Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted February 24, 2005 He-man has at least 3 central stories that are unrelated to one another (IE They aren't happening in the same lifetime) 1> The classic Prince Adam, Man at Arms and OrKo (?) find the power sword within Castle Greyskull while searching, the sword burns Man at Arms but Adam is able to pick it up and harness its power. Skelator wants the Power Sword to unlock the Secrets of Castle Grey Skull. 2> Same as above, only Skelator owns "half" of the power sword and needs He man's half to combine the Swords into one and use the sword as a key to open Greyskulls gates 3> He-man is a barbarian, Prince Adam doesn't exist. He-man leaves his tribe of barbarians and comes across an army of Troops who all look like Man at Arms, Duncan befriends him and the two travel onward. 4> Connected to number 1, but Skelator doesn't exist and King Hiss is the lone bad guy in Eternia So which version did you guys grow up following, or was there another I missed? The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2005 #2 was the one I went by. Hey, what the fuck did Skeletor expect to find in Grayskull anyway? Seriously, did it ever say what was in there that was so important?
Alro 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2005 Was #2 the one the original cartoon went by? If it was, then that is the one I follow.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2005 I went by the original cartoon for He-Man. Oh and Option 4 actually has Skelator, but he's currently taking a back seat to King Hiss right now (since that one refers to the new series).

Slayer 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2005 I know of three versions 1. The early 80's cartoon we all know and love 2. The lesser known short-lived late 80's space He-Man 3. The CN version from earlier this decade (are they still making new ones?)

JangoFett4Hire 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2005 I preferred the barbaraian version. That was the one portrayed in the little story books that came with the first action figures. And Merman's sword = corn on the cob.
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 7, 2005 I like the origin in the Cartoon Network cartoon. Skeletor's origin was awesome as well in that version. I'm also wondering if they'll continue the Cartoon Network series.
Guest Frank_Nabbit Report post Posted March 7, 2005 I think the movie that they are making could turn into a franchise as long as they do it right. I'd love a complete background done (Marlena crashes on Enternia from the planet Earth, and she marries King Randor, so He-man is actually a mutt of sorts. Then Adam can play lazy and scared, until he finds the power sword while traveling with Duncan and Orko(?).... then introduce Skelator and move along.... Movie # 2 can debuet Hordac and have Skelator and Hordac's old partnership that went sour.... Movie # 3 ....maybe King Hiss?
Guest Frank_Nabbit Report post Posted March 7, 2005 The Original Mini-Comics All the toys came with special mini-comics that sought to tell stories involving the characters. In the earliest comics, He-Man is a wandering barbarian on the world of Eternia, which is dealing with the aftermath of a Great War that has devastated the civilisations that once reigned. He-Man is given special powers and weapons by the Sorceress and sets out to defend the secrets of Castle Grayskull from Skeletor. He-Man is supported by allies such as the Man-At-Arms and Teela. A key task is to prevent Skeletor from linking the two halves of the "Power Sword" which will allow him to gain access to the castle. The second series of mini-comics establish the existence of the kingdom of Eternia, ruled over by King Randor and Queen Marlena. The third series developed the concepts further by giving He-Man the secret identity of Prince Adam, the son of Randor and Marlena. The original Masters DC Comics take place in this Eternia, though there are a few contradictions stemming from the early alterations to the storyline. In one of the stories Superman is transported to Eternia where he teams up with He-Man, and he later returns for a second adventure. The middle years of the mini-comics adopted the same scenario as the animated series, and even adapted some stories for the comic form. In later years the comcs would handle the character and back story of Hordak differently from the cartoon. The final mini-comics were released after the animated series had finished and feature many characters and equipment never seen on screen.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 Was I the only one that thought Prince Adam was the worst secret identity in the history of super heros. I mean, at least clark put on glasses and a suit and took the curl off his forehead. He-man looked like Prince Adam if he took his shirt off. And seeing as prince adam always wore that spandex shirt and a vest, he was showing off his equally buff body with a fucking sword on his back, it should have been even MORE obvious. They looked the exact same way. Then Prince adam had a green and yellow cat. He-man rode a green and yellow cat. How many green and fucking yellow cats where there? THEN He-man hung out with all of Prince Adams friends. How stupid were the people in Eternia that they couldn't notice all that shit.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 #2 for me, I grew up watching that cartoon series. I liked the cartoon network show as well. I thought it went well with the old cartoon series, doubt a slight different story. When He-man went to space is when I stopped watching, thats when the series jumped the shark for me. Was I the only one that thought Prince Adam was the worst secret identity in the history of super heros. I mean, at least clark put on glasses and a suit and took the curl off his forehead. But damn good series besidse the space series.
Guest Frank_Nabbit Report post Posted March 7, 2005 Were the Sorceress and Hordak old enemies and why did everyone on Eternia forget about Adora? Yes. Hordak tried to take over Eternia when Adam and Adora were both babies. This is how Adora came to be kidnaped. Hordak knew that the twins both had special destinies, although he didn't know what. So, he snuck into the Royal Nursery and kidnaped Princess Adora. He was about to kidnap Adam when Man-At-Arms entered and stopped him. Later, Man-At-Arms and the Sorceress went to Snake Mountain, which was the Hordes headquarters at the time, to try to rescue Princess Adora. However, their attempt failed, because Hordak ran through a portal with Princess Adora. The Sorceress searched many years for her but was unable to find the world to which Hordak had traveled. To spare everyone the pain of her loss, the Sorceress casted a spell of forgetfulness on everyone and made them forget. Only King Randor, Queen Marlena, the Sorceress, and Man-At-Arms knew of her existence using this logic, then Sorceress could cast a spell to dumb everyone else down as to He-man's real ID
