Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2005 That was taken from a really bad angle. It makes him look like Jason Schwartzman.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2005 http://www.brandonrouth.com/ Somehow they managed to make the costume even gayer.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2005 The "S" Shield is cool, at least.

eiker_ir 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2005 the shield looks cool, but i would have liked it to be a little bigger, and the belt buckle looks better than i expected but i still would go without it. Pretty decent i guess

Ced 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2005 It seems Superman gets his apparel from Under Armour and that the S Shield is only there to hide the logo.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2005 Couldn't they have just re-created the Christopher Reeve style one? From the few pictures I've seen they're going for that early 80s vibe like the original films, so why not just go all out?

Guest JMA Report post Posted April 24, 2005 I might be the only one who likes it. I don't mind it. It kind of has a George Reeves/AOS type of feel to it. From what I've seen so far, Superman fans seem to be divided over it.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 24, 2005 I like the original the best. I really don't see the need to darken or "modernize" Superman's costume. He's an alien from outer space that flies around wearing a cape, so I have no problem with him wearing bright colors.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2005 The costume IMO, sucks. Even the Dean Cain version in that pic, with that retarded looking S looks better. There's just way to much blue, if you get what I mean. (because yea..I know the whole costume is blue really) But in the stomach region. I don't know if its because of the guys' height or because in comparison that S is so small, But the guy's stomach region is way to long. And how come the pants look like...wrestling tights, rather then underwear like most Superman costumes do. So yea, I don't like it. But I'm sure in action it'll probaly look better, and it won't really determine how good the movie is.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2005 I'm not feeling the low-riding banana-huggers either. And maroon/magenta instead of red? What's with that blue? It looks like it was painted onto his body rather than it being a costume. Cain's screams "overcompensating." This one seems "eh, I'm super, but I'm not making *that* big of a deal about it." Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 25, 2005 I might be the only one who likes it. I don't mind it. I also have no problem with it. I would've liked a slightly larger shield and a slightly lighter shade of red, but it's not too bad as is.
JMFabiano524 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 I said this on the DVDVR boards too...are you really surprised that the costume is darker? This IS Bryan "Bright yellow spandex is not realistic" Singer we're talking about, after all. So I guess we should be lucky for anything resembling color (Supes in black X-Leather...shivers...) I guess the small logo makes it less credible too. But.... I disagree with people judging the movie based on this one still shot of the costume. It's getting right up there with... WTF ORGANIC WEB-SH00TERS FUKK U RAIMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111 WOLVERINES NOT SUPPPOSED 2B OVER 6 FEET TALL THIS MOVIE WILL BE TEH SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111 And of course..... OMG HALLES B00BZ! BEST CATWOMAN EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111one * * - Though not as unintelligible, TV Guide really said words to this effect, IIRC, when pitting CINO against the likes of Julie, Michelle, et al. And you can add to this the idea of comedian Michael Keaton as Batman (just being 1989, not many people had the internet to purposely misspell words to be cool). Anyway, point is, when in action, I think all of the above were mostly contrary to the snap judgments (well, in the case of Keaton, he did OK as an imperfect, reimagined version of Bats that hasn't aged well, especially when I have become a bigger fan of the comics and TAS versions) Basically, I won't join in on the Superman Returns bashing, not at all. I remain optimistic, as I'm just happy that we'll get this over the EXTREEEEEEEEME, edgy, character-raping, continuity-mangling, trendy-A-list-actor/actress-casting pile of dung we were threatened with before. Then again you may say this is like the Batman Begins argument ("It HAS to be good, it > Shitmacher!" BB does look and sound good though) so guess what? We gotta see it to know for sure!!! Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 Put me down as another not digging the darker shade of red and the small shield. Not liking the shorter boots either, but in the end the suit really won't be that important. I was more disappointed in the new Batman costume.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 All you people complaining about the smaller shield... Are you forgetting how small the Superman shield was when Superman was first created. http://www.supermanhomepage.com I'm sure you can find images of what I mean in here. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 25, 2005 I'm not really complaining about the shield, I just think it would look better slightly larger.
JMFabiano524 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 I was more disappointed in the new Batman costume. Eh, the Batsuit agrees with me, the more I see it. It kind of reminds me of what Bats wore in Kingdom Come. And hey, no nipples! :-) J. <-- tires of the SHURT NOT PLASTIKK Batsuit debates
