Chronicles of Narnia Trailer

Recommended Posts

I remember this weird cartoon adaptation I watched in 3rd grade.

What IS Turkish Delight, anyway?

EDIT: Upon research, it is a confection of sugar, gelatin, and hashish. Oh you sly one, C.S.!

EDIT 2: Upon further research, I got that from a page that describes C.S. Lewis as an instrument of Satan and said he, Aldous Huxley, and JFK all went to hell. Hmph.

Oh, man...I was tricked into doing some hashish once. It fucked me up.

These days Turkish Delight is just the first two ingrediants and I'm guessing the more innocent version was intended in Narnia. It's just a posh sweet basically, often flavoured with rose or lemon. You can buy it plenty in shops in england and it was more popular 50 - 100 years ago.

But the White Witch used that to control Edmund, so it must have had magic powers. Hash powers.

They have the look of the winter environment DOWN, it was what I imagined as I was reading the book as a kid. However, the wardrobe was a disappointment. I always imagined it (whether or not it was described in the books this way, I dunno) as just a regular wardrobe in a regular room - not some huge thing standing alone in a room with a sheet over it and a whitelight when you open it. That alone sorta turned me off the movie.

I also imangined it a room with stuff in it, not an empty room.

And this movie is going to make a fuck load of money. This movie fits almost every demographic.

Yes, because in a world where you have talking lions, witches with the ability to ice over the entire world, fawns, no end of other magical creatures and a wooden box which acts as a portal you definately need to use the mind control powers of hash to use little kids :P

Showed the trailer to a friend whos obsessed with the series and she thought it looked like a fantastic adaption. Although I must admit the trailer does have a certain lord of the rings vibe to it (although that'll probably be the case with every epic fantasy film with battles in it)

So the epic opens this week and will be doing battle along side Harry Potter. The trailers I have seen look absolutely magnificent, specifically Aslan, and I cannot wait to check this one out.

Roger Ebert has recently reviewed it, giving it three stars out of five. The review can be found here: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.d...EVIEWS/51203001

My first thought when I was watching the trailer in theatres was "Oh look, they've found a way to combine Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, well at least cinematically speaking." Considering I couldn't give less of a shit about one (Potter) and love the other, I'm not too sure about seeing this or not. The fact that it'll have an annoyingly large crowd this weekend along with the inevitable hype that'll come along with it will make it only more annoying to try and go see.

I think I'll stick with watching The Ice Harvest this weekend, or maybe even Just Friends. Empty theatres!
