NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 My theater was crazy, we had at least 10 storm troopers and 3 clone troopers, and someone in the full darth vader get up, complete with the FX light sabre. We also had some local media, and a radio station raffling off a bunch of prizes~! Oh yeah, the movie kicked ass......too tired for a big review.

Guest Flyboy Report post Posted May 19, 2005 Who is "Owen"? Go watch Episode II. Owen is the son of the guy (can't remember his name... I wanna say something beginning with a "C") that Shmi Skywalker remarried with. He also becomes the uncle of Luke in ANH.

ragingfear79 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 Absolutely loved it, It was so crazy in my theater. We had a full on show with about 10 stormtrooper, Boba Fett (kick ass costume) two royal guards (again they went all out) a clone tropper, 2 or 3 fighter pilots the emperor and one of the most realistic Vaders outside the movie i have ever seen. the guys where from the 501st legion down in Miami. Also I have to give props to my girl. Lets just say she doesnt like Star Wars very much and she took almost 5 hours of it, from the standing in line and dealing with all the kids to watching the movie and not complaining one bit. I love that girl she so is the one is not even funny. Anyways like som1 said before Lucas Redeemed himself has, a great movie this is.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 I haven't watched the OT in years. How does Vader discover that Luke is, indeed, his son? The Emperor tells him during the hologram scene in "The Empire Strikes Back" (DVD edition). The scene was revised for the DVD release to include the man who plays the Emperor in the prequels and "Return of the Jedi", and includes new dialogue in which the Emperor reveals that Luke is Anakin's son, to which Vader reples "How is this possible"? Vader obviously knows the kid who blew up the Death Star is Skywalker because earlier he in the film he mentions Skywalker by name.

Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 so the movie is good because of the action sequences...okay figured that much...how is the actual PLOT...how is the acting...same as the first two episodes (McGregor, McDiarmid, and Lee are the only good actors)? The plot is good, I just thought it moved to fast. there was a ton of exposition in the novelization that didn't make it into the movie, which is a shame because some of it would have assured that this was the best movie of the year. Also, a few subplots were cut that I hope make it back in for the DVD. I thought it was a great movie overall, though I thought the whole Kashyyk thing was somewhat useless and could have been cut entirely in favor of fleshing out Anakin's decent somewhat. One thing- was it just my theater, or did the Emperor's voice constantly change pitch and tone after he was deformed? It was bloody annoying.

pochorenella 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 Goodie. Thanks, K. I don't want to sound too nerdish, but I have a question for the SW geeks here: I have tickets for tomorrow since two weeks ago, but I recently came across a single ticket for TODAY. Problem is I already commited to a date with a hot girl and I can't do both things. WHAT WOULD THE STAR WARS GEEKS DO IN MY PLACE?? Just curious on anybody else's answer, I'm pretty much set on going with this girl.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 well, since i do not have a date with a hot girl, and i am jealous and wish to rob you of your hotness, i say go see star wars. (no really, you should go with the hot chick and watch SW tomorrow since you already have tix for tomorrow).

Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 I saw the midnight showing last night, after swearing I wasn't getting duped into it a third time. This time, though, I didn't buy any tickets, but lucked into one when someone had to back out and couldn't make it. I also won a Batman Begins poster during the trivia contest the theatre held before the movie started. It's definitely the best of the prequels, but there are some fundamental flaws in it, and I don't think Lucas redeemed himself at all. It's entertaining, though, and felt more like a Star Wars movie than the first two. I'm thinking 7/10.
Guest thebigjig Report post Posted May 19, 2005 I cannot describe in mere words how much I HATE the Star Wars geeks that dress up in their ridiculous costumes and cram the theater three hours before the movies begins, forcing me to do the same just to get a fucking seat... I almost got decked last night after calling some fat bastard in a Sith costume Darth Body-Odor and his friend Obi Wan Virginobi Oh, and the movie was great. ***** from me let me make it clear: I love the movies... and hate the nerds. Guest Fook Report post Posted May 19, 2005 I liked the movie, but it seems like it's one of those things that won't hold up in the long run. I'd say it was the best of the prequels, but behind the original trilogy. Some comments: I was upset at Jar Jar not dying. How hard would it have been to have Palpatine just fry him with lightning? Vader's big "NOOOOOO!" seemed pretty forced and got me to laugh more than anything else. You can tell Lucas used the last few minutes to account for loose ends. There was 3PO's mind wipe (although it seems R2 still knows everything), the "becoming one with the force" deal with Yoda and Obi-Wan, and the addressing why there are no battle droids in the later movies. Was there really any need for Chewy to be in it? I would have actually preferred if it wasn't him. I loved the parallels between the Dooku/Anakin fight and the Luke/Vader fight in Jedi, but I didn't like them killing off Dooku ten minutes into the movie. They should have had that fight later. ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 There was 3PO's mind wipe (although it seems R2 still knows everything), Of course he knows everything. That was obvious to me ever since Ep I came out. After all, how else would he know about Obi-Wan but 3PO didn't. As well as the fact 3PO didn't recognize his birth planet or former home, and yet R2 seemed to know where some settlements were (Maybe he was going to Mos Espa?) Oh, and R2 had some fun moments in the early parts of the movie, IMO.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 Some comments: Vader's big "NOOOOOO!" seemed pretty forced and got me to laugh more than anything else. Yeah, I thought the same thing regarding Doc Oc doing it in Spider-Man 2.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 I saw it. First let me say that I didn't have the problem the ENTIRE REST OF THE WORLD had with EP I and EP II. I actually enjoyed both movies. Anyways this was awesome. I want to see it again. Oh man. There was nobody dressed up at my theater and they'd already let everyone into the theater when I showed up and my friends had seats reserved. I had to wait 35 minutes for popcorn that ended up making me sick anyways. They had a 3 AM showing at my theater also though.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 If you can look past the flaws at the bigger picture, more power to you. I thought the plot of the second film was good, but didn't like the way it was executed. In Phantom Menace, I get bored from the flight from Naboo until the pod race. Neither movie was so bad I couldn't watch them a few more times, though. So, did Qui Gon make it into the movie? It'd be kind of stupid not include him after we heard his voice in Ep. 2 and the fact that it needed to explain how Yoda and Obi-Wan learned that skill. I read some reports that he wasn't. Boon 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 So, did Qui Gon make it into the movie? It'd be kind of stupid not include him after we heard his voice in Ep. 2 and the fact that it needed to explain how Yoda and Obi-Wan learned that skill. I read some reports that he wasn't. At the end, Yoda told Obi-Wan that during Obi-Wan's time watching over Luke, he had new training for him. He told him that would teach Obi-Wan to communicate with Qui-Gon who had made contact and become one with the living force. So they made reference to him, but he was never actually in it. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 I didn't end up going to the midnight showing since my friend Ian had to work this morning at like 6am and I didn't want to go alone. I'll either see it on Friday if my brother comes over or wait till the weekend when we can all go see it (parents, bro, me). As far as what has been posted: That sucks about Dooku. I thought he would be about the 2nd main heel in the film behind the Emperor. This guy just wasted both Obi Wan and Anakin in the last movie and now goes out like a chump 15m in? Poor Christopher Lee, he gets killed in both part 3s he's been in lately, and wasn't actually IN the ROTK theater version. As far as Jar Jar goes, I was hoping he'd get wasted here as well but then thought of the tone problems it might cause. If I'm Lucas I would have had it happen, but wouldn't have given it any particular tone. As in not sad and weepy, but not a riotously funny scene either. Just have Anakin or the Emperor kill his ass and let the crowd react as they may. Besides, storywise there was no reason for him to die....he was Palpatine's Uncle Tom, he gave him emergency powers in the Senate, there was no order to kill Senators, so there was no legit plot reason for Jar Jar to die, as much as people want to see it. SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2005 Didn't Jar Jar have a cameo in the ROTJ DVD? I thought it was him yelling "Weesa free!" Thanks Boon. I'm disappointed to hear that. I liked QuiGon.
