Guest GK2186 Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Gerweck.net is reporting that Mark Henry tore his quad during practice last week and will need surgery to repair it.
Placebo Effect Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! God, why have you forsaken me?
Vigo Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 The WWE should just buyout the rest of his contract and release him. I mean they'll be wasting there money whether he stays on or whether he goes. Releasing him will make sure that no one ever has to worry about how to bring Mark Henry back into storylines only for those plans to be blown when Henry pulls a tendon while lifting a Big Mac.
Art Sandusky Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Doesn't he only have two years left anyway?
Slickster Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Yeah, it should end by 2006. Hopefully this isn't a HHH-level injury here because I'm not so sure Mark could recover from one of that seriousness.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 If ever a man exemplified the phrase, "You are what you eat", then it's Mark Henry. If he still is on his guaranteed deal, and I'm not entirely sure he is, then they may as well bring him up as the World's Strongest Jobber, and at least use him to get someone else over, because he never will be.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 ^^^ I smell a name change! The gimmick has run its course.
Youth N Asia Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 It's not like I wish bad things upon people. But at least we'll be spared another monster push for this guy. I don't know what Vince was smoking when he came back last time and started squashing people. And unless he's romancing 80 year old women, the fan's just don't want to see him.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 And unless he's romancing 80 year old women, the fan's just don't want to see him. EVEN then no one will want to see him. Nor the 80 year old women for that matter.
Youth N Asia Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 He at least got a reaction from the people
Guest Trivia247 Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 the only thing sadder about a wrestler tearing his quad is tearing his quad when No one is looking. Still Vince took his double quad tear better than Nash did.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 He at least got a reaction from the people Back when anyone would have gotten a reaction. Today no one would care.
Guest JMA Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 If they do ever put Mark Henry back on TV then he should just be used as Teddy Long's enforcer on Smackdown (like 9-11 in ECW). It makes sense from a storyline perspective and he wouldn't have to wrestle much.
Spaceman Spiff Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 ^^^ I smell a name change! The gimmick has run its course. Dance for me, monkey-mod!
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 So how much time has Mark Henry actually been on tv during his 10 year contract? Did they even get 4 years of tv out of the guy? The really sad thing is that they'll probably resign the guy for a cheaper price even though he's worthless and always injured.

iliketurtles Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Well, I think this is the final straw in Henry's career. How many chances have they given this guy?
Open the Muggy Gate Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 These quad tears are getting ridiculous.... Hunter, ya gonna change your name to Henry's Torn Quad?
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Hunter, ya gonna change your name to Henry's Torn Quad? No, but I did change someone else's.

Henry has a clause in his contract where he can't be released. If he could, he would have been long ago. These quad tears are a major problem, but they'll never be addressed because they're caused by steroid use.
Precious Roy Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Man, and I was actually looking forward to his comeback. Say what you will, but he's better than these guys like Masters that they push over their heads. At least with Henry he's got experience, no track record of busting people up in the ring, and he wasn't that bad in some of his RAW matches last year. Plus that line about his 'stank' was CLASSIC!

I agree with this man. Henry really wasn't that bad in the ring last time. He could sell and had nice looking offense. His TV matches with Booker, Goldberg, Jericho, and MIchaels were all pretty good. He's good on the mike too, and he was getting over. I'd say he was probably the best of the pushed JTTS at the time.
haws bah gawd Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Has there been any other wrestler on the roster to consistently get injured, and reinjured, time and time again, as often as Mark Henry?
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 There was a time Hunter was getting injured almost every other week.
Some Guy Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 The WWE should just buyout the rest of his contract and release him. Henry has a clause in his contract where he can't be released. If he could, he would have been long ago. These quad tears are a major problem, but they'll never be addressed because they're caused by steroid use. Why would Vince sign a guy to a ten year contract that he can't be released from? Mark Henry is massive guy who was a power lifter and flopped out of the Olympics? Because he coudl dunk a basketball, maybe? In some ways I feel bad for the guy with all the injuries, he broke his leg about a month after his debut in late 96 and hs never really been able to stay healthy since. As far as the quad tears being caused by steroids, which is true to a degree (steroids increase the risk of these injuries, like smoking and lung cancer, but they aren't mutually exclusive. I doubt Nash or Vince were on roids when they got hurt) it kind of makes me wonder why other guys who were roided to the gills like Warlord, Davey Boy, Hogan, Warrior, Benoit, etc... didn't have the same or a similar injury.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 I'd be willing to bet good coin that Vince is on steroids or something, because with the insane schedule he keeps, you can't be 54 or so and have the body he does without some kind of chemical aid. Warlord, Hogan and Warrior didn't tear anything because their style saw the other guy do most of the work; they usually stood there and let the other guy bounce off of them. And when they did move, it was almost never running; even Warrior only ever ran hard when he was coming to the ring, which itself, if you noticed, seemed to involve him almost speed marching really, which doesn't put so much pressure on the part of the quad that can tear. DBS probably didn't tear anything because most of his mass was on his upper body, with his legs not being too bulked up. If his legs had been as oversized as his torso, then he'd have torn something for sure. Benoit isn't juiced to anywhere the degree the others are. Because he isn't a 6ft6 300lbs lumbering lummox, he doesn't have to put on a great deal of mass, so the risk of muscle tears isn't that big.
Enigma Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 I remember Warrior tore his triceps hardcore at WCW Fall Brawl 1998 by just getting into the War Games cage.
