nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 It's about the only porn I can watch all the way through for it's non stroke merits. Maybe Taboo. I've never seen the other ones, nor the new ones actually. Agreed. The acting in Taboo isn't much worse than you see in a lot of soap operas and TV movies. The first few in that series are definitely watchable as if they're normal movies. And 2 and 3 are worth checking out, if nothing else than for the nostalgia factor ... they pale in comparison to modern pr0n, obviously, but have a few good moments. Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Yeah, every sports movie. I loved it in Kingpin when he lost to Big Ern, didn't see that one coming. I think I like that movie even more than Big Lebowski. Eh, American audiences almost always pull for the underdog. Otherwise, why make the journey if they're only going to lose? That's why they changed the ending of Dodgeball, test audiences hated it. What was the real ending? EDIT: Or original. Without spoiling the real ending for anyone who didn't see it, I'd say it was probably the exact opposite. So they lost their gym? And Ben Stiller didn't get fat? Basically, yeah. The original stopped after Ben hit Vince to eliminate him. There was no foul, the Cobras win. They celebrate, and it ends with a frozen shot of Ben celebrating with Michele the Fitness concierge. The director said he wanted that ending to show that the good guys don't always win in the end. Anyway, test audiences hated it, studio execs hated it and told the director to change it. He threw a hissy fit and walked off the picture, but came back and shot the theatrical ending.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Well, of course test audiences would hate that. Don't know why he would expect to get away with it. It's a good idea, though the desire to say "Fuck you." to your audience probably doesn't get you far in that industry. Should have had a director's cut for dvd. I've always wanted to make a movie, pretty straightforward action drama, cop movie maybe, where the hero gets pushed too far, and at about the hour and 15 minute mark we see him get stoked up and he gets all his guns ready and says "Let's shut these assholes down!" and he walks out the door and gets hit by a car. Credits roll. That would rule.

Like IDRM said, of course test audiences don't like it. But it would have made for a better movie.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 The ending is actually on the DVD in the deleted scenes. Plus the director whines about it during the commentary.

the max 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 The alternate Dodgeball ending was a gag. The commentary was a gag. Seriously, for Goodman to hit Lafleur and then the movie ends there, no wrap-up, no nothing is so shortsighted that it's funny. That's the joke.

SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 The alternate Dodgeball ending was a gag. The commentary was a gag. Seriously, for Goodman to hit Lafleur and then the movie ends there, no wrap-up, no nothing is so shortsighted that it's funny. That's the joke. My friends have been debating whether or not this is true ever since the DVD came out. Speaking of debates over endings, the things at the end of "A.I." that everyone (except me) thought were aliens were actually ROBOTS. Trust me, its on the DVD. Jesus Christ, I got tired of trying to convince people of this. The much-hated ending to the movie actually WORKS if you know that they're robots. (I know nobody was actually talking about this movie, but I had to get that off my chest.)
Ced 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 In regards to Dodgeball, I thought the rant by Goodman after the credits roll was a nod to the alternate ending. Or was it part of the gag as well?
