clean rob 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 Big Show and the Jeep: The Hell?? It's pretty obvious hype for his Sumo match. If he can push over a jeep, he must be able to push over Akebono. Are they going face/face with Rey/Eddie then? Or was there a turn tonight? I kinda hope they keep both as faces for now.

strummer 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 here's some more partial spoilers from gamefaqs: (edit, full spoilers up) "allright heres what i can remember last night. show opened with joey matthews and johnny nitro beating two jobbers. next was paul london against spike dudley, london won with the 450 splash josh matthews and some other dude, didn't catch the name came out for velocity tapings. mark jindrak beat one of the basham bros., ref banned one from ring side during the match. heidenriech beat a memphis guy with ease kidman & akio beat nunzio & funaki, think kidman did the shooting star press on funaki, cant remember tazz and cole walked out to the ring for smackdown tapings tony chimmel then told us to be ready with signs after the pyro goes off for the tapings tazz is in the ring and big show walks out. they talk about his upcoming match with akibono and show a tape of akibono in action. luther reigns interupts the precedings by driving some kind of jeep out. he tells show that the jeep is like a lot of akibonos and he is much stronger then him and says he'll show him by pushing it over. he tries but can't do it and the crowd laughs. he then runs to the ring and show chokeslams him. as show is leaving, he looks at the jeep and the crowd urges him to push it over. he then does and fails 3 times. he then just smashes the window and walks out. i think they'll edit this out. we wait for a few minutes and then show comes back out to try again. this time a guy runs in with a jack and jacks it up. show finally gets it pushed over and does some sumo stances. a video plays of chavo talking to eddie about him and rey, dont remember much of it. beer does that. Out next is a United States Championship match, or at least it was supposed to be. JBL accompanies Orlando Jordan and he is to face Scotty 2 Hotty. JBL is making fun of his size and Scotty superkicks both of them then hits JBL with the Worm. JBL is mad and he tells them he's wrestling. He proceeds to whoop Scotty. Next up, at least I think this was the next part, Teddy Long comes out and says that smackdown isn't just wrestling but to entertain. Out walks Carlito in Elvis getup with a guitar. He doesn't like it and Long has him sing an Elvis song. Of course he does horrible and the crowd lets him know it. He gets mad and walks off. Eddie finds Rey in the back and tells him he wants to have a match against him at Wrestlemania. Rey is kinda upset and he takes off for the ring because their match is up NEXT! Tag Team Championship match is next and it's Rey and Eddie vs. Hardcore Holly and Charlie Hass. Hass and Holly are walking to the ring when The Undertaker appears on the screen. He tells everyone that Orton made him mad last week when he slapped him and tonight there will be a sacrifice. He disappears and the intro for Holly and Hass continues on. Then Rey and Eddie come out. Rey and Eddie end up winning when Eddie hits the frog splash. Rey then gets on the mic and accepts Eddie's offer for the match. Oh yeah one other thing, during that match, Undertaker played some mind games by having the lights go off and the Screen start getting fuzzy. Next is my favorite part of the night. Shawn Michaels music hits but instead of HBK its Kurt Angle dressed up in HBK's attire. He does the whole entrance and with him is none other then Sensational Sherri. He gets on the mic and tells everyone that he's also an entertainer and he was going to prove it. He and Sherri then sing HBK's song with differnt lyrics that I didn't get cause I was laughing to hard. HBK interupts on the screen and let's Angle know he has a video showing his accomplishments too. It shows differnt parts of HBK's career. Afterwards, Sherri is crying because she is touched by it and Angle gets mad. He puts her in the Anklelock then ref's run out and break it up. Next we have a Cat fight between Dawn Marie and Michelle McCool. Dawn Marie wins. The screen shows us Carlito walking off wen smackdowns NUMBER ONE ANNOUNCA approaches him. He asks where he is going. Something is said and Carlito shoves the Elvis glasses in Funaki's chest and walks off. Funaki puts them on and starts to sing some Elvis when CCC walks up behind and Jeff Jarretts him with the guitar. He's knocked out and Carlito tells him that Carlito has left the building then spits apple on him. Michelle walks by and checks on him. I yell out for her to give him mouth to mouth which got some laughs since nothing else was going on. Oh again during the cat fight Undertaker did same thing he did during Tag team match with the lights and screen. Next I decided to leave for the concessions. It was Booker T vs. Rene Dupree. Didn't start because Undertaker's music started and he appeared behind him. From what I was told, Booker ran off and Rene became the sacrifice. Taker tombstoned him on the ringsteps. That was about it. He did the stretcher job thingy. Your main event is going to be........a debate between Cena and JBL. JBL keeps telling Cena he can't touch him or no shot at Wrestlemania. Cena never does instead he messes up JBL's limo, cuts his tie off and puts it on himself when JBL says he'd look better with a suit and tie. Then poors some water into JBL's hat. Cena is doing all this to try to get JBL to hit him but he never does. Think this is where it will end with Cena walking off and JBL mad. Our main event was Cena vs. JBL and it was actually pretty good. Cena wins with the FU. Tony says thanks and we leave. I could never get anyone to chant with me. I tried to start a Paul London, Funaki, Nunzio, and one of the jobber's chants but no one would. They only chanted for the big stars. Biggest pop was Cena, then Taker, Eddie, and Big Show JBL got the most heat, then Angle, Luther, and Carlito Fun show." GOOD GOD, only 2 matches! (3 if Dawn/Michelle is an actual "match") That is a hell of a lot of talking. This has to be a record for the least amount of wrestling on a show, maybe matching a Raw from 99. ---

Ha! Good work all round there. Looks like the flip side of getting two good shows last week is two rather crappy ones this week. The last ones before Mania better be an improvement. Guest Teckneek Report post Posted March 23, 2005 Man, they really need to make Paul Heyman the lead Smackdown! writer again! There are so many matches in WWE that lead to nothing. WWE as a whole needs a new creative team. If WWE was smart they would make Heyman head Smackdown writer, and hire Vince Russo and make him head Raw writer, and have them compete. Totally make the brands seperate.

haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 You would think with the Jeep segment, WWE would've done a test-run to see if Big Show was capable of tipping the Jeep, before sending him out to embarass himself.

Perhaps a guy with a jack will come out and help Big Show to victory in his "sumo" match at Wrestlemania. It's gotta be a more entertaining idea than whatever they do have planned. BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 Better spoilers. [Credit: PWInsider.com] Show opens with Tazz interviewing Big Show about his upcoming "Sumo match" with Akebono (rhymes nicely with Sonny Bono). Tazz hype's up Akebono's appearance for next week. Luther Reigns comes out driving a Jeep and says that he should be the one facing Akebono, not the Big Show. To prove this, Luther says that he will personally tip over the Jeep onto its side. After a couple of failed attempts, Luther jumps in the ring (while Big Show was laughing at him) and gets choke slammed. Then, with the crowd urging him on, Big Show attempts to tip over the Jeep. Some of this portion may be edited for TV because Big Show had some difficulties at first. Then, a guy comes out from the back with a jack and lifts up part of the Jeep. Eventually, it's enough for Big Show to tip it over. Kurt Angle in the back says he's got another "Blast from the Past" for HBK later tonight. Angle is hilarious!!!!! Scotty Too Hotty was scheduled to wrestle Orlando Jordan, but during the intro Scotty and JBL get into it and ultimately they wrestle each other. After the predictable "worm", JBL kicks out, eventually hits the "clothesline from Hell" and gets the pin. Hulk Hogan's Hall of Fame promo with footage of WrestleMania IX vs. Yokozuna shows up on the Titantron. I, admittedly, mark out for Hogan. He's "THE MAN" and everybody knows it. Unfortunately, I'm in Memphis where there's more Flair fans than Hulkamaniacs. BTW, lots of "whoooo" chants all night (which is always lots of fun). When I lived up in Chicago the Hogan chants at the Allstate Arena were always loud and strong. I guess Hogan appeals more to "Northerners" (like me) than "Southerners" like Memphis. That's just the way it is folks. Teddy Long says he's got a treat for Memphis. He says he's got an Elvis impersonator to entertain us. Out comes Carlito Cool trying to sing some Elvis songs. My only question is this: Where's The Honky Tonk Man when you really need him? Chavo and Eddie are in the back. Chavo says Eddie should wrestle Rey and Mania. Undertaker on the TitonTron says that there will be a "sacrifice" tonight to send a message to Randy Orton. All throughout the night during the matches, there's bits and pieces of thunder and lightning as the "threat" of the Undertaker loomed. Best part of the night. Angle comes out to HBK's music and Sensational Sherri Martel accompanies him. Kurt points out that Sherri was instrumental in Shawn's career early on and even points out that it was Sherri who originally sang his theme song, "Sexy Boy." Kurt says that he can sing it better than HBK. So, they hit the music and Angle and Sherri start singing "Sexy Boy." Angle even dances and poses like HBK. Totally hilarious!!!!! HBK shows up on the Titantron and then rolls out a video montage of HBK's career. At the end Sherri is shown looking "emotional" as if to say, "that's my boy." Angle throws her down and slaps on the ankle lock. Note: Sherri's not looking too good these days, but all the fans at the arena got a nice "nip shot" as she was being carried out after the segment. During breaks they're airing the WrestleMania Trailers. It goes over big with the crowd. Dawn Marie beat Mc??. Too quick and not enough "skin" for the Memphis folks. Completely pointless match, too. Eddie and Rey talk in the back. Eddie poses a challenge to Rey for a match at Mania. Eddie and Rey defeat Charlie Haas and Hardcore Holly. Afterwards, Rey and Eddie speak in the ring and Rey accepts Eddies challenge at Mania. No heel turn for Eddie. Carlito in the back being interviewed by Funaki. Funaki grabs Carlito's Elvis shades and Carlito break the guitar over Funaki's head. My only question is this: Where's The Honky Tonk Man when you really need him? Booker T. vs. Rene Dupree. In the middle of the match, the lights go out, smoke emits from the ring. Lights come back on and Taker shows up behind Dupree. Taker choke slams Dupree and then piledrives Dupree on the stairs. (NOTE: during the WrestleMania Trailers, taker sneaked out with other ring workers and sneaked into the ring. I noticed it immediately. It was kinda like finding out that there really is no such thing as Santa Claus). Cena and JBL "Debate." Teddy Long mediates. Cena entices JBL to throw a punch (so that way Cena would be "allowed" to punch back). Cena spray paints JBL's limo, pours water in his 10 gallon hat, cuts his tie and tries it on, and ultimately spray paints "FU" on his shirt. Lots of quick-witted comments by Cena. Good mic work. Show ends. After the show, Cena vs. JBL in a non-title match. Match ends with ref bump, chair-shot that backfired on JBL, Cena hits the "FU." Everybody goes home happy. Overall, good show. Pops: Stone Cold Footage HBK on Titantron Cena Taker Heat: JBL Angle Final note: decent size crowd (maybe 8,000 - 10,000). Could have had more fans, but considering we had a tornado warning in effect, not a bad attendance.
