LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Poll on WWE.com has 85.36% of the fans picking Jannetty to beat Angle.
Guest MikeSC Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 If they had Michaels/Jannetty feud, which i'm not entirely against at the moment, they BETTER put out some kind of Rockers DVD. OTher than that, i don't care terribly. Was great to see them together last night, though. Oh man, THAT would be incredible. Maybe FINALLY release the Rockers World Tag Title win over the Harts on video. -=Mike ...Yes, I heard the match sucked...
Guest LooneyTune Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Poll on WWE.com has 85.36% of the fans picking Jannetty to beat Angle. If Jannetty in any way, shape, or form beats Angle by any means, I would eat my hat. ::realizes I'm already 0 for 1 this week::

Guest LooneyTune Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 ... (hopes to God that wasn't a hint that Angle might've lost) I hope so after reading that.
cabbageboy Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Actually an ultra cheap Jannetty win over Angle with Shawn-ference isn't completely insane. I'd like to see them give that match a good 15m or so provided Marty can go.
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Anyone have a link to the video of this? WWE.com's is not working.

I'd like to see them give that match a good 15m or so provided Marty can go. Hopefully thats the scenario. WWE wouldn't make Jannetty look good just to set up for the squash match everyone originally was thinking. 15 minutes may be a stretch, but around 10 minutes would be fine.
Spaceman Spiff Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 WWE wouldn't make Jannetty look good just to set up for the squash match everyone originally was thinking Why not? Shouldn't they keep Angle looking strong going into the match? Who's going to give Angle a shot to beat HBK if Angle struggles w/ Jannetty? Plus, if Angle looks weak, then HBK looks weak in beating Angle (if that is the plan). The match really shouldn't go longer than 5 minutes (max). Marty gets some token offense in, but Angle cheats to turn the tide, then destroys him. There's really no need to protect Marty.
iliketurtles Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Watching Raw last night was AMAZING. Watching Michaels and Jennetty come out as the Rockers and acting like it's 1990. That shit was awesome. Good for Marty, man.

Marty gets some token offense in, but Angle cheats to turn the tide, then destroys him. There's really no need to protect Marty. I'm being mark influenced right now. They shouldn't have Angle walk all over him in a minute like the "local hero of the week", but they shouldn't make Angle look weak. It's really lose-lose, because if they do both, it won't feel right. If Angle wins in a minute, it makes Jannetty look like a joke, and buries La Resistance even more for the RAW loss. If it's too competitive, then it's bad booking to have a 1-timer come in and look too good. If I were to book it, have Angle pretty much dominate a good chunk of the match, with little bits of desperation from Jannetty, then finally losing when he tries something risky. Or the HHH/Jeff Hardy scenario from April 2001 (except don't make the guy look like a joke).
natey2k4 Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 If it were up to me.. I'd have the match last around 10-12 minutes.. Angle would pretty much dominate the match and every 2 or 3 minutes Jannetty would make a 30 second comeback.. and *the fans would dig the comeback* only for him to be dominated again.. Jannetty would kick out of alot of pinfall attempts.. getting the crowd hot.. and after Jannetty hits the Rocker Dropper he goes for a top rope move, Angle moves and pins but Jannetty kicks out... The fans go wild.. really believing Jannetty has a shot... but Angle snaps and puts Jannetty in the ankle lock for the win. ***I think that would make Jannetty look believable and good if he were to stick around.. and wouldn't make Angle look bad and also have him continue to gett nuttier.
Guest LooneyTune Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 I would have Angle counter the Rocker Dropper into the Ankle-Lock (or even the Angle Slam). Seems more suitable for him to counter a big move with one of his own.
Guest Shadow Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 I think it would be good to show marty giving Kurt a tough time here because it would drive that *maybe* kurt is too confident and since marty theorecticaly is the one who taught shawn how to wrestle(in kayfabe), angle is more aggressive next week.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Being an old man as I am (I'm 30 y'all). This really took me back. It was great seeing all that oldschool tag style stuff. TANDEM OFFENCE! Makes me wonder what Brunzell and Blair are doing. I'm chillin', drinking a beer and browsing the 'Net...
Guest LooneyTune Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Last I heard, Brian Blair was running (or ran) for some kind of political office in Tampa.
Guest Ransome Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 Saying the guy's too old is nuts... how old is Flair again? How old was Funk when he won the ECW title? He can be a productive part of the program, especially since he seems like he can still work. Sorry, but comparing Marty Jannetty to true legends like Ric Flair and Terry Funk is a bit of a reach. Name recognition alone would leave MJ in the dust. People like/tolerate Flair because of what he brings to the table in terms of longevity, notoriety, legendary status, etc. Jannetty, unfortunately, will always be known as the guy who wasn't HBK. I agree. Seriously, people on these forums are usually pretty on the ball, but nostalgia seems to be blinding their judgment today. It was fine for one-off thing on RAW; anything further than that would be stretching it. Give it a couple of weeks and the excitement about seeing a childhood wrestler would fizzle out. Same thing happened with Hennig after RR 02. However, I'm not opposed to a brief Rockers tag title reign, ending with them putting over a new team (NOT La Resistance's 38th reign).

It was more of WWE not using him right and making a joke out of him than it was nostalgia wearing off. All they had to was show the old Mr Perfect videos to get people to know him and maybe make some new ones. That's all. A winning streak wouldn't have hurt either. Instead they have Kane and Austin squash him and show skits of him cheating to win at chess games. After a couple weeks of that, he looked like he didn't care anymore. On the other side, look at what happened to Goldust after RR02. He turned into one of the most entertaining and over guys in the company. That is until they destroyed his character with the tourettes gimmick.
Guest theanswer1824 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Maybe FINALLY release the Rockers World Tag Title win over the Harts on video. -=Mike ...Yes, I heard the match sucked... wait a sec, the rockers held the straps?! i watched wwf religiously as a kid and do not remember that. details?

They won the belts at an SNME taping where the ropes broke (Oct. 30, 1990 in Terre Haute, IN I think). The match was terrible as Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels stayed in a headlock for a long time in hopes of the ring getting fixed. They ended up finishing the match and the Rockers won the belts. Jim Neidhart was allegedly on the way out of the company and they decided to take the belts off of the Harts. The match was never aired because it was horrible (Bret has said he asked Vince to not air it because it was so bad) and since Neidhart ended up re-signing with the WWF, they acted as if the swap never happened (reporting to the fans in IN that because the ropes broke, the title swap was disallowed) -=Mike
Guest terryfunk4life123 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 I think hbk could turn on marty turning hbk heel again that would be pretty cool
Guest LooneyTune Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 And that would make sense... why?
Guest Shadow Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Shawn does need to turn heel but on Marty is pointless unless they did that whole "Lately, I've become stagnat. I havent been who i once was, i lost my fire, so thats why i kicked marty through the glass. Because I figured, hey it worked once, it should work again" type reasoning. and thats just as stupid
Guest LooneyTune Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Shawn didn't kick Jannetty through the window. He tossed him through it. He kicked him to initially turn, then did the window deed to hammer it into the ground.
Guest terryfunk4life123 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 well he makes a much better heel then face i loved the cockyness he used to have
Guest Trivia247 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Why does Marty have to get kicked or thrown into Plate glass again? why replay the HBK heel turn of 14 or so years ago? BTW anyone else happen to notice during the la resistance match vs the Rockers...that the la Resistance actually used the Hart Attack double team on Shawn!
Guest Shadow Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 the hart attack has been in their normal moveset for awhile now.
Guest Trivia247 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 I guess I must have missed it, but that seem so appropo at the time.
Enigma Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Saying Mr. Perfect fizzled because nostalgia wore off when he returned to the WWF in 2002 is total bullshit. He was treated like a total jobber after his RAW main event match with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Wrestling the fucking Heat match before WM18 (Mr. Perfect, Lance Storm, & Test vs. Rikishi, Scotty 2 Hotty, & Albert) and doing nothing but Heat duty, jobbing to everybody. Hell, I remember on the 2002 Draft RAW he jobbed to TAZZ, which was quite a blow to his credibility considering Tazz barely wrestled at that point. In fact, I do believe it was Tazz's last television match. And his last match in the company was jobbing to Matt Hardy on Heat. The idiotic creative team just had no grasp on his character. The first new promo they showed of him, he was playing chess with someone and cheated to win. Excuse me? Since when the fuck does Mr. Perfect have to cheat? He's perfect. It's just an example of the creative team's inability to execute the more subtle things. You hated Mr. Perfect because he WAS perfect. He did things you couldn't do. And what made him a heel, he was a total fucking asshole about it. That's a character. Not this "He cheats, boo him!" amateur storytelling bullshit. Mr. Perfect's 2002 run was a total, complete example of Stephanie McMahon's lack of skill when it comes to writing wrestling AND paying respect to a bona fide legend. I would have coked myself to death after that run too.
alfdogg Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Is Marty all super-Christian now? I didn't see any chinlocks in that match. Is it wrong that I laughed at this?
