Out of all the pathetic things I've seen from the Yankees, this is number one.

53 fucking pitches, 3/4th of them balls. The guy had nothing left, and we don't score a fucking run.

Credit to Foulke, but jesus christ.

Pathetic.

One.

The tying hit against the Twins. But him blowing every other oppertunity he gets defintley overshadows that. His swing is just so SLOW now, its really sad.

8-6 Cleveland win. The White Sox played terrible defense (Carl Everett looked uncoordinated in LF when he hurt himself) and Cleveland capitalized with key hits at key times. Chicago had poor timing for their hits; most of the offense for the Sox started with two outs. Alex Cora played very well defensively for the Indians.

Jeter shows leadership by pushing the kid in front of the truck.

Oh great...

Jeter: Here's the plan... I pay a kid to run across a busy street, and you save him. That way, you'll become a hero to the Yankee community.

A-Rod: In Boston?

Jeter: ...

The important thing is A-Rod didn't go for the kid and bounce him off his leg into the path of a subway train.

See? His glove work is coming back around!

Also, since the Yankees and Orioles lost....man, that's how I know it's early season baseball. The Orioles getting mentioned in the same sentence as the Yankees meaning an O's loss actually meant something. It would be nice to see that late in the season, I'd love every second of it.

Alright, now where is everything that was so bloody convinced that Sheets would be a Sock or Yankee by the trading deadline?

The Braves called up John Foster from Richmond. Since Foster was with Richmond when they played here Monday-Thursday and the Braves are in Philly tonight, it turns out to be an easy trip for him.

Yeah, exactly. Screw you ESPN! Screw you, Red Sox and Yankees! Ben Sheets is one of the best pitchers in MLB, and he's playing for the Brewers through 2008! Take that and eat it!

I told you guys, the Brewers this year aren't the same Brewers as last year. New ownership makes a pretty damn big difference, as has been proven.

Why in the world is Jose Hernandez batting third against Johan Santana?

Perhaps because Hernandez has a career .818 OPS against left handed hitters, including a .310/.383/.627 line last season.

Yeah, well...he struck out with a runner in scoring position. So there!

Speaking of choking with RISP, the Cubs loaded the bases with one out for Ramirez and Lee. Ramirez K'd after getting a 3-1 count, and Lee grounded out. I'm trying to tell myself it's fine since it is Oliver Perez, but they should've been able to squeeze one out that situation.

Fun INsider column from some asshat named Gary Gillette, suggesting Derek Jeter is the today's closest comparison to Jackie Robinson...

If any player today should wear Jackie Robinson's No. 42, it is Derek Jeter.

Also in the article, somehow Jeter being 6'3" and Robinson being 5'11" is a point in favor of their comparison. Now, Jeter and Robinson have very similar career batting statistics. In fact, Jeter's top comp is Jackie. But Jackie Robinson's closest comparison is a hitter slightly further under the radar, Edgardo Alfonzo. Then you hit Jeff Cirillo and Ray Durham, and then Jeter.

There is some truth to this, of course. Both were comparible as hitters. Both are excellent basestealers. Jeter is one of the best at taking third, while Jackie was the master of stealing home. Of course, this exercise misses one important thing. Jeter couldn't pick up a bundle of $100s rolled two feet to his left. Jackie Robinson was one of the greatest defensive players in baseball history.
