7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER for Dontrelle in Miami.

We could be looking at a complete game shutout. The problem with Willis is that for everyone of these games he'll trot out an 8 ER in 2 and 2/3 performance.

I agree with Treble; those video scoreboards along the wall at SkyDome just look odd. Pretty good start from Arroyo, though it seems like Toronto fans would rather throw paper airplanes around than watch the game.

Atlanta just turned their 11th double play in 3 games (if I'm counting correctly). I'll enjoy the good defense now before they revert to error ball.

2 HR for Cabrera tonight, the 2nd being an upper deck shot. Will go nice with the first complete game shutout in the majors (I think?).

Got a bit dicey at the end, but Cristian Guzman earned his money by grounding into a second double play to complete the CG shutout.

I hate situations like this. The Jays have the winning run at the plate with no outs in the 9th and have already put a run in, but I'm more worried about Foulke's stats for my fantasy team.

Can someone explain this to me?

Situation: Bottom of the eighth, one run lead, bases loaded, two outs, lefty up

Who do you bring in to pitch a.) Billy Wagner or b.) "lefty specialist" Aaron Fultz? If you answered B, you must be Charlie Manuel so please explain that rational.

And another thing, top of the ninth with a righty closer up. He is not willing to play the left-right matchup by pinch hitting Utley for Bell but he is willing to pinch hit Kenny Lofton for Jason Michaels who was having the best day at the plate of anyone?

I am really not encouraged about Manuel so far this year.

Now you know what we dealt with in Cleveland. My condolences.

Don't worry, I had the same torn feelings.

And I know I've said it before, but I really hate the Astros.

and the Mets are 0-4, this is really getting to absurd levels now.  Such is the life of a Met fan

Well, you didn't really think one starter and a centerfielder was going to make things all better, did you?

no, but I never imagined they would be this bad. They have a healthy Reyes, promising young players in Wright and Beltran. Pedro is still an upper tier pitcher They should be better than this.

Like I said at the NMB board last night, the plate discipline on this team is so so poor, and they dont have enough power to compensate. When a pitcher gets hot against the Mets, he STAYS hot, the Mets NEVER make the pitcher work and try to tire him

Thank god RJ pitches tomorrow. This game is like 04 all over again.

Horrible starting pitching, a sucky non Mo/Gordon bullpen, and A-Rod ruining every single rally the Yankees have.

If we can hold Houston this inning we've got Dunn, Randa and LaRue due up again, so it all depends on how the bottom of the 8th goes.

Posted

Look at that play by Randa....so far he's the smartest acquestion the Reds got during the off-season.

Held 'em in the 8th, very well done too, just 1 run, though lets get a few so we can end it.

Useless stats:

Randy Johnson career vs Orioles:

5-7 w/ 4.36 ERA

That 4.36 ERA is his 2nd highest (Atlanta #1 with a 5.03 ERA) vs any single team .

Ah 3-2 loss to the Astros, it's okay though, Clemmens was just on tonight, they didn't squash us though so maybe tomorrow we can take 'em.

where's GeniusMoment to reassure me that we'll take it tomorrow

I can see bringing in Fultz to pitch to Walker. But leaving him in to pitch to Pujols was inexcusable. Tie game, bases loaded, eighth inning, and the second best hitter in baseball at the plate. The Phillies chose to use the worst pitcher in their bullpen. Charlie Manuel has been a joke when it comes to in game management.

An interesting note of managerial idiocy, stolen from a Phillies board, that I did not even realize watching the game:

Think about this guys.

He replaced Burrell with Perez, an IF.

Then he pinch hit for Michaels with Lofton.

That means if Lofton had got a hit, the bottom of the inning would have seen Abreu in RF, Lofton in CF and............... in LF. He had no other OFs since he blew through Burrell and Michaels.

So either Offerman or Perez or even Polanco might have been in RF.

So not only is he braindead in the dugout, he was braindead when he decided to carry only 4 OFs.

So Noah Lowry pitches 6 shutout innings for the Gents tonight, and gives way to the bullpen with two men on, and a six run lead. 3 outs later and it's an 8-6 Rockie lead. Unreal. I'm officially declaring this the WORST BULLPEN EVER~!

I really hope the fans get on Brian Sabean's ass about the bullpen he's put together and the hacks he's got filling in for Alou and Bonds. Hell, for the entire team in general.
