Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2005 Grievous 'collects' the lightsabers of the fallen Jedi he has slaughtered as symbols of his victory. He does not, in any way, use the Force though. However, he is one bad ass lightsaber fighter with, like I said before, four arms to weild sabers in.

LessonInMachismo 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2005 I will wait a few weeks to see it, just to avoid the annoying liberals who seem to flock to events such as Star Wars movie debuts... What does political affiliation have anything to do with it? It's not like people are going to be starting partisan debates in their stormtrooper uniforms. Besides, don't you live in Northern California? You'd pretty much have to deal with mostly liberals anywhere you go, it'd seem... No, I moved to northwest Arkansas almost seven years ago, and it's more liberal than where I lived in California. The bay area = liberal. The valley and farmlands in Cali = conservative. California is not the liberal bastion that some think it is. Check out a county breakdown of the 2004 elections. And I was just joking...some of my best friends are lib whackjobs. The real reason I will wait is because I am in no rush to see it after being turned off by the prior two prequel movies. It'll be there in a week or two. Some of these people act like it's a "one day only" thing. Plus, it'll give me time to finish the novelization, which thus far I've only been reading on the shitter. Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2005 Grievous 'collects' the lightsabers of the fallen Jedi he has slaughtered as symbols of his victory. That first Jedi must have been pretty sad, then, to lose with the Force and everything else on his side.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2005 I called 610 WIP Sports Talk in philly this afternoon, and they were asking Star Wars trivia. Got the questions right and the producer guy told me to call in tomorrow for some Star Wars contest. Hmmm... TOMORROW NIGHT WOOHOO!!!

Oh, I'm quite aware of how the politics in California break down, considering I grew up and lived in the suburbs of L.A. most of my life. The more expensive neighborhood I lived a long time in (Santa Clarita/Valencia.. most people will know it as where Six Flags Magic Mountain is) was strongly conservative; in fact my best friend and I were probably the only liberals out of the whole group. Everyone else I knew just went along with the conservative ideals/thoughts their parents told them, but really weren't as passionate with it as my best friend and I were. OK, that's enough going off-topic. I'm going tommorrow night to see it, although I don't know how far in advance I should be in line. I get off work at 9:30, and am probably bringing a couple mags with me to keep me busy for the time I'll be waiting in line. When I went to go see Spider-Man 2, I got there 40 minutes or so before showtime and I wasn't that far back in line, but this could be a lot worse.
LessonInMachismo 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 Besides, I have to work at least until Saturday. I go in at 14:30, so there is no way I can see it. Sunday would be the earliest, unless they add it to the schedule and I have to work. Whatever. I am reading the book.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 Let's see...where else to go... Oh, I know. Trippiest moments in Star Wars. For me...the transition in Episode 1 from the somber funeral for Qui Gon Jin to, as I like to put it...SUPER HAPPY FUNTIME VICTORY CELLEBRATION WAI!

spman 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 I saw Episode 3 in the wee hours of this morning, and it definitly lives up to the hype. The dialouge was still corny as hell, but the action and storytelling were top notch, this one is totally up there with Empire. Im sure most of you guys don't want spoilers before it opens tomorrow night, but if you guys have any questions, I'll try and answer them as best I can without spoiling anything. Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 If lightsabers are weapons of the Jedi, who are attuned to the Force, then how is a droid using lightsabers? Is it using the Force as well? What is going on here? I'm under the impression that anyone can use a lightsaber. If you're not Jedi/Sith, then you won't be very skilled in doing so, but it won't prevent you from using one. Tawren 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 Despite the fact I am thinking this movie will be a huge letdown, I'm going to hope it will live up to the hype and reviews and I am heading to a midnight showing tomorrow with some friends. PLEASE be good.
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 If lightsabers are weapons of the Jedi, who are attuned to the Force, then how is a droid using lightsabers? Is it using the Force as well? What is going on here? I'm under the impression that anyone can use a lightsaber. If you're not Jedi/Sith, then you won't be very skilled in doing so, but it won't prevent you from using one. Just to toss it out: On that thing someone posted a few pages back about how Lightsabers work, it says that in order to properly construct a lightsaber, you have to arrange some crystals in a very specific way; if you fuck it up, then your lightsaber will explode and kill you as soon as you turn it on. The only way to properly place the crystals is to have some mastery over the Force, so it can guide you to putting them in the right place, or something. So, while anyone could use a lightsaber (though they probably wouldn't want to; your average person isn't quick enough to use one to deflect blaster shots) only a Jedi/Sith can actually BUILD one. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 Well, my friend Chris called today and told me some dude he knows got a couple of tix...at Stonybrook. I figured as much. He also said that he was probably going to see it AGAIN on Thursday, maybe I'll go then. At the latest I'll go see it this weekend at the actual good theater, the Showcase Deluxe 16. spman 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 I dunno if it's true for every theater, but the twelveplex where I work is running six screens of the film, so getting tickets won't be a problem at all, even the midnight shows, we have two theaters sold out, but there's still plenty of seats available for anyone that wants to come see. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 I FINALLY got to borrow the OT DVDs from a friend, and the sound guy is the most boring person who has ever lived. I could listen to Lucas talk about OT stuff forever though. All I've ever heard until recently was PT interviews and stuff, with the exceptions of the interview scraps on the OT Special Edition VHS tapes.
