RAW Rating

Recommended Posts

Raw drew a 4.0 rating, perhaps slightly disappointing given all the hype for Batista's big announcement since it was just 0.1 higher than last week. On the bright side, the overrun with Batista popped a 5.0 rating, a full rating point above the 4.0 the previous full quarter hour drew.

The tag match with Shawn Michaels & Randy Orton vs. Edge & Christian drew strong 4.1 and 4.2 quarter hour ratings when it was on, above any other segment on the show.

People are more interested in storylines and such as opposed to wrestling, I guess! And it WAS the climax of all that build.

You know WWE is gonna take notice of that rating.

I'm curious to see if that increase was cross-over.

I.E smackdown fans tuning into raw to see the fate of smackdown's title match. Remember, each show drawas a largely different crowd.

Oh fuck them. From now on all major developments should be spaced out 2 minutes at a time from start to finish.

God damn channel changers.

IMO it has alot to do with the E&C tag team match as it is fair to say that they are/were the best tag team in the company........now they need to find a way to get Trish as their manager. I totally want to see Christian start smacking some bitches up in support for Trish or see Edge give some worthless divas the SPEAR!

I need to see Trish, Christian, Edge bust out some 5 second poses. Christian can do the Randy Orton pose, Trish can do the look at my breast one, while Edge can look intense.

I think it was a combination of both.

I know tons of my friends were talking about the UFC thing, and had no interest in wrestling. Now, I'm here in Canada, and RAW and UFC are on different channels, but my guess is that in the US a lot of people were tuning in to see UFC and caught the end of RAW.

But I also think the angle had something to do with it as well, as was said, it was the climax to a big angle, and it was built up well.

It'll be interesting to see if they can keep any of that number int he coming weeks.

Big Dave needs to do the THUMBS DOWN more often.

JR: Batista what do you think of the new guy Chris Master

*adjusts sunglasses and then does the thumbs down*

Batista: It looks like Chris is the master of the botch signature move

*sarcastic laugh*

Well, if nothing else, it means that some fans that don't normally see Raw saw the absolute best that they have to offer right now. I'd expect the WWE to see a surge in business lasting at least until Backlash.

Whether it continues past that pretty much depends on who they program with Batista after HHH. A hot Orton heel turn due to jealousy of Batista's ability to beat HHH could keep the momentum going, but if Batista faces Edge on the undercard while HHH headlines against Angle or something, everyone will probably lose interest again immediately.

I think they need to let him wrestle in the pimp suits now.

I think the Batista overrun was just good storyline and action. I mean that was the one thing the casual fan SHOULD tune in for, to see what Batista's decision should be. Not to mention that Batista thus far has been built as a credible threat to HHH unlike Orton.

Edge & Christian teamed on RAW back in late-2004 and there was no noticeable ratings spike.

But that was the "Edge destroys Christian afterwards" match, which could have legitimately turned Christian face had he attacked Edge later for it.

Edge and Christian...when they are on the same page...just click. Sure there were parts in Monday's match that dragged somewhat, but overall it really showed the casual viewer how much E&C are above the newer tag teams. It also helped that JR & King really tried to put over their history and how well they worked together.

I hated them back in 2000 when they did most of their really good stuff, and looking back on it now I just enjoy the hell out of it. They were cowardice, goofy, and were over as heels. People wanted to see them tore apart, and when they repeatedly tried to back out of tag title matches (only to win them in the end) it just made the fans hate them more.

As for the 5.0... well, we just have to wait until next week.

And Triple H will get the praise for this.

No, I'm pretty sure the WWE's ready to put all their chips in on Batista. He's probably going to get the Lesnar push from here with a good long title reign, and a push where he's booked to be absolutely unstoppable. Batista won't lose clean until at least Survivor Series, and after Mania, I really doubt HHH gets the belt back for at least a year.

Frankly, I'll be happy if Triple H doesn't go into WrestleMania 22 with either the World or WWE title. But I have a bad feeling that he will.

I just hope they don't make him flash a cheesy smile on the way to the ring.

how old is HHH? if he's going for Flair's record, he may have to step on it a bit which means Dave won't have the title for long...

I'm sure HHH is in his mid-to-late 30s.

He only needs 7 more wins. Flair won 2-3 belts after turning 50

vs Hogan

vs Jarrett for sure

Yep, HHH still has two more decades to go before he's finished. :D

Anyone think HHH's knees will hold up, into his 50's? If you look at his in-ring attire, he has a huge knee pad on each leg, and about 70 percent of his legs heavily wrapped. I'm sure its from all the years spent using the Pedigree, and the quad-tear in 2001 didn't help things much either. He's also very noticeably slowed-down his ring style as opposed to the style he used from 1999-2001.

Whoever said it's a three-year high is incorrect. The post-WM draft last year posted numbers just as high, as did Kane's demasking in 2003. It is, however, still a fantastic number.
