CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Kill Bill(Volumes 1 and 2). I loved them, but all my friends, and most people I know REALLY dislike this movie. Really? I loved it. Why compare movies to previous works? Gotta be open minded towards every movie. Just because it's not as good as Pulp Fiction or Resevoir Dogs(but what is?), does that make Kill Bill bad? No. With that in mind: Robin Hood: Men in Tights Had some scenes that were genuinely funny, and some that you just couldn't help but laugh. I can't even get people to watch "Best in Show" because no matter how funny I tell them the flick is, they see the cover and say "umm it's about a dog show, dude" Surpisingly funny. I also liked that the Canadian actors were a couple(O'Hara and Levy) Good Burger and Strange Brew? Good for a laugh but not great movies. Certainly watchable. On the other side of this is Deuce Bigalow, which was funny, but also a legit good movie. As for Ready to Rumble? I seem to be on the opposite. I hate it but everyone loves it, as far as I see. And the topic? Christmas Story. Hands down.

Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 I gotta add "Canadian Bacon". Sure, its directed by Michael Moore, but I still think it's hilarious. Also, "Event Horizon". Everyone keeps mentioning the Mortal Kombat movie (which I hated), so I'm going on the limb to say this is a better film from the same director. Also, the scene with the massacre coaught on film=creepy as hell.

razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Ready to Rumble, the only good David Arquette film................................................................................. ................C'mon, Ready to Rumble?! At least gimmie an Eight-Legged Freaks or something. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is another movie I enjoy that features Arquette. How can you not enjoy for the greatness that is the movie Ready 2 Rumble? It shows the extremes from both sides of the business! You got the insane #1 fans doing everything they can to help the hero and you got the backstage political backstabbing from the GM and the workers. Its the best workshoot movie ever! Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Oh, and lovecraft, I'm with you on the House on Haunted Hill remake. That's a pretty decent modern horror flick. House on Haunted Hill, is really ace apart from the shitty music they use as background halfway through that sounds like a shitty made for tv 80's thing, and the super shitty cgi monster thing at the end.... Interesting fact: In one of the original script drafts, the CGI ghost thingy that appears nearing the end was originally suspossed to posses all the people who had died in the house, turning them into murderous zombies. Unfortunately, the studio nixed the idea, feeling it felt too much like Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video. Gotta love studio logic. Fortunately, in the deleted scenes on the DVD, there's a brief bit with zombies, but it's too bad that it's short, and not what was originally intended for the film. At least that was a wrestling movie that exposed the business. Though it was dumb that a promoter would agree to let his top guy have a shoot match with a fired wrestler. and I loved Vegas Vacation but evryone hate sit
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Freaked: Randy Quaid as a deranged side show freak creator with Bobcat Goldwait as the voice of a man with a sock puppet for a head. That is a great movie. I could watch it all day if I actually had the damn thing. And I just checked, to be released on DVD on July 12! YESSSSS!

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Enough The realistic version of the movie is she goes through all the training and blah blah while the husband just sits on his ass and gets fatter (they video montauge the whole thing)...then the movie ends with her going to kick his ass but him just smacking her around and ordering her to make dinner. I know domestic abuse isn't funny...but when it's a Jennifer Lopez movie it's a little funny.

On the other side of this is Deuce Bigalow, which was funny, but also a legit good movie. See, I do think that Strange Brew is a great movie. I could watch it twice a week and still laugh every time. But the fact that you called Deuce Bigelow a legit good movie indicates to me that you and I have VERY different tastes in movies. Canadian Guitarist, everyone loves Christmas Story. Sorry, Paragon, I don't. I didn't like it much when I was forced to watch it in elementary school and it just gets worse each time I watch part of it each year at Christmas time. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 When I worked at a vidoe store, customers asked if Eyes Wide Shut was any good. The first four of five times I said yes. But after they all came back saying they hated it, I started to tell people not to rent it since it seemed I was the only one who liked it. Same thing happened with me when I worked at a video store when Punch-Drunk Love was released on home video. No one I know enjoys Manos: The Hands of Fate. And A Christmas Story is awesome, but I can only watch it once a year.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 First thought that came to mind: Although I didn't really "like" the '98 Godzilla, I don't cry foul over the makeover. Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted April 22, 2005 Ready to Rumble, the only good David Arquette film. Die. C'mon, Ready to Rumble?! At least gimmie an Eight-Legged Freaks or something. In my opinion, Scream was a lot better than both of those two movies. I'm with you on Jersey Girl. I really liked the movie although I know a few who either didn't like it or had no intentions of seeing it. When I went to Vulgarthon this year in LA, Kevin Smith played the directors cut of Jersey Girl which was OVER 2 hours and man I'm glad he cut it down to the version that was in the theatres. It has almost an hour of Jennifer in it before she dies. How was Vulgarthon? I wanted to go, but the combination of living on the East Coast and finishing up my last semester of college killed any possibility of that happening. The director's cut interests me, so I'll definitely pick it up if it's released on DVD. A lot of people don't seem to like the Star Wars prequels, but I like them. Palpatine's rise to power, the lightsaber battles, the pod race in Episode I, and the battle at Genosis in Episode II make the prequels worthwhile.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2005 In my opinion, Scream was a lot better than both of those two movies. More of a movie with David Arquette than a David Arquette movie. Best movie with Arquette: Ravenous. That's actually one for this thread, too. Fun movie.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2005 Well when I said everyone I didn't really mean everyone, though it's a popular movie that most seem to like, or at the very least don't hate. I don't know if anyone hates it or not, but I've never seen School Ties get any love. A similar story in a similar setting released at around the same time, Dead Poets Society, gets lots of play in Gr.9 English classrooms. Speaking of Brendan Fraser, I liked Blast From The Past as well.
