him of selling out (but these are also the kind of people that don't see the need for Korn to evolve beyond generic nu-metal that some rightly suggest that they have become with the influx of similar sounding bands and the whining that Davis too frequently uses for lyrics and vocals). That label is often thrown about when artists leave a particular band (for whatever reason), or they try something different, or it becomes popular/commercial/mainstream.

Does anyone even know what selling out means?

Not really. I always thought it was invented as a way to hold down the singing greatness that is David Hasselhoff.

I'm still not sure how you sell out and I really don't know how you sell out to Jesus...that's a new one.

If there's an afterlife I bet Jesus Christ doesn't even give a shit about people dedicating their life to him. He's probably up there banging murdered Playmates and smoking weed with Hendrix.

See, if they had pitched that at church I might still be religious. They really went about this whole afterlife all wrong.

I love how some on the Korn board (watching the fallout is fun) are saying, "why couldn't he stay with the band?"

Gee, I don't know. Maybe because the lead singer HATES all things related to Christianity and it doesn't help Head to constantly hear Davis badmouth his religion and get tats of nuns being raped.

That might cause some issues between Head and Davis but I really can't imagine why.

You just know the bassist for Korn at some point said "Dude, stop being a fag" in responce to this.

Me either. Seems perfectly acceptable. HEAD should have went to Catholicism so that Davis could have gotten tats of altar boys being raped...then everything would have been kosher.

2GOLD must be German...

No, but I have heard the hilariously bad "Limbo Dance".

Anyone who can think THAT song is a good idea is a great singer in my book.

Jason Newsted does ... well, did.

"Yes, we sell out … Every night, every seat in the house, wherever we go!"

Wasn't he the most resistant of the band to changing Metallica's look and sound?

Well, what this guy did is the opposite of selling out. He bought in, it was so much the opposite.

Agreed ... if anything, he'll end up losing money by making this career change. Thus making the "you sold out" cries null and void. (although it would have been funny if back in the day the ECW fans chanted "you bought in, you bought in" for new wrestlers that were just joining the ranks the way they chanted "you sold out" at people that were leaving ... strike that, it wouldn't have been that funny)

Yeah, either him or Hammett. Basically the two that didn't have much say in the matter.

You also have to take into account a good chunk of these Korn fans think selling out is when a band or band member calls it quits.

This is fucking stupid. I don't even care about Korn all that much, but you shouldn't quit doing the one thing you're kinda good at just so that you can sit around thinking about a dead guy all day. Oh, and why would be Jesus be offended by a dog hanging out in a strip club anyway?
