The Electrifyer Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Does this dress code apply for coaches too? So perhaps, we might not ever see this again:
Big Ol' Smitty Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 If you, as a league, want to make money, you'd better have players a lot of people give a shit about. God knows the game is so tedious that it won't suck people in. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whose jersey is consistently the best selling? AI <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And their ratings are...what? What, not great? Stunning. Considering that TV revenue is a massive part of their revenue stream, might be important. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think dress code=ratings.

Dangerous A Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Can someone show me a source or something for the terrible ratings where the NBA is about to tank and die according to some in this thread? I know ratings have been effected because almost all the games are on cable except a few weekend games and the Finals and the Finals are still a high ratings grabber in regular television, in particular the 04 Finals between the Lakers and Pistons, which saw a 67% increase in viewership. This year's finals slowed down until games 5-7 because, well, game 7's tend to have high viewership. I know live attendance was higher than it has ever been, post Michael Jordan. Question for Mike, if you hate the NBA so much, which is pretty clear by your statements, why do you care what the players wear? Why bother? If this were an NHL argument (the NHL has a dress code, but for arguments sake) I wouldn't go into the NHL threads taking shots because I don't care about NHL players.

But Shaq is also a flamboyant dresser, if not gangsta.
Mr. S£im Citrus Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Yahoo! Sports: Man requests longer prison sentence to match Bird's jersey number ... Alrighty then...
Dangerous A Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 While I'm all for criminals doing max sentences, I just gotta say... what an idiot.
ant_7000 Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Im against this wearing suit rule, which clearly a strike at the black players. Whats next Stern tells them to shave their braids and Dreads off?
MrRant Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Yeah, because only the honkeys and white devils wear anything other than suits.
The Czech Republic Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Im against this wearing suit rule, which clearly a strike at the black players. Whats next Stern tells them to shave their braids and Dreads off? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> NBA MEANS NO BLACK APPAREL STERN HOLDS A NIGGA DOWN

Whats next Stern tells them to shave their braids and Dreads off? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually read about it before posting. Fuck. They don't have to wear a suit, so you are already wrong. They have to wear a dress shirt and slacks, nothing wrong with looking decent. Jason Williams didn't wear a dress shirt before this ruling, he's white (actually White Chocolate), so the league MUST BE RAYCIST. My best friend is black, he said that "niggas need to stop bringing the fact that they are black and that THE MAN is out to get them in everything that they say." I agree.
Big Ol' Smitty Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 They have to wear a suit on the bench. And Jason Williams is white *chocolate*, not just regular white.
Guest Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 I also knew that they have to wear a suit on the bench, which is perfectly appropriate.
The Niggardly King Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Jason Williams is the NBA's #1 wigger, right?

In the 80's, it was an insanely fun league to watch and the games were ACTUALLY watchable. As a nice plus, the players weren't complete sniveling twats with nary a redeeming quality. Think of your criticisms of HHH, multiply it by a hundred, and you have my complaints about the useless NBA players who don't even do their own jobs terribly well. The ratings for games are in the toilet as opposed to what it was in the 80's - early 90's.
Guest Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Jason Williams is the NBA's #1 wigger, right? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I guess?
The Czech Republic Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Think of your criticisms of HHH, multiply it by a hundred, and you have my complaints about the useless NBA players who don't even do their own jobs terribly well. The Mavericks can't work the NBA style.
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 I also knew that they have to wear a suit on the bench, which is perfectly appropriate. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What exactly would be wrong with wearing the team jersey on the bench? That shows a lot more team unity and is more appropriate for the game environment anyway.
Guest MikeSC Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 When you CAN'T PLAY, it seems absurd. But, if you don't have a solid argument, focus on semantics, right?
Guest Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 There isn't anything wrong with that, but the fact remains that Kobe shouldn't be wearing an Eagles jersey on the bench while injured. That's the problem. EDIT: That's right, a player can't suit up. You are wrong.
Golgo 13 Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Jason Williams is the NBA's #1 wigger, right? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I guess? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ryan Bowen, bitches.
Guest Brian Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Da Ali G doing NBA commercials is awesome.
Big Ol' Smitty Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Here's a bunch of player comments on the dress code. I think Wally Z made a good point.
Black Lushus Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 actors represent themselves, not a multi-million dollar company...
Guest MikeSC Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 actors represent themselves, not a multi-million dollar company... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And when the actors are selling a movie --- yes, they DO tend to dress up. If they did anything to cause a film to tank, most likely, a studio could sue.
