Guest Lord David

LD's 140lbs... as I AM Lord David, quite literally. As such, as I'm 140lbs, so's the character, heh.

As for the pumphandle move... it's simple really, just like most suplexes, the opponent does some of the work, so basically, I bend my knees slightly (Allowing the opponent to do the same) and then I "kick off" as does the opponent, it just looks like I'm lifting them over. Works a treat :D.

Word Up was also originally sung by Cameo, Gun did a cover that seriously rocks (I'll try and upload it so it can be linked on the profiles page).

And dun tell the number 1 fed owner on X-net how to write :P.

Nah seriously, thanks for the props, and funnily enough, that match needed nothing removing nor fluffing, I sorta got lucky, if I remember rightly it was 2997 words.

Anyways, t'was my first match here, just hope that I win the future ones, despite the jobber jokes I always throw at myself, I still aim to win, ya know ;). I'll have a full read through the show later anyways (Mainly 'cause I'm a lazy git), so that I know the sort of stuff that you look for here, and keep working at it.

Damn, I was a couple hours late on the old skool SWF love. But I feel like participating anyways, so here we go:

- Remember Jeremy Miller? Or Snow Demon? Or Vanilla Milla? How the FUCK did MVS ever take over this thing?

- Jeremy Miller was part of the greatest stable of all-time, the Alley. I'd like to point out that however bad the Alley was (and let's face it, Iceman and Jace and the others were horrendous), it produced me and Mike Van Siclen. That is why the Alley pwns you all.

- Random people of varying talents: K-Os, Tiger Manix, SoS, Venom, Chris Storm, Shinji, and Jack the Ripper.

That is all.

OK. Then don't complain when you lose to actual competition because you haven't taken our advice. You're not in Kansas anymore, Toto.

Because he didn't know any other arena.

And on that subject, what the hell does "Somewhere east of Texas" mean? Toxxic's from there, too. Hell, California is east of Texas if you go east enough.

Remember Damien Diablo? He was a slightly better Iceman, I think. Then he was the Messiah and killed Fallout's dog, which before that was his sister, but it was edited to say 'dog', but her dialogue was still kept in.

And that's why Fallout's record reign should never be broken. A guy killed his sister-dog thing person.

I just finished reading the Smarkdown card thread. I have a lot of things to say...

Johnny, this is for fun. What the hell is with this temper tantrum? Do you not understand why people here don't like you? You take all the fun out of it by bitching. Who cares if you Main Event Battleground (or G5...) and if you are world champion or not? The whole point of this fed is to have fun. I am not main eventing Battleground. I'm not getting a world title shot. Hell, I'm most likely going to be slaughtered by ???. But in the past few weeks, I actually had FUN writing. It's been the first time in a long time. It was fun coming up with a storyline to add more prestige to the number one contendership. I suggested the feud with Mak, presented it to Toxx/Flesher/Mike; we bounced ideas off each other. I was able to work with talented writers and people with great minds for wrestling. And it was FUN!

The worst part about it is that I wasn't able to finish my 2/3 falls match. I had many ideas and I was into the second fall when I realized it was all coming together and I actually had a shot at pulling out a fantastic match to end what I think was an interesting feud. But time restraints and my birthday stopped me from finishing it.

BTW, I'd like to apologize to Flesher. He supported me through this whole thing and gave me ideas and helped me when I asked for it. He's been behind me getting a push up the card for a while now. I figured this feud would help prove it to OTHER people, but I guess that didn't work out.

I must admit, I am kind of upset that the Mak/Spike feud didn't get as much attention as I was hoping for. Sure, we main evented a bunch of shows. But we didn't get YOUR attention. The readers and writers of the SWF. That was one of the purposes behind it. I wanted to have an old school SWF type feud with someone I consider a good friend that I've known for what...3-4 years, that actually brought the readers into it and made them care. Edwin/Silent, this was not. But I wanted something like that. Something that actually came close. But after every show that Mak or I (and Toxx) wrote for, it seemed nobody cared. This feud had everything a feud should have. Two characters that are very different in attributes and characteristics that people care about, a purpose, psychology in the promos and matches, character development, an evil force behind the whole thing, and a blow off that settled things. And yet, we didn't get any comments other than WC for the blow off and Drea talking about pie. That made me really upset.

I know I haven't been the poster-child for being consistent. But seriously folks. I've no-showed what? 10 matches at most since my return? That's been what? 6-7 months? And yet, all I see in the prediction threads are "If Spike shows...” "DNS", "If either one of them show...", "He'll write a 500 word squash match...". Does anybody pay attention to the fed anymore?

This is for fun. If you aren't having fun, leave. Trust me, I'm considering it now. Why would you bitch for something that is suppose to be fun? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway, I'd just like to thank Mak. I consider him a good friend that had taken me under his wing several years ago and taught me many things. He is a talented writer and the fact that he went with an idea I came up with means a lot to me. I had a lot of fun working with you and hopefully, we can work do some more stuff together in the future. That is if I stay after Battleground.

The problem, Spike...is that in matches you lose, people will just think you no showed, considering the no showing that has gone on across the fed in recent years. Reputations die hard.

Ugh. Sorry it's so late. Tonight and last night were pretty... well, interesting. Anyways, congrats to the winners. I'll post some comments soon.

Spike, don't get mad at me for pointing out whats obvious. As far as your feud goes I didn't really like it that much because it seemed like you killed the momentum that you were building with Spike/Toxxic - which was more interesting to me than Mak/Spike. At this stage of a face turn you really needed to work a feud against a dreaded heel like Toxxic then afterwards do the Mak/Spike deal. In that order I think it would have come off much, much better.

I would have much rather just seen Spike/Toxxic with no contendership match for Battleground. Like I said, it was good when you started; the student going up against the teacher like Mak/Flesher for the ICTV Title back in the day. What we have now is what killed it.

My eye is on this thread. If you can keep the discourse civil, it'll be okay.

But, in all seriousness, you guys need to talk to CC about problems rather than just posting shit on the board for imaginary wrestling cock-mearsuring contests. Please, talk to us, we will work things out. I swear.

I'm going to personally do my part to provide more direct feedback, even though I've said before that I prefer to do the HOLT than to post in the comments thread; I realized that the HOLT rarely covers actual feedback, and that sometimes I leave matches out. I don't know anybody in the fed that doesn't like to have their stuff read by other people, so I'll try to give feedback whenever I can.

I think that one of the things that has hurt feedback in recent months has been the retirement/disappearance of several noteable critiquers, like Dace and Danny: you can say whatever you want about them taking their characters or the fed too seriously, but those guys took an interest in everybody's stuff; they'd read everything, and they'd comment, good, bad or indifferent. What we tend to have now is a lot of guys who don't pay much attention to anything outside of their own character and, occasionally, the main event. I've been guilty of this practice myself, and it can sometimes take a conscious effort to change that (as it is for me right now), but I'm trying, so if it takes me a while to comment on somebody's stuff, I ask that you all bear with me.

It's a shame that some of us can't get along for whatever reason because, when you get down to it, we're all just here to write, and have fun. One problem, however, is that there isn't any universal sense of fun: what's fun for Grappler or IL and Drea isn't necessarily fun for guys like me and Johnny... for example, I could never pull off a character like Li'l Buck, or Masked Man, or Petey; I'd lose interest before I finished writing my first match.

About my constant bitching about jokes/sitcoms in promo threads and whatnot; it's not out of malice, or trying to take away someone else's fun, or any kind of need to put myself over. It's just that, if I write something serious, I like for the people reading it to take it serious. I mean, it's one thing if you post a light-hearted promo, and people start joking around, but when you're trying to do legit character development and people start joking around, it's like they're not taking your work seriously. It goes back to wanting other people to read your work; you don't want them to gaff it off, either. I was seriously bent out of shape over those "Parting" promos that I wrote, simply because that series was the hardest and most thought-out thing I've ever written for this fed; I put more effort into it than any match I've ever written, and it seemed like, after the initial positive response to the first part, the rest of it was summarily shit on. Each part took me a week or more to write, and it seemed as if most of the feedback were lame gay sex jokes; after working that hard, and getting that kind of response, I felt like, "what the hell am I wasting my energy for, anyway?" Frankly, I would have rather I didn't get any feedback at all than have a bunch of people making gay jokes about WC's relationship with Johnny.

Anyway, I didn't mean to spend so much time on my soapbox; sorry if this comes off as too preachy.

I'm not sure how you can say that we "went through the motions" or wrote a "W&D match," seeing as how we bascially wrote ourselves to be heels, which we've never done before. Between that and the fact that we provided charcter development by advancing the Johnny situation, I really don't know where you're getting that from. I'll grant that what we wrote wasn't perfect, and was far from our best work, but it was hardly the "same old W&D."

Guess I ought to clear this up.

I didn't say you did go through the motions WC, what I said was you could. I've only skimmed through the match so I don't know how good it is or isn't, really. But for you and Johnny, writing a tag match is easier than it is for anyone else in the fed, to the point that it comes as naturally as singles matches. God knows how many times you and Johnny have wrote tag matches. This was the second time me and Zack wrote a match together...in the SWF at least. As for the 'W&D Match' comment...that wasn't meant as a knock on you. I's like I said above...it all comes naturally to you. If you were stuck for ideas or didn't have a lot of time to put a plan together, it's not as much of a problem as it would be for other teams.

Anyway, no offense meant on my part. Although, I'm not ecstatic you won or anything. But Raynor's given me feedback which I appreciate, so we know where we went wrong. Hopefully we can get a rematch soon and things might be different. :D

Fair enough; and I wouldn't expect you to be happy about us winning... hell, who likes to lose, right? It just strikes me as funny the way some people's posts have come across at times like they think that Johnny and I are the beneficiaries of favoritism, when I sometimes get the sense that we may be the two most-disliked guys in the whole fed.

Johnny, Spike isn't a face....he is a tweener. He is still a little asshole...just a lone wolf. He's out to beat anyone and everyone, face or heel.

And I felt that considering people still consider me a constant no-shower, that I'd have to do a small program with a big name in the fed and go over, thus making it seem that Spike actually DESERVES the title shot.

Revise history much?

I had exactly two comments on the match where we lost the tag titles: 1) I didn't like the way you had the champions coming out first, and 2) I don't think that you should have had Riley rooting for W&D. I was much more upset about what ended up happening with the Cruiserweight promo I wrote for that show.

But nice attempt to portray me as being bitter about losing over a year after the fact. And by "nice attempt," I mean "lame."

Dicks away, boys.

On edit, Janus, put your dick away. WC, you do NOT have to defend your honor every time someone snipes at you.

Why did I make such a great career without ever feeling the need to defend my honor at every turn? Seriously, a joke is a joke. Sometimes you get burned, you need not go on rants about anything and everything. We are passing 'ludacris' right here and getting into blantantly stupid territory.

Please, stop. No more online penis measuring.

Judge, I thought I'd already answered that question; it doesn't have anything to do wanting to engage in a pissing contest; it has to do with me being a sensitive old fart, relatively speaking. Besides which, outside of this fed, I generally only interact with people whose idea of humor isn't to "burn" each other (read: other old people), so I'm genuinely not used to it; I guess I'm just responding as comes naturally to me... but I will make the conscious effort to do otherwise.
